Well another weekend where I still haven't managed to do what I had planned, but I have put in for a day off work before Good Friday, so planning to do some then. Was hoping for 2 days, but we have a staff meeting on the Wednesday, so I am not allowed that one. OH has to work Good Friday and Saturday, so I might actually get a lot done.
Well done to all those who are still plodding on

Got the shiny new book from the library after I asked them to buy it. I'm about halfway through and can't wait to get properly started. I did do underwear about three months ago and those drawers are all pristine, but I want to follow her plan so that I do it properly before we move house.

Just watching the Richard 111 programe so facinating
So, I'm back from tea n cake outing lovely
I'm just reading back my earlier post. I realise there are people struggling to get this done. I sounded a bit smug that I am done.
l really mean to be encouraging that life is easier once your tidy
and organised with more space. Athough I have challenging care duties and a condition that some days leaves me whacked.
I am retired and had more time to kondo.
So however long it takes. Believe a new stressless life awaits.
Well done so far all of you.

I decided to start at work (for reasons) I have manuals that I have dragged up and down the country with me. I have finally decided I don't need excel version 4, and have recycled about 50 manuals.

I found 12 boxes of floppy disks. 2 unopened, going for about £2.30 on eBay, I may just do that!

Thank you Jinny. Well done you for having finished. I can't wait to get properly started but I will finish the book first and a transcription job that is taking far longer than anticipated. I can't 'relax' to tidy until that is out of the way.

Hark at me!!! I have never wanted to tidy in my whole life except what was absolutely necessary.

This is SO working for me! :j

I'm slowly making progress, often 'off piste' - a case of "I can't stand this any longer" and immediately kondoing whatever it is!

It is less efficient than sticking to the plan, and it does give rise to a collection of random komono, that has to be kept (somewhere!) until I get to the appropriate categories. However, all the the cleared places are staying kondoed, as many have noticed. :)

My sorted drawers are still neat; the (small amount) of paperwork that I had to deal with recently, was filed, with new bits going straight to their file; and my motivation continues to grow! Thank you fellow Konverts! :A

I was up with the sun this morning, and after a mug of coffee, a SAFEWAY (!) crate that has been squatting in my hall for years, gathering random [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] komono and breeding giant 'dust bunnies', finally became intolerable!

It contained: a picnic set, inlet pipes for a dishwasher that I was given and did not have room for, a nice lamp, 3 shuttlecocks, 2 trailing sockets, a couple of DIY bits that I will use, the new inner tube for my wheel barrow, an unused motorcycle cover, 2 spirit levels, a few newspapers for dirty work... and 4 large bolts that had corroded into a clump! No idea what the bolts were for and the house will probably collapse now - but they are binned. :rotfl:

I have become fervently protective of the spaces that I have kondoed!

I thought I was the only person still wondering what to do with my Safeway's crate. They're an endangered species - we should get them together so they can mate!

On the subject of Safeways......I was clearing out the corner cupboard in the kitchen and came across a huge ceramic penguin biscuit barrel. It's been in there since I moved here TEN years ago.
I went to put on the CS pile and heard something inside...it was a (wrapped) SAFEWAY mint chocolate biscuit!

:TMy home is a complete muckin' fuddle at the moment, due to the contents of the laundry cupboard being exploded all over the place.
lol - I know yours was accidental, but mine is the contents of 3/4 of my wardrobe and most of my drawer contents being kondoed, sat in bags, spewing over, on my lounge floor, waiting to get to charity shop. !!! but hey - progress

I've been keeping up to date with the thread but haven't actually been making any progress myself. However I'm very happy to report that what I have done remains done.
I think the fact that whats done remains done, really is progress.

Just back from a meal out with my family and hoping to finish bedding, then I will be able to tick off clothes. Have a nice rest of weekend.

Oh my! After having spent the the last 7 years relaxing in retirement, (so relaxed that I was almost unconscious!) and never having been a dedicated housekeeper, I'm suddenly beginning to feel all of my 69 years (and some!) I see a ridiculously early night ahead, with only half a page of my book, before crashing.

Having sorted the Safeway crate, kondoed 2 bedside lamps, and installed the one from the crate, kondoed 2 broken cardboard boxes, found homes for most of the DIY stuff (from the crate), worked out how to use the 4 single-handed clamps that were also in there, (WTH?) and hand-swept the cleared carpet (my Hoover would have had a heart attack, partly through shock at being called to duty and partly from the amount of fluff and dust), I am now totally exhausted!

Is this like exercising? Will I gradually build up stamina? :o

    I also found 2 packs (x 4) of 'ordinary' 100w lightbulbs (in a coolbag?) - such immense JOY! :j

I've had stupidly busy week this week, so have only managed to carry on with paperwork (thrown away tons of recipes torn from magazines and never used) and some stationery.

I've also been pondering the 'just in case' and 'giving to others' scenarios. I bought 6 new teatowels last week (having kondo-ed more than that) 4 are joyous, 1 is passable and 1 is not my cup of tea. Daughter likes the 'not my cup of tea' one and is also happy with passable one. She is off to uni - but not until next year. Is that too long to hold onto them for her? (We easily have the space to do so, even before kondo-ing) I was also considering kondo-ing the bike which we share - but neither of us have ridden in over a year. Again, that could be a 'Very Useful Thing' for uni - we've looked at some campuses where there is no student parking by the accom (which is basically on site of campus) Bike is in good condition (bar missing one set of brake pads which were taken off and used on DS1's bike in a hurry one day). It could be sold (or given away) because that really is a 'just in case' scenario, I guess (whereas teatowels are more usually needed! :)) Bike is theoretically liked by daughter (ie: she has no problems with colour/ style, but has no current need to ride a bike, so doesn't - but if she did she'd be happy to use it)

Looking for thoughts and opinions on this from fellow kondo-ers, please.... x

You, together with your daughter, might want to start a 'bottom drawer' for when she goes to uni - if she still has to take her A Levels, it may help her focus! Often students have to provide cooking pans, utensils, crockery and bedding. Such things can 'disappear' in shared accommodation, so collecting some now will save her quite a bit of cash. Also, your tea towels can be a 'comfort blanket' during the first few weeks!

Keep the bike, until she knows which uni she is going to - a bike makes MSE sense in a flat area, but you have to be a pretty keen cyclist in parts of Wales! :rotfl:
