Hi everyone, I am still ploughing through all my paperwork! All the folders have now been emptied (more or less) and I am onto the more current paperwork which is in hanging folders. I shredded some statements which I wished I had kept, so now I am being extra careful in what I shred. My letters were in a hanging folder so I have had a sort through them even though they should be done as sentimental items. Mostly they were round robins from Christmas or thank you letters, not too difficult to part with. I think I am finding paperwork the least satisfying (not least because it does take ages!) but I will be glad when it is done!
I have all my old school reports etc in the loft and my daughter is not remotely interested in looking at them! I have always encouraged her to get rid of old toys etc but she has kept a few treasured items over the years. She is now pretty good at deciding what should stay and what should go and can see the benefit of having less clutter (less for her to tidy!).
All the best to everyone who is kondoing!

My daughter goes to my old school and is now in the 6th form there. She enjoyed reading my reports of my time there a couple of months ago, and there were even a couple of teachers still there (30 years later!)
I have bittersweet thoughts when I read them - things that I wish I could tell my 15yo self (had some bad experiences at that age lasting a few years and you can see the knock on effect in my schoolwork - hopefully schools have systems in place to pick up on such stuff now as I effectively coped alone.)
Not much KMing here at the mo, just some general decluttering with the children over the school hols, nothing targeted. Would you ever use them as bags? Could you take charity shop donations in them?
If not, you could open them at the seams and use them as wrapping paper, if that floats your boat, otherwise put them in your recycle bin.HTH.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We do this too, using them as scrap paper receptacles!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I had planned to [STRIKE]tackle[/STRIKE] ruthlessly deal with the 'maybe' clothes mountain, neatly piled in my bedroom, yesterday... but a last minute invitation for tea and cake with a friend won! Great catching up with her for a couple of hours and learning about her toy-boy!
So, today, I am going in with a vengeance! I definitely need the fix of some more, visible results! <Holds nose, and dives in!> :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

I turned down a fab favourite walk with friends and a dog, to continue with the kondoing whilst the sun still shines. Even the promise of chips couldn't lure me away:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Morning All,
Well I did my towels yesterday. I knew there wouldn't be any bath sheets to discard because I had a big cull last year.
However, I still managed to discard a lot of other items.
One that I found hard to let go of was a very thick luxurious bath mat which I bought last year. It was so thick, it never fully dried between baths and was a nightmare to dry the mat after washing - was too heavy to peg on the line so I had to lay it across a rotary line.
Anyway, it's gone now. I will need to replace it with a lighter weight one though. I also need to replace the numerous grubby hand towels I discarded with just ONE new darker blue one.
I tried rolling but didn't like the look so I went back to the Anthea Turner towel folding method that I have used for years. I just gave them an extra fold and stood them up.
I also used an old beauty box for storing the flannels in - just the right size!

I've been putting off sorting out my dining room dresser. I have a large extended family and we tend to organise family get togethers here as my garden is secure for the kids and I have a decent sized living room. I've decide to kondo some of this stuff:
20 extra dinner plates (I live alone....why so many?)
24 glass fruit bowls
20 coffee mugs
3 spare cutlery sets
7 (yes, 7!) glass serving bowls.
I've decided that the next time we're all here, I will ask each family to bring their's with them!0
