Wow - lots of you seem to be making really good progress at the moment! Well done!

Things have really slowed down for me as I've been struggling with the lurgy for the last week and a half - it's also caused a resurgence of asthma which has been away for over 3 years, which is rather frustrating! Needless to say, energy levels and motivation have been in short supply for the last few days. Although I did manage to sort out my bedside table/chest of drawers and move a bookcase to its new location in the spare room over the weekend.

I've really noticed that since I started Kondoing I've been spending much less money - I normally take out a weekly amount for food shopping, going out and general spending, but haven't done for the last couple of weeks (partly 'cos I've been ill I guess - although prescriptions aren't cheap!) and I still have money in my purse.... I seem to be even more reluctant than usual to part with money in case it just leads to more clutter!

Is anyone else finding that Kondoing is saving them money?

I need to get some cross stitch finished that a gift for someone and needed soon. I would have had it finished if I hadn't been so focused on kondoing.

Hmmm... I know that one Mrs M. One of my friends is expecting her second child in exactly 2 months (hopefully it will wait that long!) and I need to get started on a birth sampler for it. Although I still need to finish the one for her first born who is now 2 years and 3 months old  I bought lovely matching frames for them before Christmas and they're really cute Tatty Teddy designs, but I've really struggled to get the first one finished. Life, work and relocation kind of got in the way in the past couple of years, but in the spirit of Kondoing I really need to get them finished and out of my home so they can bring much joy (I hope) to their intended recipients!

I have been following this thread with interest and even though I hadn't started myself, have been telling others about it as I find the concept of deciding what brings you joy a real eye-opener! :) On Friday night I started looking at my (hideously overflowing and embarrassingly messy) wardrobe and pulled a couple of things out to send to the CS, the next thing I knew it was all out on my bed and being weeded through ruthlessly! By the end I had 1 full black bin bag for the CS, the same for the bin (undies, things well past being sellable etc) and a beautifully ordered wardrobe. My drawers are all neat and I can actually see what's in there! It's amazing! :)

This afternoon I'm hoping to Kondo my craft cupboard, I know we're not supposed to buy more storage, but I'm buying a bookcase to put in there as it's just a jumble of things thrown on the floor so I need some sensible vertical storage. Really looking forward to getting sorted! :)

  • I've just found a dog lead. My dog died over 20 years ago, and it's not even HER lead! I also found two of those weird gadgets we used to use for opening drinks cans before ring-pulls were invented!

I found a wallet DH had put away with £75 in and when doing the car adds I found a birthday card for DS1 with £5 in and a wedding anniversary card for us with £20 in. Really pleased and I was honest and gave finds to their intended.
Anni money took us out for a meal Saturday night

I found £10 in an email this morning - it's coming from Morrisons! Thank goodness, I thought twice about kondoing their survey last week! :j

My first move in de-cluttering, several years ago, was to prevent it getting worse, by stopping non-essentials coming into the home. I developed the habit of questioning everything I buy... I'm the supermarket customer, who trots round the store, pre-checkout, putting back all the 'impulse-buys' that seemed to bring me joy on the first circuit! :rotfl:
I've been saving 50ps for years and only need another £35 to get my long-awaited wool combs! :T

(Along with the Safeway crate), I've got one of those gadgets! It's in the kitchen drawer and still gets used, when I open a can of evaporated milk for cooking! :rotfl:

I think I originally kept mine for that reason, but there's already one on the end of my tin-opener!

I have 2 of the green safeway crates and both are empty now. Was thinking of putting one of them in the boot of the car to hold bottles etc. Was in mr Ts this morning and said my bags for life were dying and thought they would last forever ;) so got them replaced for free - who knew. :D We replaced the locks in the back and front doors and also the porches so decided to sort out all the keys we had. I had 17 keys that we couldn't find the item it belonged to. Think one was my youngest son's school locker and he is 30 :o Off to finish off the beetroot I am cooking as OH lifted the last of last years so he could dig that bit to plant potatoes. Anyone have any recipes for the vinegar mixture to add. The last time I added too much sugar .

You are all doing SO well here
you all put me to shame - but after a bad week last week today my motivation is back - I have rolled all the towels and teatowels I had on the line over night
but a quick question when you pop the towels away do you lay the rolls down to stack them so the rolled bit is showing or do you stand the up - my instinct is to lay them down and stack them on top of each other

I have lots of clothes washed and on hangers some for ebay some for me and some for charity shop that is all laid over the bannister I have cleared a space to dh can go in the loft and get me one of the hanging rails down - I will pop all ebay stuff on their and iron it before photoing it then back on the rail and once listed as soon as something gets a bid it will put packed ready - anything that is relisted and does not go will be put straight in the charity bag
I will only be putting on spring season clothes in spring etc
I also need to put away shoes and also work out which needs to go to charity ebay or back in wardrobe - so that is my 'work for the next few days

have a great time everyone - this is keeping me in and helping me with nsd's

    Hi Lizzie
I don't know what it is but I too seem to be saving money. DH noted the current account seemed more healthy when he checked the balance the other day.
I am now very aware of bringing anything into the house that might add to the clutter, so maybe that's why.
I was in the CS the other day dropping off some clutter and started admiring two large items in the window, before I wouldn't have hesitated and would have bought them, now I decided not to as the space gives me more joy :-)
Have sent two parcels on their way for ebay and one more bag at the CS today.:T
You know what those two things are still in the window and I didn't even stop to look :)
    Jue :)
