The KonMarie method

Good Morning, I'm a lurker although I've started Kondo folding my kids t shirts (love that I can see them all when I open the drawer!) and I've been asking myself if stuff gives my joy while I've been de cluttering - perhaps I need to order the book from the library and do it properly!!
Anyway, a while ago some mentioned some little packing cases that helped you organise your suitcase/backpack and for the life of me I can't find the post and the link. I'm hoping these will help me organise my kids change bag as currently it's all jammed in together, albeit semi-organised but I can see that it could be better. Could anyone point me in direction of that link again or the name of them please?
Many thanks xWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Mav I am the same about a bunch of plastic daffs DD bought me for mothers day years ago. I have never Liked them - definitely no joy. She got them as "I know you like daffodils and these will never die"
But they're plastic, and naff. Naff daffs :rotfl:
They are going to have to go - just not sure how to explain it when she notices.
How about keeping one in a memory box - it will make you smile when you remember her buying them for you and make you grin when you remember getting rid of them.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Morning all
Thanks for the giggles this morning, oh I remember those shire horses but thankfully have never been gifted one.
At that stage of resenting having to take part in life outside of KM but cricket teas call today. I want to do paperwork instead. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
icey, if you put 'packing cubes' into your search engine, you'll find several outdoorsy/ luggage type companies make them and you may also see them in terrestrial shops which sell such things, like the outdoorsy chain stores.
Well, I keep walking between my rooms (4 small ones) in the flat and wondering where all the Stuff has gone............ OK, most of it went to the chazzer, some went to the recycling and some has been stored differently but it still seems to me to be a miracle which I haven't actively participated in. :rotfl:
Not exactly minimalistic but soooo much better than it was. I did go shopping yesterday, for a pair of thinning scissors and was driven nearly unto exasperation by the whole experience. Ughhh, I detest it. Food shopping, I have to do and am actively motivated into doing, but general purpose shopping/ mooching/ poking about? Have lost the enthusiasm.
Acquisitions so often disappoint. I'm firmly convinced that you can't purchase your way to a happy life, you need to have encouraged happiness inside yourself.
In pursuit of personal happiness, I am about to make a flask of tea and a sandwich and head up to my allotment for a few hours' peace and quiet.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Caught an interview on One Show last night with author of Stuffocation.....think its been mentioned before. He probably had lots of interesting things to say but being the 1 Show he had about 3 mins!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hello everyone, have been lurking for weeks and quietly KMing my house after being inspired by you all.
Had made some progress on a decluttering basis over the last couple of years but due to various issues it was slow and lots of the more 'indepth' sorting put off.
Since reading about the Konmarie method I have made huge progress, feeling more confident and happy to see the difference in the house and myself again.
Loads of stuff has been thanked and then CS'd/binned/G'treed/recycled as appropriate and while still a long way to go it is so much better.
Sorted out loads of the kids books which they no longer wanted and took into school for them to make use of, I can't believe how pleased they were with them and it made me so happy to be able to help them. Next lot of games and puzzles will go there too.
Have been unwell for the last few weeks so not much happened, but the house has stayed much tidier and so have worried about it less.
Odd bits of sorting (kitchen drawers, worktop clutter and food magazines) done as not too stressful but has made a big difference.
Old paperwork is the biggie but planning to tackle that a little at a time. It's all in the garage so will take a bit outside on a nice sunny day and sit on the patio to go through it. Have the files ready to be used for the 'archive' stuff and the wheelie bin for the rubbish. New paperwork is pretty much under control as I throw the 'not necessary' away as soon as it comes in so current keeping file just needs a tidy up now and again. Junk mail gets binned immediately anyway.
Between KM, Flylady and Decluttering there is great progress around the house, not necessarily 'by the book' but stuff is getting done.
At the same time this has also given me the confidence to take back control of myself and whilst essential at the time, the Anti-D meds are no longer helping (dr's not bothered how much I take as long as it's below the max) since weaning myself down I have felt more like me again instead of zombie mode. This means I can also now kondo the prepay cert.
Thanks everyone, this thread (and Flylady & Declutter) is really helping keep me doing stuff - some big, some small but it all makes a difference.

PS Glad I signed in and can see the 'old' style layout the new one is doing my head in!0 -
Aha, that's them! Thanks Grey Queen
We've recently moved from a huge iCandy double buggy to a titchy single uber fold buggy for DS only. He's 1 tomorrow so we'll be using for a while yet, DD (3) is now firmly in the "I want to run and run and run" phase. Sorry, off on a tangent - I need to move the change bag to a backpack as the new uber fold buggy won't carry the heavy and large current change bag, hence the packing cubes.
Next week, while DD is in pre-school I will wash, scrub and generally tidy up the huge iCandy double buggy, photo it in all its numerous positions and then try to sell it, hopefully as we have every possible part we might get as much as £200 for it! That'll keep the sprogs clothed for a while :rotfl:
I'm now going to search the library website for "The Book" and reserve it, have a great bank holiday weekend everyone xWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -

Not sure of the ones you mentioned but I always use ziplock bags in my cases, as does my dd for her sons bag
For me it means I dont have to rummage through the whole case looking for a pair of socks, they are all in one see through plastic bag. for dd especially in the swimming bag nappies are kept dry and in one place
I love them :rotfl:0 -
Hi, i think I accidently kondod my bathroom last night. I tend to lurk here for inspiration. But i think it's the first time it's been kondoing rather than dehoarding!
I have some clear space! It looks so much betternot sure if this is the method for me, but joy is a barometer I like for thinning my belongings and it all helps.
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
not sure if this will work as I have never posted pics on here before but I kondo'd about a month ago and everything is still looking lovely.
The pics show jammies including big fleecy ones, t-shirts, trousers/leggings and my favourite the dish towels from the kitchen. Kondo me happy! If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
