I've been putting off the under-sink cupboard but I had to go in there yesterday for something. I was gobsmacked at the number of cleaning cloths - some of them proper microfibre ones - that I have. Some unused ones still in packets - so why have I been using old ones with holes in? My aim, like others, is to end up with a very few products when I've used stuff up, I may even try the bicarb-and-vinegar route.

Cloths are now neatly rolled and they fit in the tea-towel drawer, which is only half full since I Kondoed them. Onwards and upwards, Kon-Mates! I'm going to tackle the hell-hole under the stairs.

I keep opening 'the drawer' and quickly find something else that need my attention.

Coffee and a donut and then I'm going to empty the contents on to the work surface - it's the only way.

Two big piles of Governor stuff and financial/bank stuff.

All the rest I'm sorting as I go.

Two drawers done, one is now empty. Rest is back in temporarily. I need to work out a filing system that works but need to get rid of more stuff before I can be at that stage. paper recycling bin is full (not put it out the last 2 collections) so it will be a joy refilling it after Wednesday/Thursday.

Am almost finished packing for overseas move and have tried to Kondo as I go :T.

I have to confess there will be a small komono box going :o, it's all too much for me :(, especially as I've Kondo'd a wheelie bin and two car boots of paperwork from MIL's house into three folders . I promise to sort it when it arrives in Spain :A.

Keep at it, Mav, - you are my source of inspiration at the moment! ;) (No pressure, then! :rotfl:)

My house is going to look like a hovel, when I finish kondoing - it hasn't been spruced up for years. Needless to say, I do have the paint for it, unless it has died in storage (in the house)!

I'm going to clear a drawer of komono in theCoD in my bedroom - I only open it a couple of times a year so, obviously, I don't need the stuff in there. ;) And there are the bedside drawers to do too.

My cleaning cupboard will be kondoed as well - far too much junk in there. I was shocked to see how few cleaning products (and how much space!) that my daughter has in hers - just the very basics. That's my aim. :j

I also want to corral all the stuff that I need to drop off on Tuesday. There are bags, boxes and random items everywhere, it seems. Sadly, can't put them in the car before the day, as it gets condensation. :(

I'm now off to part-kondo a gift that I received on Friday evening - a 2.5lb Rainbow Trout (pre-cleaning)! Cooked it yesterday (delicious!), so having some with mayo and salad for lunch and I'm hoping to get time to use the rest in a fish pie for tea. Mmmmm! :D

    Have a good day, Konverts!

Well iQueen The pressure is on me then :rotfl:Yes I will be like your daughter at this rate as 2 bottles of rubbish cleaner kondo'd.Sprayed about a gallon of it in the sink and it made no difference so in the bin it went :D

Decided that what is making my house look even more jaded is the sofas so will kondo them once I can find a nice one 2nd hand somewhere even DH agrees which he didnt before I kondo'd :D So really happy with that joint ahmm decision ;)

Fridge is done scrubbed and everything lined up and in its place.Freezer is to full to do at moment so will run it down and then stack it as suggested.

Bathroom done and now if you shout at DH from there it echo's :rotfl:

So just a few places left to do. Then the loft which isnt that bad as I did attempt that a while ago and the garage which has loads of carp to out !!!

So all in all a good day and really getting there now.
Everything is so much easier now. Had to find an extension lead took me 2 seconds to find :) Before it would have taken 10 mins and I would have never got the job done as I would have given up.

Good luck to all and just keep going ;)

Today I have mostly been inside the cupboard in the bedroom (under the stairs to the attic). DH had to rescue me at one point but ...... the space occupied by two large storage boxes is now empty. Yay!

Choice morsels that have been thanked and sent on their way (into the CS box or recycling) include the history of Luxor's handbags 1995 to 2015, the hat I wore for DH's graduation in 2001 and a large straw summer hat I bought in 1994:eek:

I still have to sort through the garments from the hanging rail: evening dresses from the cruise-that-never-happened, summer dresses and so on, but that will be tomorrow's job.

Well well well. Update on the new sofas I am sure kondoing is working and opening new doors. Just like our great leader said.

2 stunning Laura Ashley sofas 18 months old and used in a holiday home which was only used for 3 weeks a year. They look brand new and you wouldnt know anyone had even sat on them.
The man showed me the invoice and they cost £3400:eek:
He said I could have them for £160 and he would deliver for me :) I am so excited and cant wait to have them in my new kondo'd lounge. I will also get him a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates as I feel that would be a nice gesture. As he could have got far more for them. And will give mine to a very worth while charity which is local to me.

Right, here goes.... as i said a few days ago, i've been lurking and loving your posts on the kon marie method. I made a start, as most have, with the underwear drawer - you'll note i said underwear not knickers - that's not because i don't have knicker drawer (i do!) but for some reason the first thing i did was sort DHs underwear and PJs, al la Kon Marie. As you all know this rolling and standing on end means you can instantly lay your hands on chosen garment when required.

i was wondering if anyone else found it easier to start on someone else's drawers (as it were!!)?

i did then do my knicker drawer and life is so much simpler getting ready for work in the morning. I had a lovely time chucking the items that don't give me pleasure - so the grey bras went!! The millions of single stockings and socks that have somehow become divorced from their partners but remained in the drawer....gone. the trainer socks that just rub the back of your heels have gone. I can find whatever style or coloured garment i want in an instant. So my day starts off a lot calmer.

i too found that the drawers have stayed neat. I had a near-miss when i took 2 pairs of socks off the radiator in a hurry and nearly flung them in the drawer, but i stopped myself, turned them the right way out and gently laid them in my sock parition*. I took on board not buying more storage but like most have found boxes placed in drawers really keep things orderly. Although i'll confess to buying two plastic boxes for the difficult to reach under-sink area. They have also greatly aided the tidying and then finding things. While Kondoing the undersink i found i had 4 packs of small sandwich bags, 80 in each. That's a lot of sandwiches!!

i have also tackled a large kitchen cupboard that was stuffed with things. I know i am supposed to items not areas but as many have said in here, the items were all kitchen stuff and i did actually sort them into themes first, eg, Baking and party items, t-towels, serving dishes, cake boards, and so on. Blimey, what a difference. Loads more space, no wrestling things out of the way to get at others, easy to keep tidy!

Anyway, enough rambling. The folks want their tea.

Thanks for the inspiration. Will report back in a few days. M
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Well, despite the horrendous rain this morning I went to the car boot. I was surprised at the number of people there tbh. Came away with just shy of £23. Alongside with my recent ebay sales this means about £80 for 'joyless' items round the house. I am hoping 'kondo' will help me rein in my spending on things that grab my attention but don't really need. The leftover things are now in mums garage but I have put next months date in my diary so that I can aim to have another stash ready to go by then. I sometimes feel 'tight' not giving it charity but am not really in a financial state where I can do this.
I must admit when I put the things in mums garage I realised there are a nice collection of plastic tubs which I will take and then sell next time! Oops!

Can't decide what to do next. As I have not got the book I am in pre kondo mode! Maybe I should just finish dd bedroom first so that I don't have another half finished job!
Don’t put it down - put it away!
