This morning I have Kondoed 4 carrier bags of bubble wrap, used padded bags and the like down to 2. One of these is off to the CS who will reuse the packaging and carrier bags in their shop and the other is to be kept and re-used here. The room of doom aka 3rd bedroom is still a dumping ground, but it is a start.

I am not working "to the book". I have limited energy and am tending to deal with something as it crops up, i.e. this morning I needed to find some beads to trim a knitted shawl and the bags mentioned above were obstructing my way to the eaves cupboard.

Next I must try and find the beads I need and then return the boxes to their new home. If we can ever get rid of all the junk it would be lovely to have a hobbies/craft space where I can find things easily:(

I kondo'd my clothes a while ago, but had procrastinated on the undies drawer and the socks drawer, but finally did them today. I thought I'd have to put some in storage for the future, but no!

To my relief, it was much easier than I thought it would be. All the odd socks got thanked and thrown, and as I handled the remaining pairs, the ones that have shrunk/faded/gone bobbly/didn't give me joy got thanked and thrown also. They will go out in the textiles bag next bin day.

I really enjoyed the process of flattening and folding everything into neat oblongs. And there is plenty of space in the drawers for what is currently in the wash.

I also found plenty of komono under the socks and pants - that has also been sorted, and I feel brilliant! Should have done it at the same time as the clothes!!

Happy Sunday everyone. I'm a lurker on the boards and pop my head up once in a while. I have not read all of this thread but saw reference to it on someone's diary. I Goggled to find out more and thought what good sense it made. I have very shallow drawers.....no giggling at the back:D and tend to just fold flat. I have now KonMaried (is that how it;s spelt!!) all me undies and now find it second nature to spend the time folding them properly rather than just squishing them in. I try to practice Mindfulness any way....try being the operative word:o and see this as just an extension of that. Taking time over these little things can really focus the mind on the moment. I used to be really good at multi-tasking and have found it very frustrating when I can't do it, it plays havock with the confidence. But by concentrating on one thing at a time and doing it properly there is a sense of achievement and even contentment. I'm not doing a full on thing but as I come across a drawer or cupboard I'm having a play. Rolled my towels last night!!! Saturday night in the airing cupboard, I know how to live.:D

My home is still tidy after being kondoed and it's so easy to keep clean. 2 of my sons were home this weekend so got them to clear all their stuff from the loft. Gave DIL number 2 some duvet covers I was throwing out and Marie Kondo's book after I showed off my tshirt drawer and a demo on how to fold stuff. DIL2B got a cake stand which I hated ( it didn't fit in any of my cupboards and had to be put in sideways) also as it was silver it needed cleaning.;) She also got a fancy teaset which was my mum's. So will take myself to the loft (attic) tomorrow and tidy what they have left and hoover and also clean the 2 windows. Dishwasher on, washing machine on, Husband watching tennis in 3D and I am watching Jane Eyre on the other TV. Enjoy your Sunday:D

so yesterday on the dog rescue run I was reading the book
today on the way to W-S-M I finished reading the book
some of the things made so much sense - and I have found it far more informative and helpful than any book that is written to help with mental health - and can see this really helping me with my counselling as it will go alongside so easily

so the jeans I bought yesterday - were too big - opps - managed to change them today

so today I have Kondoed the money pots by the front door - I have bagged up all the silver and have £125 that will go in the bank next time I am in town - it is towards my holiday fund - still need to tackle the bronze coinage will do that tomorrow - tomorrow I am also going to be working on my tops hopefully I will find some nice ones that will go with new jeans

so not much Kondoing today but to me with the state of my physical and mental health I need to do a little bit at a time and am hoping I will speed up as we go -
this is making me feel very positive and much 'lighter'

I am unsure if I will every be able to speak to my house out loud - think my psychiatrist might have been in the local hospital for a rest and assessment :)
    Emergency fund £10,000

Have done my baking drawer and the shelves with the big storage jars. It now looks much tidier. Still not happy with the kitchen though. The cupboards and drawers are just WRONG! I would love to be able to start the whole room again but this time thinking about what I have and need to store. Mmmm sounds a bit like Extreme Kondoing.

Ah well I can only dream of a kitchen with the right sized spaces.

On with the next job decluttering some grey hairs.

Well the pile of kondo'd clothes and various other assorted 'stuff' finally left my flat yesterday for the HWRC and charity shop.
I have been keeping track of my decluttering on the 2015 No clutter to be seen thread but I'm not going to bother with listing out every individual item - 183 items left my flat

I popped home to my parents' yesterday and in the evening I retrieved a crate of books and other komono from my wardrobe that need sorting out. Put them in the car before Mum could see what was in there (it's mostly books and a few trinkety things). She did ask if I was sure I wanted to throw away my A Level Design Technology project folio. I pointed out that it had sat in my wardrobe for 15 years without being looked at. I am proud of it, but I don't need to keep it to be proud of it. I decided to bring it all home to sort through.
I have left one shoe box of mementos in the wardrobe, although I did go through and review what was in there so it's only half full.

    Hello fellow Konverts :)
    What a day.

    Loft finished.
Some boxes of decorating materials put back, boxes of Lego now only used annually with visitors sorted into 1 box, Xmas decs culled so they fit into one plastic crate, 3 wasps nests knocked down into carrier bags, one trip to tip, one to chazzer, 3 laptops de-hard-drived ready for next trip to tip. Shattered owner of loft now having a brew.
OH has just commented that this Kondoing lark is flippin hard work, and I have to agree!

The house will look better when I've finished won't it? Say yes? It's still a complete mess
Anyway nice to hear everyone's doing well :D

Think I am playing Extreme Kondo Tetris  I have taken 3 very big bags of stuff to CS this weekend, lobbed a few things straight into wheelie bin/recycle boxes/log burner and given away stuff on Fr**gle. I have 2 boxes of stuff to go to work with me tomorrow. I have moved ( the Tetris bit) some stuff out of the conservatory ( 3 supermarket crates) into one of the sheds which I plan to sell on Eb*y and I have some boxes of toys which I will be selling at our local NCT sale in a few weeks time so while I feel things are leaving the house I also feel I am pulling stuff out of cupboards/storage and its cluttering up the house!

Like rosyq I am hoping at some point it will begin to look better cos at the moment I could sit down and cry!

Right off to resurrect dinner as I forgot I was cooking chicken breasts in oven and they are a little over done.........got plenty of bits in food cupboards and freezer to kondo so I should be able to disguise them:rotfl:
