You called? I watched this link ages ago, just didn't have the presence of mind at the time to twig the principal and apply to the rest of my life ....

Well you've just sold me on that alone.

It's slightly different to my roll and shove in a cupboard while closing the door quickly (TM) method :o

MK fever has now spread through my family. My sister was the first to catch it, she passed it on to me, then my daughter went to stay with my sister and became infected also.
I couldn't get to grips with handbag storage until I found that the guest towel bale, each Kondo folded, stuffs the bags beautifully so that they stand well without collapsing into a sad, damaging heap.

Oh and Don Aslett (Dating back to a previous life) has a similar outlook to Marie, but a very different writing style. Always found him useful.

Great work of your sister, spreading the 'plague'! (Well, some OHs might call it that!) :j

MK says to store handbags inside each other, with the straps hanging outside - for easy identification. They take up less space and also don't need other 'padding'. ;)

No Kondoing today - I've caught the cold that hubby has had for 5 days and my 18yo son has had for 2 weeks. :(

However, this week I did make a start on my clothes (undies and socks and boots still to do). Even though I discarded lots last Autumn, I still managed to fill 5 dustbin bags full!

    I found it hardest to discard some lovely Carole Hochman pyjamas and 2 leather jackets;

The PJs I bought for £25 :o about 2 years ago. They were lovely, but made of fleece. I only wore them twice because they were just too hot for bed and I'm not one to lounge around in them during the day.
I kept them for so long because I thought of the waste of money, but they don't give me joy so they went.

2 suede leather jackets I had for several years and again I had kept them because they weren't cheap. I think they're too "boxy" for me now so they've gone too! :)

I switched over my winter to summer clothes. I believe Marie says keep them all out, but I share one double wardrobe with hubby so it's just not feasible. Winter clothes all konmari folded in suitcases ready for when I need them.

Contrary to what Marie advises, I WILL need to do another purge because I am currently dieting and not all items fit me so I will make a definite decision on those when they do.

Also some of my current "fat" clothes don't bring me joy but I need them until the clothes that do bring me joy fit me again! :o They will go as soon as they are too big.

Managed to take 9 dustbin bags full to CS yesterday. :D
    Waffled enough for now.
    Xx

I will be doing this, too - I'm about 7-10lb off a lot of clothes fitting nicely. They currently give me joy, but whether I like them on when I get there is another matter.

KMd a wrap cardigan yesterday. Love the colour and had kept it because it gave me joy when I went through my clothes. However, when I went to wear it yesterday (full of joyful anticipation) I realised that I no longer like the style on me - so out it went. Same for a top I went to put on this morning.

I'm still struggling with my first purge of clothes - started at Christmas. I don't have a lot of clothes, and I discarded more items yesterday and today, but my 'maybe' pile is still causing me grief. :(

I have consulted several websites, without a breakthrough.

However, I've just had another go, and discovered this blog.

The blogger has done, what MK has done for de-cluttering - turned the concept of building a wardrobe on its head!

She doesn't agree with the prescriptive 'rules' of body-shape the eternal search for thinness, and what magazines tell us we 'must have'. Very MK, she suggests that in finding our personal style, we aim only for clothes that we are happy in, because they make make us feel good and give us confidence.

Ignore the 'minimalist' title! There are no required numbers or items - a 'minimalist wardrobe' is whatever we decide suits our personal style and life-style. :o

Now, all I have to do is work out how many of each type to keep, and that is decided by my laundry routine. The rest can go. :j

Reading Clutterfree and her suede jacket has reminded me I have a suede jacket, brand new, sitting in my coat wardrobe which can go to CS. I haven't tackled coat and jacket wardrobe yet, half mine and the other half is husband's. He's got OCD I say with clothes and shoes as if he doesn't wear them, they don't fit they are gone. Probably hey he is tidy and I am like I am :(.

I just found her method awkward and cumbersome for me. I now have really quick access to my handbags and follow her way of emptying the one in use when I get home. Her ways prompt thoughtful use of what I decide to keep. I'm really enjoying kondoing to the extent that I'm looking forward to going home to do it when I'm out and about.
