Tidied the toiletries in the bathroom, and decluttered about five items that were well out of date and wouldn't be usedSPC~12 ot 124

Hi Mrs I! I'm still trying to get the house cleared out in preparation for the baby coming...it's getting hard now as I'm struggling with a very painful pelvis, so when I get home from work I'm pretty much ready to sit and do nothing else!
My OH had an enormous box in the baby's room which he started looking through, moved closer to the door and left. It really is tiny steps with him!
Best of luck on the decluttering! I've managed to get rid of tons of stuff that doesn't make me happy...but I'm reluctant to start on clothes until after the baby comes and I know what size I'm going to be!
Happy belated birthday greent...that sounds like a lovely bunch of presents you were given! Enjoy!

Hi everyone, not much kondoing today as I have made a start on tidying the garden, travel bags out from loft and sorted, found suit carriers inside bags, can't believe I purchased some from Wilkinsons not so long ago because I forgot about those in the loft. Found four sets of headphones that had also been forgotten. Have kept two bags and two back packs but the rest of the bags and holdalls will go to the charity shop, plus a set of curtains. Still have not made a start on household stuff in the loft, maybe tomorrow.0

Got the brand new shiny book from the library.I had asked them to buy it, so I am the first to get my mitts on it!
For those who have read it, can I skip bits? I doubt I have time to read it all as I have a transcription job that is taking a fair bit of time and I'm asleep within about five minutes once I go to bed!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Just kondo'd some more books for the CS from my bookcase in the living room. I really want to do the ones from the bookcase in the hall, but I can currently only get at the top shelf as there are piles of "stuff" belonging to OH and DS in the way, plus a new radiator for the littlest bedroom, which is waiting to be installed when OH gets around to making enough space to actually put it in there.
At least it's only a small radiator, but it shouldn't need to be there at all.
I had to move DS's drill, which was also in the hall, into the dining room yesterday so that I could open the front door wide enough for my chiropodist to get in with her kit.
He won't even notice it's gone from the hall until he needs to use it, then he'll panic that it's lost.
I shall carry on with the parts of the house i can get at easily.
I am SO fed up of having a hall full of other peoples' carp
It's really getting me down.
Sorry, just had to have a moan as it's no good moaning to OH and DS

I know what you mean... my hall is the same!
Unfortunately, I live alone! So all the carp in there must be mine...
Especially, since I threw out a Super Soaker, a few weeks ago, which had been residing there for at least 10 years! Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

I remember those! I never had one, just a cheap copy, but oh how posh we thought we were
Thanks for bringing back those memories
Seconded. Hurty shoes are the worst. I have special insoles so usually wear trainers, though I have one pair of heeled ankle boots I can wear for a couple of hours, and surprisingly the insoles fit inside Converse so I have a pair of those too which give me inordinate joy even while OH is saying I'm too old for them (how very dare he, I'm only 54!)mrs-moneypenny wrote: »Did my shoes this afternoon, I feel the love for all of them but four pairs don't love me back they hurt like heck so they are in the CS bag in the hope they will find someone they fit who will take them out and enjoy them without feeling like they are wearing vices on their feet!
Isn't that great? Money back for something unjoyous :TSent off all my unwanted gold & silver jewellery yesterday - got just under £160 paid into my bank account today - result!

I found a box of 'mementoes' in the loft and went through it with DD. Loads of valentine's cards etc from OH in there which I discarded - I see him most days so I'm not bothered about cards really.whitesatin wrote: »However, I did go through all my cards, birthday, wedding etc. (the ones I have received over the years), and got rid of many, especially from people who are no longer in my life. I have kept some Mothers' Day cards and Grandma cards, for the moment anyway. Really, when you think about it, unless they are hand made, I thnk it is just a case of saying thank you to them and recycling.
There were lots of cards and pictures made by the kids (now adults) which I still treasure, and the first babygro they each wore on coming home from hospital, and the tiny hat MIL knitted for DS as he was prem and in an incubator for 4 weeks. I've had a little soppy moment about those and put them back, and the box is now labelled properly. Much more joyous.
I've actually kondoed paperwork quite severely, so a 2-drawer filing cabinet was pruned down to fit in an A4 ring binder and box file, and the cabinet sold. I've kept the most recent bill, statement etc. for most things, plus ALL the paperwork to do with house deeds, and ALL my pension stuff because I'm partway through amalgamating the pensions and might need to know something. Once that process is complete I'll probably prune some more.Miss_Imaginative wrote: »
We have recently cleared out OH's room at his parents and he has bought back to our house a small tonne of old paperwork, bank statements, etc - and when I say old I mean going back to 2003 and earlier! I am also going through our filing cabinet and getting rid of unnecessary paperwork. BUT when do I draw the line? Many places say keep bank statements, etc, for 7 years and then shred, but other people say keep for much longer "just in case"! Any ideas?? I'm torn, I've kept them for this long and not needed them, but there's always the "what if"...

With everyday bills etc there's so much online now that I feel OK about not keeping it all. HTH.
It is easy to read, and amusing - if you get the whole picture it might make more sense I feel. Up to you.Got the brand new shiny book from the library.I had asked them to buy it, so I am the first to get my mitts on it!

Yesterday I took a lovely old watercolour in a filthy mount and frame (it came from my parents' house, Dad was a smoker, yuk) to the framers. They're going to re-frame it to look as it would have been originally. Then I can hang it in pride of place in the front room :T
Thanks to all for posting so much, I really enjoy reading even though I don't manage to post often.
Cheers
