I'm still around and maintaining a kondoed house.
Showed my DD the new office I've created. She loved it
It's mainly been created from stuff we already had, although I did treat myself to a new desk. Now I just need to hear back from the universities I have applied to for a masters course.
Did buy some little plastic boxes to organise the drawers in the kitchen and living room better. I know we are not supposed to but everything was being held in foil containers which were getting bent. By doing so I re-kondoed the drawers again. They were the first things I organised and I wasn't so ruthless back in February!
I'm now making up some frames of family photos. I have pictures dating back to the late 1890's and it has been nice to revisit them and put names to faces. What I really want to achieve is for our children and granddaughter to have a sense of their history.
Have a good day everyone

Hi All,
I think I kondoed my largest item yesterday, a house :j
The sale of an investment property we had completed yesterday. The proceeds will allow me to clear all of our debts and have money behind us for the future.
Weekend off the decluttering then back with a vengeance on Monday. Need to completely clear out our home so we can start on the renovations.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Chez xThat money talks I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"0 -
loads of blankets taken to animal rescue centre yesterday then I got into the loft for more kondoing and found boxes of knitting wool, I plan to make blankets for the animal rescue center but not sure what size to make, I have googled and the sizes, 14,24 and 36 inches have come up so I hope these will be ok, still have half a garage, one greenhouse and the rest of the loft and photos to do0

I've done my first kondoing today and did all the clothes in one swoop (although I realised I forgot the bra drawer!) My drawers are tidy. I can see what I own and the charity box and bin are full
I haven't read the book so just following advice on here but it seems to be working. I ask myself two questions for each item 'does it fill me with joy?' and 'do I need it?' If I get at least one yes, then I keep it.
Thank you to everyone for this thread. It is so useful and just what I need at the moment.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Oh Hi - thanks for asking. She loves it!! It is as though it is tailor made for her - dance, acting, costume, singing - the works. She has however got even more dramatic - who knew that was possible :rotfl:
:rotfl: I'm so glad she's happy. Just read your post and have a big grin on my face.0 -

Emergency fund £10,000
Several categories with savings in
Cars, house maintenance, birthdays

Yesterday I was busily gardening or had my nose stuck in a book/ was cooking/ laundry etc so didn't do any formal kondo-ing.
But I did drop my hand on something which was given to me, very casually, by a mate who didn't want it. It is a useful thing I probably won't use (it was a cast-off not a present, IYSWIM) and have decided to add it into the chazzer donation bag.
Will be gardening again today, and will visit a pal later, returning 2 things of theirs and giving them another thing (a consumable gift of a type they like consuming regularly, made by my own fair hands). That will reduce the clutter a slight bit.
I'm feeling the joy when opening my plastics cupboard, the skinny wall unit where the lower two shelves are devoted to plastic containers. They have been muchly-culled and, because they're in and out of use constantly, I can actually see shelf around and under them. Very satisfying indeed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Weird thing happened last night. I was folding some clothes after airing but I was miles away. When I looked down I saw I had folded them the KonMarie way without realising. I've heard it takes a month for an action to become a habit and it has been about a month since I started doing this!
Not kondoing news as such but I spent yesterday morning oiling our recently purchased second-hand teak table. I have never had a piece of furniture that needs looking after before so this was a novelty. It is is good general condition but there were some surface scratches, a couple of water marks and some sort of gunk on the surface. I did a lot of searching on the inter web, bought steel wool, teak oil and micro fibre cloths and set to very, very nervously.
It's a revelation! Scratches have all but gone, ditto the water marks and gunk. I gave it a quick buff up this morning with a dry cloth and the wood is gleaming and sort of translucent wow! Have the legs to do today but have already discovered why all this needs to be done in a well ventilated area; the fumes are terrible and the cloths will all need chucking.
Have a good one
