Well well well, would you believe it?
Yesterday I Kondo'ed my underwear drawers, then did my son's underwear, sock and pyjamas drawers. I didn't tell him I had done this, just waited to see if he noticed. Today he got up late (typical teenager) and after getting washed and dressed proceeded to sort and tidy the mountain of stuff on his bedroom floor. He chucked a huge armful of papers in the bin then went round his room with the vacuum cleaner.
There's definitely some magic in this Kondo business! One life - your life - live it!0 -
Why not ask your Mum if you can clear one drawer for your own use? If you kondo the stuff in 2 drawers, just folding the stuff may leave you an empty one? You can show her the drawer with her stuff and that may just show her what she's missing! :T[/QUOTE]
Unfortunately I don't think I can fold the train set that's taking up most of the room. Lol, I will try and gently persuade her to start looking at things as I know they eventually want to move and there is a ridiculous amount of stuff hidden away in this house, garden and multiple sheds and outdoor storage units and I'm worried it'll totally overwhelm themMortgage started 02/2015 opening balance -£183,349

MMMMM! Bit embarrassed about this one.
I watched the Samosa your carrier bags and thought great idea. I have one of those Ikea thingies for carrier bags and because it is so full they always fall out the top.
So got son on board and started folding the bags. Suddenly it started snowing inside. The bags right at the bottom had been there so long that they had started to break up into little white snowy pieces.
All is well now and my son thought that it was funny.
So ladies - get folding your bags!!! I put them into a spare basket that I had and joy of joys found that they tessellate as well!De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Took 3 large boxes of books to the charity bookshop this morning. (I'm not strictly following Marie's recommended order because I haven't finished my clothes yet but had an opportunity to do a CS run that couldn't be missed.) I have far too many books, purchased with the idea that they are something I'd like to read "someday". I counted up 100 unread novels after we moved house in November. I didn't get around to counting the non-fiction but I now realise I don't want to spend the next couple of years reading through my backlog of books. I want to get rid of most of them and leave space for books I haven't heard of yet to come into my life.0

After following your link I spotted this Ikea Variera Pot lid holder that lots of people are using for vertical 'filing' of baking tins and the like:

Googling images I see people are using them to store all kinds of things, including shoes and boots.Mortgage

I have just folded them and then stacked them across the shelf, like books in a bookcase if that makes sense. Like [[[[[ rather than on top of each other. I also quite like the fact that it means there is a natural barrier to how many will fit like that. I know I have (more than enough) and they fit across the shelf. In future if I buy more I know I will need to get rid of some others so that they still all fit in the same amount of space - no piling up or overspill allowed!
Thanks, will try it :T:T:T0 -

Ooh this rings a bell with me, i too have all these books i don't seem to ever get round to reading - I think I am ready to let them go.
Did my summer t shirt draw today - It is relevant as i am going abroad with work on thursday - if asked how many grey t shirts i had, i would have answered 2. I have FIVE!!
I can't quite work out how it saves so much space :-/I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
 VJsmum from another thread.
To change the subject... a storage solution that I've used for several years is to take paper carrier bags or thick brown paper flat-bottomed lunch bags, fold down the tops to make them shorter and even more rigid then fit them into the deep drawer under the hob or sink to fill it with compartments. I store rubbish bags, garden bags, bin bags, food caddy bags on end etc in one (they are already Kondo-friendly), microfibre cloths in another (now Kondo'ed), J-cloths in another, sponges in another etc. Works well.

Oh to be thin enough to wear a thong!
Even then I wouldn't be tempted!!Flimsy knicks or thongs are better rolled. Fold crotch to waistband, then roll firmly from one side to the other. Store, waistband to the top, probably in a shoe-box or smaller container, to keep them together and vertical. Much more space in the drawer and pretty little sushi rolls vying for your attention each morning! :rotfl:
Vertical storing makes more efficient use of the height of the drawer. So folding t-shrts etc and 'filing' them on edge, uses less space in the drawer. Check it out on Googlr Images.
I am guessing all you samosa folding carrier bag people are not paying for your bags yet?? It's a whole new way storing 'shoppers'...........;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
