Any suggestions for the best way to Kondo jeans and other casual trousers on wardrobe shelves please?

I have just folded them and then stacked them across the shelf, like books in a bookcase if that makes sense. Like [[[[[ rather than on top of each other. I also quite like the fact that it means there is a natural barrier to how many will fit like that. I know I have (more than enough) and they fit across the shelf. In future if I buy more I know I will need to get rid of some others so that they still all fit in the same amount of space - no piling up or overspill allowed!

ps - following my earlier post I found two extra pairs of trousers that were hiding in amongst other stuff in the wardrobe. I know MK would say if they werent in the original pile they should go but I kept one pair and let the other go. I thanked them (although not out loud!) for letting me know that I did indeed have too much stuff to know where it all is and also for helping me learn that keeping all the same sorts of things together is a good idea. Im sure it is only a matter of time before I am yelling 'thanks, bye' to my house when I leave in the morning! :o

I've run out of drawer and shelf space so my jeans are hanging up. There is plenty of room to hang them now my tops are in a drawer.

I have got rid of a plastic container. It belonged to my mil. She sadly died 21 years ago. Every time I saw it I thought about her, she was lovely. But, we took food to the hospital for her in this box and I thought about that too. I spoke to DH about it and he agreed it had to go because there are negative emotions attached to it. Time to let go.

I've thought of a way to stop the baking trays sliding in the cupboard. I'm going to ask DH to screw some wooden batons, at intervals, to the bottom of the cupboard. The boys had homemade pizza for tea. It was funny watching them searching for the baking trays. They did declare my efforts "impressive"

I've downloaded the book onto my kindle app, so that's my evening sorted.

    "See" you tomorrow.

Sorry if someones mentioned it before, but I found a great kitchen idea on Pinterest - use an old fashioned dishdrainer to 'file' your tuppaware type lids in

Does anyone know how to Kondo fitted sheets? MIL is downsizing & one fortunate grandson is about to receive sack of bedding - if I can get him folding From The Start, harmony may prevail.

    :D I came, I saw, I Kondo'd.

Couldn't resist the lure of the combined sock, underwear and random accessory drawer, so dragged it out of the bedroom to the living room and have peaceably sat on the rug rolling my socks and folding my knicks.

Have corralled the contents into three smallish cardboard boxes, which I happened to have on the premises, and have now got every pair of socks in a usable condition, all sitting upright in sushi rolls and awaiting their turn to be worn.

:o I have also shamefully found one pair of sports socks with huge holes in the heels - why oh why did I allow such bulky items to take up my scarce space?! Exiting for rag collection NOW.

I'm putting the 4 plain but odd black socks somewhere else for now, hoping that their mates will crawl out of the woodwork and rendezvous with them. If they don't, it'll be textile recycling for them, too.

I shall now perform the English Tea Ceremony, whilst admiring my sox. Life doesn't get any [STRIKE]better[/STRIKE] odder than this......:p

Well OH has finished the book and has decided he wants to start decluttering with me. He was completely shocked when reading the book to finally realise that he is a hoarder. I've told him this many times but he never agreed. Something she said in the book resonated with him. Happy days :j

We are starting with our clothes tomorrow. He really is taking it seriously and will not let me deviate from Konmarie's instructions. He has recently become interested in cooking and originally did not want to get rid of any of our many cookbooks so I said we would leave all of those where they are for now and just go through all our other books but he now wants all of them to be taken off the shelves and looked at one by one.

Really looking forward to getting started properly in the morning :T

What a difference a week makes. Happy decluttering everyone.

15 basic and flimsy carrier bags samosa-ed and nestling in a 5.5" x 5.5" x 2.5" Christmas card box, which I knew would be good for kondoing. :T

7 large heavy-guage bags samosa-ed (with some difficulty!) No home at the mo, but will be taking clothes to the CS/ clothes bank eventually. ;)

Just got to fold the really heavy duty Bags For Life that are heaped in the hall. A different folding method will be needed, and they can GO, with heavier discards.

    I love kondoing! :smileyhea

  • I spent 45 minutes reorganizing our 8 drawers full of t-shirts, sports stuff and pjs. We went through and decluttered these before Christmas so it was easy. Ds came in and said wow that's amazing can you do mine so I did!

I am now thinking the cardboard box waiting to be recycled would make good storage for sheets and towels in the airing cupboard. I love this!

There are loads of videos on the Net, but I think this one is the best.
