Checking in after last night's party (which went off very well & was absolutely worth the effort.)
Most things back into their Kondo places. A pile of stuff from the party put aside ready to go back into loft - including a vast amount of alcohol - my friends were very generous. Another pile of stuff waiting to be collected by my friend who did the catering (we did a skill swap - what a treat to have the party catered!!!). Floors need a really good clean.
By the end of the day tomorrow everything should be back in it's place.

It does get better Rosyq and Igamogam!
I had a bit of a stress the other week that the clutter wasn't going down, but you'll soon start to see little patches of empty space, or a pile is smaller/lower. A certain lightness begins to creep over you. The balance begins to tip towards stuff out rather than stuff in.

To shred or not to shred?
Credit card statements for an account closed in 2008. They have my name and account number on, but no address or other details. I have moved at least 3 times since and I have no other accounts with the finance company.

if possible, cut off the bit with the info on it, and shred that. Chuck the rest in the recycling.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

Nothing done at all this week, due to feeling bad again:( and having no energy whatsoever. But at least the bits that have already been done, have stayed tidy. What is annoying me now is the drawers and cupboards that have been cleared but nothing new has been stored in them yet and so they are a bit of a mess or half empty. There is a shelf in the wardrobe that just has a few odd bits of junk on it as I haven't decided where to keep them yet etc.... it is driving me mad. Just can't wait to get on with stuff now, not sure I will get much done during the week, with work and everything but I will get it sorted eventually. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Big pats on the back to busy kolleagues and kommisterations to peeps not feeling so good right now. Be gentle with yourself and it will get there in the end. It isn't a race or a competition.
I have been gardening for a total of 6.5 hours in the past 2 days, plus cycling to and fro, so not a lot of time at the homestead. From yesterday's washload, now dried, I removed the pair of worn-out socks, patted them fondly and thanked them and popped them into the rag recycling bag.
I have also read three novels in three days (one was very slender) and put them in a bag ready to go back to the library tomorrow.
I was given a rather lovely bath product for Christmas, in a heavy glass jar. The jar was very pretty but it was making me nervous whenever I went to use it, as I was fearful of dropping it into the tub. So, I decanted the contents into a plastic container, washed the jar and dropped it into the recycling. The plastic tub isn't cute, but it's shifted a bit of anxiety out of my life, and that makes me happier than a pretty pot.
I am also forming some new habits. I tend to garden at the weekend, then run a washload, and soak in the tub on Sunday evenings. Decided that the kitchen floor will get washed every Sunday afternoon, and the washcloth will go into the washload. Rather than wait for it to get sticky or grubby visibly. The whole kitchen is only 6 x 6 ft, so the bit you stand on is much smaller than that, and gets a lot of fallout.
I went to get clean jammies out of the drawer and had to pause in admiration of the neat kondo'd rank of nightwear. I can see what I've got, get my hands on it in seconds and, they're staying tidy. It's nothing less than a miracle in the life of this untidy person.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hello all, I've not read the book but when someone mentioned it in the no more books thread I'd thought I'd pop in and have a read of your thread. I hope you don't mind. I've been really inspired by your posting and fascinated by the tutorials. Anyway I couldn't hold back any longer and after telling my Dh about what you are all doing he suggested we do his drawers together this afternoon, he's usually very reluctant to declutter anything BUT we have a massive pile of stuff he's culled, and most importantly after folding all his remains t shirts and shushi rolling his boxers we have two clear shelves and half a drawer empty. Unbelievable he's actually asked what we can do next!!!
Thank you all
I've even samosa'd my carrier bags and they now take up a fraction of the spaceSPC~12 ot 124

:T Bravo to Mr Money-Penny. Isn't it amazing when even people resistant to tidying and decluttering catch kondo-fever and start champing at the bit to get on with some more of it. More power to your elbow.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Changing the bed cripples me, so I was very glad to to find a simpler way to get a duvet cover on.
BURRITOing a Duvet Cover
Every little helps! :rotfl:Thanks for all the supportive posts.
iQueen - can I just add my thanks to you for posting the video on how to *burrito* a duvet cover. I used this method this weekend, and easily changed a kingsize duvet by myself. So very much easier than the way I had been doing it. The only issue is if you have a duvet cover that has a different design on the top side as to underneath. You have to think about how you lay it out on the bed. However, next time, I will be swapping a 'plain colour' cover, so I won't have the issue

Sorting of hub's t shirts and shorts happened yesterday morning. He was still lying in bed! When they were all out on the bed he could see he had enough, which was the purpose of the exercise. One was downgraded to DIY, one downgraded to sleep-tee, one pair of shorts to the CS pile, one pr jeans left out to try on and the rest neatly folded and returned to the drawer. Do you think that 5 long sleeved, 5 short sleeved polos, 13 normal t shirts is enough? There are short sleeved shirts in the wardrobe as well, but that's another day!
This morning have put out a bag for Marie Curie, or rather 2 enormous Lakeland bags, the flimsy one they gave not robust enough for al the books etc. Does anyone else find that the charities collecting door to door only want clothes? Have got a lovely clear spot now where this all was."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
