well I have fallen behind the wayside rather - I had a couple of bad days depression wise and just came to a grinding halt - yesterday was another bad day but DH was home so we went back to tackling the garden and one of the sheds - shed one done nearly all the rubbish has been bagged and taken to the works skip to be taken to recycling centre
lots of odd bits of wood in the shed has all been cut up into manageable bits and taken to a neighour who has a wood burner - he swapped that for half a dozen eggs laid that very morning - more will come for the next four weeks :) so a bargain will kondo the egg boxes straight back to him :):)

so next week is another week I really need to continue to sort my hanging stuff and wash iron and photo everything I am going to try on ebay then hang it up as soon as I have listed it (I thought just a few at a time as I am a beginner) I will tissue fold and pop in a postage bag ready for addressing invoicing sealing and taken to the po - at least that way I will feel I am making progress and can pop things onto a hanging rack to keep it all tidy - so next week I will concentrate on that if I can do half hour every morning and half hour every afternoon at least I am making an effort - might not be as much as some of you (who are doing such a wonderful job and seriously motivating me) but I am working at a speed my bipolar and energy and pain levels allow - think its going to take me nearer 12 months than six but will monthly go through the clothes to keep on top of what I have done :)
thank you all for the motivation and wonderful support

I've been kondoing for a few weeks, and I hope these two tips can help somebody.
1.Donating clothes can be difficult if they cost us money, as it feels wasteful. I finally had a LBM when I compared it to going for a night out or a slap up meal. We don't think eating restaurant food as wasteful - and that all ends up in the sewer!

    2. I found the easiest way to transport stuff to the Charity Shop it to load it into my laundry basket, and pop it in the boot of my car. (Not the sort of basket we use for dirty laundry, but the oblong two handled variety we put the wet laundry in
when emptying the washer.) Luckily my CS is next door to the convenience store, so I drop it in to CS and tell them I'll pop back for the empty basket when I've bought my bread/milk.

Thank you all so much for the inspiration, especially Grey Queen and jinny. (You two would make a good replacement for Morecambe and Wise!)

    some great ideas and thoughts

This is SO working for me! :j

I'm slowly making progress, often 'off piste' - a case of "I can't stand this any longer" and immediately kondoing whatever it is!

It is less efficient than sticking to the plan, and it does give rise to a collection of random komono, that has to be kept (somewhere!) until I get to the appropriate categories. However, all the the cleared places are staying kondoed, as many have noticed. :)

My sorted drawers are still neat; the (small amount) of paperwork that I had to deal with recently, was filed, with new bits going straight to their file; and my motivation continues to grow! Thank you fellow Konverts! :A

I was up with the sun this morning, and after a mug of coffee, a SAFEWAY (!) crate that has been squatting in my hall for years, gathering random [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] komono and breeding giant 'dust bunnies', finally became intolerable!

It contained: a picnic set, inlet pipes for a dishwasher that I was given and did not have room for, a nice lamp, 3 shuttlecocks, 2 trailing sockets, a couple of DIY bits that I will use, the new inner tube for my wheel barrow, an unused motorcycle cover, 2 spirit levels, a few newspapers for dirty work... and 4 large bolts that had corroded into a clump! No idea what the bolts were for and the house will probably collapse now - but they are binned. :rotfl:

I have become fervently protective of the spaces that I have kondoed!

    Thats the spirit IQueen!
Its great isnt it? The calmness that space makes.
I was very sceptical regarding me keeping this regime up.
However, here I am keeping it up.

I still find the odd small area to be Kondoed but nothing major.
Im off for a run out somewhere with a friend.
Tea and cake somewhere nice I think.
I would have shied off normally with excuses of being too shattered. I will still get tired (thyroid condition) but I think with being decluttered and tidy I wont have to roll my sleeves up and tackle housework before I head out.
It really does make life a whole lot easier.
    My advice...Just do it
it really is magic and life changing.
    have a great day everyone.

:T Some great stuff going on and many kudos to those poorly peeps who are making slow and steady progress despite limitations. Like the Aesop's fable about the hare and the tortoise, slow and steady wins the day.

My home is a complete muckin' fuddle at the moment, due to the contents of the laundry cupboard being exploded all over the place. When I tell you my sitting room is the biggest room in the flat and is a measly 9 x 12 ft, you get an idea. I have all 4 windows open to dry laundry indoors, although have just noticed that skunk cannabis odour is wafting through from a neighbour who is chillaxing outside his flat...........:rotfl:

I will most likely be unable to use my linen cupboard from anything from 1-2 weeks; the leak upstairs has to be repaired and then my plasterboard ceiling will have to be repaired, and I will want to make sure the whole thing is bone dry before I re-load it. It's only a small cupboard (20 inches wide) but goes up to the ceiling.

I went to the allotment and loaded the planks which were drying on the patio into the shed, then took the cardboard they were sitting on, plus a couple of other things, to the dump. Then I recalled the 2 defunct batteries which I have been carrying in my jacket pocket and they went into the battery recycling bit. Bumped into a lottie pal on the way home and we had a nice natter.

Am presently on laundry load 2 of today and starting to get the place straightened out. I am very over-tired and keep breaking off to rest, as have to be mindful that I will be working from Mon-Thurs and need to be in a fit state for that, despite domestic muddles.

I did take time out to run the pushbike down to the charity shop with 2 carrier bagfuls of donations which were formerly in the airing cupboard (they'd not got wet at all) so that will be less stuff to put back.

Righty, time for another cuppa, a bit of reading of the library book, then a few more mins of wrestling order from primal chaos. Keep the faith, fellow konverts, GQ xx

I've been keeping up to date with the thread but haven't actually been making any progress myself. However I'm very happy to report that what I have done remains done.

I still marvel at this because I don't consider myself to be a naturally tidy person, but this notion of finding the right home for a thing really works for me.

    Hi all,

I,ve treated us to some files for the paperwork and now have a plan of action.

Only 3 more mornings at work then I have 19 days off :):)

Intend to tackle paperwork and lounge cupboard of doom - cupboard under the stairs and if DH plays the game - will move DD into her new room and DS2 into his (DD,s old one) - this is unlikely as paying customers come first and we,re running out of time before my hol,s booked off specifically to do this.... Can,t moan at DH for being busy now can I...:o

Does he not understand that I need to tidy and organise (cannot beleive I said that out loud) :rotfl::rotfl:

It's motivating to see you all still on track with this.

Three super-busy weekends preceded by 2 sick ones has really thrown my routine out. This weekend is quieter but I've had to work on the copy for my website so my time has not been my own.

The good news is that although my house is not spick & span in the way it was when I was going full-on Kondo -it's not a tip and, most importantly, I haven't been bringing stuff into the house. I can now go into Charity Shops and come out empty handed.

I'd really like to get back on track with this - I'm setting myself a goal of getting back to my "reset" position by the end of the week. Then, onwards & upwards....

What an inspiring read, I have ordered the book and hopefully it will arrive in time for my stay at home holiday in a few weeks.
