As a former wardrobe mistress, you really want to have shoes stored in something breathable, not plastic, or you will end up with rank, mouldy shoes.

I agree with Grey Queen - Mistress of the Wardrobe:D I keep mine in original shoe boxes - and yes ask in shop for any spare 'out back' so you can get ones all same size and shape.

Outdoorsy shoes - trainers, wellies walking boots etc are on a boot rack by back door to conservatory and our everyday school/work shoes are in a cheap Arg*s shoe cupboard in porch which also houses slippers for immediate change into when coming in.......so why I find shoes often in odd places I do not know:mad:

Should have added: another large shopper to CS today. Clothes airer which I have never used, a camping stove ( we have 2!) and some music cassettes going to freeglers. Pile of paper and plastic ready for recycling and some general carp going in a neighbours wheelie as ours is unusually full.:j

The towels look amazing Clutterfree! It makes me want to swap my matching ones for a rainbow effect so I can just look at them in the cupboard. :rotfl:

    Aw thanks! :o
They're only different colours because I have 2 teenage sons and hubby is a manual worker and I don't want them dirtying my towel by mistake! We all have our own colour.

I see we will have some Konbabies soon. :) congratulations!

You served me well dear friends but I've neglected you since 1999 when I gave up work. I only discovered you yesterday in a shoe container at the back of the wardrobe. I thought you were hibernating for the past 16 years :o but no, you died in storage.

    RIP Clutterfree's shoes.
Always a bit sad to find things that have died in storage, but hopefully a good lesson not to store things away next time.

A friend is learning Italian and I had a pile of learning materials from when I studied the language. I haven't revisited them in over 10 years so I offered them for free - one bag for life of papers and books out of my home and they will be made use of. Have told her that if the books aren't useful they can go to the CS.
There was a huge dictionary that is probably several editions out of date now. If I had the nous to sell it when I stopped using it I could have probably got a reasonable resale price for it, but the postage for it would exceed any money I might make from it. But that is by-the-by - at least it will be used and enjoyed rather than becoming a doorstop!

Hoping to breeze through some clutter busting this evening - pile of laundry is also vastly outweighing the contents of my wardrobe after Easter break so washing is on the cards for tonight (the one downfall of having a streamlined wardrobe!).

I promised myself that I would not post until I had read the thread but the thread is moving with such speed that it will take longer than I originally anticipated! So I am breaking my promise just to share.

Fore christmas I toldd dd1 we would do her room. We are just starting it now so seemed a great time to jump on board. It is back to the bare bones and we are mid way painting. However, everything is in my room, stacks and stacks off stuff. Including my photos etc that where under her bed. I am determined for nothing to back in unless it brings joy!

I know I will revisit when I get the book but keep do bits to get me in the mood. Last night I sifted my first cull through some photos and we burnt them in the chimnea outside. It was such fun chatting with my young girls and going through old memories. They were curious why I was burning photos so we would stop and look at a photo of an elephant, scenery and fuzzy photos and giggle of where they where making up places and stories! It was such fun. The younger picked up some negatives and asked what are these? We have kept some so she can look through them in daylight.

I might have to start another cull. I keep looking at my mountain of CDs, some bought because they had one track I liked. The stress they gave me due to my poor will power in not buying them, the wasteful cost, the fact that some have not been played for so many years. All sat there because I am to pig headed to let them go for peanuts when I paid so much.

Really missing my car though that is being fixed , I can't get rid of the tip stuff, cash for clothing bag etc and not being able to nip and get something I need to finish a job is really annoying!

We need a U on the alphabet thread please.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5181314

For those that don't know about the alphabet thread, it is just a bit of banter and fun. The aim is to get at least one poster from each letter of the alphabet to post. The challenge is to try claim your letter before a poster with the same letter does. Currently the rounds have been going in the usual alphabetical order of A - Z. Sometimes they go Z - A, and sometimes they are for numbers.

I have also found out that users who have a number in their user name can use the first letter after the number as their "letter", e.g. 3Dogs would be "D".

The "prize" is that you have the thrill of grabbing the letter your user name starts with before someone with the same letter grabs it, some dancing letters and your name on the gallery of fame in the first post - several times if you manage to grab your letter a few times over as there is no limit to the number of times you can claim your letter.

It is a chat thread, so all you need to do is say "hello" and add anything else you feel comfortable adding. Similar to the chat here, but without the kondoing, and a lot more pictures.

Tibawo I know it is a pain having other people's stuff in your room. We have been doing daughters room for months. I have found that it is easier to ignore that stuff as you have no control over it at the moment. Your CD's sound a good place to start. I did mine as I never listen to them now. I thought about doing the Music Magpie thing bit they weren't of any value so I got rid of the CD's that don't bring me joy. I now actually listen to the CD's- Kondoing of course.

    Good luck with the bedroom.

Tbh I've not had need of smart court shoes since I gave up work 16 years ago and the only reason I kept them was in case I needed them for funerals. :o However, all the funerals I've been to since then have been in the winter months so I've worn smart boots.

The shoes aren't any loss, I was just shocked at the state of them and posted the pic to highlight GreyQueen's shoe storage post.

I ordered the book from Amazon last night but it's not due until end of next week. How I miss Prime but I'm not prepared to pay £80 for it.

Good luck with the Kondoing tonight!

I'm KNOW that I'm going to find some bodies, too! :(

But, it does support MK's advice to love the things that bring us joy. Rather than just thanking your court shoes, maybe you should be on your knees, begging forgiveness for your heartless neglect? :rotfl:
