Evening Everyone So nice to read about someone who has managed this and has not missed anything
So Thank you soon2b
Update the big cupboards done everything either gone Charity shop or been dumped. The few bits that I kept are put in the correct place with loads of room left over.
I have also kondo'd the undersink cupboard why do I need so many cleaning products ? I am a sucker for anything new or improved or advertised :rotfl:So I am NOT buying anymore and will just use these up even if they dont do what they claim to do  Was really tempted to throw them down the sink but I will use them up.
Right the first and only downside to the Kondo way is everything looks so clear and tidy. The paint work and walls look terrible  Dirty marks and little chips of paint stand out like a sore thumb and really sad thing it was only decorated at Christmas.
So after all this is cleared I am going to have to redo it
The windows look dirty and everything looks a bit jaded and tatty if you know what I mean.
But I am loving the tidiness of it all the ease of finding everything and putting things away without thinking about it
I am going to do the rest of the kitchen in the morning and then the fridge and freezer.
I am on Mav's mission at the moment and I am going to finish this

Hi folks. I have read the whole of this thread and find it very motivating. I have downloaded and read the book and have started to kondo.
All of my clothes, jewellery and books have been done and almost all OH's although it is a case of taking it very slowly with him as he is reluctant to let things go. Why does a man with 1 pair of feet need 75 pairs of socks plus the dozen that were old and baggy that I binned.. There is a tendency to hoard on his side of the family and he has definitely inherited that gene.
OH is not sure he likes the way I have folded his clothes but has agreed to give it a go.
An embarrassingly large amount of stuff has gone to the charity shop that DD1 volunteers at. I have sent everything as they also get money for textiles from the "rag man".
Tomorrow I plan on finishing OH's clothes and possibly starting on the paperwork.
There is something irresistible about using this method to rid your home of clutter. I can only hope that it filters through to both daughters especially the one with the extensive floordrobe.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Morning all, just wanted to share an issue that came up last night. My sister pointed out that, if you get burgled, the insurance company ask for proof of ownership of items you want to claim for. She said her friend had recently had this experience and the insurance company asked for instruction manuals to show you owned what you say you own!
Bizarrely, I felt offended by this as why should I have to keep hold of something I neither want nor really need?
So, I googled it and luckily there are alternatives. My insurer says their first preference is receipts, but if you don't have receipts then showing that something was in your possession is good enough. Instruction manuals and original packaging can fulfil this purpose, but they also said you can take photos or, even better apparently, a video to show everything in the context of your home. They recommend you show a newspaper showing the date in your photo or video and make sure it's clear it's in your house.
So, keep Kondoing the paperwork Konverts, but if you have nothing on paper to show you owned something, why not do a video inventory of your house and back it up somewhere safe. I quite like the idea of doinga little video tour of my place once it's been Kondoed! (if you include serial numbers of electricals this can help police track them down too)
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend everyone.

Morning all
I want to start paperwork today. I know I'm going to have to be strict with myself to make a start but hopefully once I get going I'll have the urge to continue. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Caitybabes, that is a brilliant tip - thanks for that. Let's just hope I don't get burgled before I've finished Kondoing, as there is no way I am going to video the house in its current state! :rotfl:
Two more bags to the CS yesterday, I am like the poster above who said they can barely see the floor in the spare room but I am getting there. Dustykitten, my advice - having gone full pelt into paperwork - is to do it in stages if you can, I have just finished filing the last few bits (and the new filing system works!) but I found it emotionally draining. Intersperse it with some 'easy' categories like books to keep your spirits up!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Oh my days paperwork
It had me exhausted but so worth it
The area I'm most proud of
Agree with previous advice
Just take a handful at a time
Set it up so you can leave off it to take very nessesary breaks
I used post it notes to put onto categories and held together somehow
I used large rubber bands. I did a quick first sift
To put into categories. Then went back to them to dump shred or file.
Or you could file and sort them straight away.
See what works for you.
It's not a thankless task. You will feel so lighter
Good luck”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

and pull yourself together”

So Thank you soon2b Ditto - it's really inspiring to hear of the complete successes! :A

Keep at it, Mav, - you are my source of inspiration at the moment!(No pressure, then! :rotfl:)
My house is going to look like a hovel, when I finish kondoing - it hasn't been spruced up for years. Needless to say, I do have the paint for it, unless it has died in storage (in the house)!
I'm going to clear a drawer of komono in theCoD in my bedroom - I only open it a couple of times a year so, obviously, I don't need the stuff in there. And there are the bedside drawers to do too.
My cleaning cupboard will be kondoed as well - far too much junk in there. I was shocked to see how few cleaning products (and how much space!) that my daughter has in hers - just the very basics. That's my aim. :j
I also want to corral all the stuff that I need to drop off on Tuesday. There are bags, boxes and random items everywhere, it seems. Sadly, can't put them in the car before the day, as it gets condensation.
I'm now off to part-kondo a gift that I received on Friday evening - a 2.5lb Rainbow Trout (pre-cleaning)! Cooked it yesterday (delicious!), so having some with mayo and salad for lunch and I'm hoping to get time to use the rest in a fish pie for tea. Mmmmm!
Have a good day, Konverts!Needs, NOT wants!
