That's a really good idea. I shall start doing that too as at the moment I just put the receipts with the credit card bill which then gets filed with the year's accounts in the loft, making it difficult to trace them if needed.
Slow progress here, still working through the paper mountain. Over the last 2 days I have been going through letters and Christmas cards received from friends which I had put to one side to reply to. Many of them were several years out of date so have been shredded or put in recycling so now I have a small pile which I shall take on holiday with me next week. I can then send postcard replies instead of long letters which will get the task done quicker.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Actually what I paid for the courses (plus travelling to tutorials) far outweighs what I spent on the books.
One problem with getting rid of boxes as part of de-cluttering is that when you need a strong box to send away something you end up having to buy one.0 -
DH sorted out the household paperwork folder and sorted out where things are kept :j
Household stuff is now in a secure metal box file, handy for the computer. The out-of-date stuff is in the recycling.
The Executor/legal paperwork is in the older file in the attic room.
The book-keeping for previous tax years is ready to return to the voluntary organisation.

Iqueen I knew I needed to actually do the CDs and DVDs because I have been jumping from one thing to the next a bit randomly and while I have made progress, I now want to do each category in order and then I can hopefully feel it is complete at the end. Did them this morning a got rid of one carrier bag full of disks. Do feel komono gets a bit vague though, have done toiletries and make up already, after that is accessories, not too sure what to include in that category, don't have many bags, have done scarves, what else?0

Cobwebby, dust-sneezy, grimy bleurghh. I think I've broken the back of the room of doom. I have discarded empty boxes, half-empty boxes full of stuff that no-one has missed in years, and have managed to categorise most of what remains for tomorrow. Its by no means even half done but at least all the obvious bin/household recycling stuff is now parked outside my house for collection in the morning.
Of to kondo the last of my posh bottle of fig bath oil into a restorative bath before tackling dinner. That bottle of bath oil was given to me on my last 'significant' birthday and in 4 months it will be another 'significant' birthday. Why have I kept it so long, eking it out because I knew it to be expensive? I'm not even sure I like the smell of it that much!:rotfl:LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

This is so lovely iQueen; I would say I AM truly happy in my life, I am blessed with good health and family and friends and a job I love, and I want my house to catch up! Also, the only times I get unhappy are when I feel overwhelmed (by physical stuff or by my to-do list) and I'm really sure that having konmaried my home will help with avoiding overwhelm!
I am so happy that you are already happy (apart from the house!)
I've been in a grey gloom for the past few years and that's probably why the house got in such a mess. It's so good to have my happiness back!:dance:Craftyscholar wrote: »Actually what I paid for the courses (plus travelling to tutorials) far outweighs what I spent on the books.

I have been hanging on to any suitable boxes fo discards... I now have quite a collection! But only for the duration of the project.Iqueen I knew I needed to actually do the CDs and DVDs because I have been jumping from one thing to the next a bit randomly and while I have made progress, I now want to do each category in order and then I can hopefully feel it is complete at the end. I must admit that I've done quite a bit of random discarding, which kept me on track, sort of, although it was less satisfying and would have derailed me, in the past. So, when I have finished the present, quite large, diversion from the list, I shall be back on plan.
Accessories are anything that you wear with outfits - scarves, ponchos, pashminas, shawls, hats, gloves, jewellery, belts, legwarmers - you name it.
Komono covers all those things which are your personal clutter, electronics, weight-training gear, sub-aqua stuff, knitting yarns, sheet music for your trombone, weaving equipment, brewing supplies, taxidermy equipment, art materials, antique collection of radios, pets toys... anything that hasn't got a specific category. It has to be random stuff, because we all have interests that many other people don't have! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

CPT hope DVD s are going well.it made me think about when I did mine. Got through them easily and got rid of lots. OH on the other hand would go mad if I got rid of his. I will try again during the half-Term break.
I wonder if I can convince him to get rid of the cd that he got for Christmas 4 years ago and has been wrapped again every year since because he still hasn't opened it. Mm perhaps I should wrap it for his birthday next week. He might finally get the hint.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Hi Fellow Konverts
Really interesting catching up with how everyones getting on and getting ideas
Well the news is MY HOUSE IS DONE :eek::eek: I am feeling so happy and content nowLike the cat that got the cream I suppose.
I am feeling a bit like iQueen with the clothes and I am sure I dont love and wear everything I have left so will be revisiting this area.
My head feels far less cluttered and I am sleeping so much better.
Everything is getting put back in its place and anything I need is so easy to find.
So garage to be done this weekend (which is not too bad ) and the dollshouse (shed) which again is not too bad.
Then I am fully Kondo'd cant wait for that day.
Still no news on DHs interview but lets go on the no news is good news front

Have seen this book popping up on a few different sites lately and I've been decluttering so hope it could help accelerate the process. As I'm trying not to buy any books until I've read all the ones I have I wasn't sure then realised that getting it from the library is perfect - no purchase, so no broken rules plus it's money saving. Thanks for starting the post - it's good to get new ideas here.Looking ahead0

Wow mavvymoo, I am doing well but can't imagine being finished. Am not thinking about the attic and sheds yet!! The accessories you listed iqueen were what I was thinking, I don't really have any of those so can move on. What I am going to do is write a list of my komono because like you say it is different for everyone. DVDs and CDs done today, think cross stitch supplies will be next, used to do loads but haven't for a few years. It will be similar to books, quite difficult. I spent a long time enjoying them and buying supplies, since I was 14, Such a rebellious teen! Even though they are tidy and all in one drawer they are playing on my mind, funny the way inanimate objects give off vibes. Pens are callng out to me too, will do them soon:)0
