Bought the e book, amreading through but dont anticipate starting the kondoing until I can reach the top wardrobe shelves....2 more weeks to wait, do not want to get OH involved as he would never throw away any clothes if he had his way!

    Keep it up!

I have been seriously decluttering and purging (unwanted household items) since Christmas and I feel so much lighter and calmer.

However, after coming across this thread... I am going to do a secondary purge Konmarie style. (Love the folding techniques.)
I have also being reading a few minimalist blogs... and even though I won't go excessively sparse... it's very addictive.

So I am joining the thread... if you don't mind fellow cultees. :) xx

Four bags more bags of kitchen clutter going to a Freegler today... and next I plan to attack the laundry cupboard. Huge bed-sheets and bath-sheets take up so much room, I look forward to purging and watching the piles shrink and neaten.

    Hi Everybody.
I started reading this thread earlier in the week and instantly felt compelled to buy the kindle version of the book.
    I love it!
This afternoon I have just finished organising my underwear, socks & the drawer with my pjs, swimwear & a few summer tops in. Really pleased with the results. My socks and tights definately take up less room than they did and it's easier to see what I have.
I followed thw suggestion of storing things in open topped shoe boxes. I have 2 sets of those decorative boxes which are like shoes boxes so I have utilised 4 of the boxes in 2 of the drawers and used them for socks, pants, tights and bras. This has alos freed up space where the boxes were stored so a win win situation.
Thanks to the OP who started this thread. I will start on my clothes next.

Thank you the link. I am still a tad confused with the knicker picture!! :D

It shows that you fold knickers into a long thin rectangle but am not sure what is after that. Do you just fold again until they're in a little square? Only reason I am confused is because in the picture, I can see a sort of triangle shape and not sure if I am missing something!

Not sure how KM does her knickers, as it were. I flatten mine out, gusset nearest to me. Fold the sides in, essentially folding them into thirds. Then fold gusset to waistband - squarish-rectangle.....then fold again bottom to top, and store.

    Hi All,

Found this thread on Tuesday and read it from start to finish. Ordered the book on Wednesday. Received the book on Thursday and finished reading it this morning in bed. Think I might be hooked

I had already planned a massive declutter as we are planning on moving house later this year and have been doing a little every day. I can say I was starting to see a little difference but really like the idea of tidying once only and seeing a marked difference.

My plan now is to follow the Konmarie's system, as best as I can, we have lots in the loft so I think that will have to be done as a separate project.

The really good news is that my OH, who is a bit of a hoarder, asked if he could read the book after I had finished with it. He is now sitting at the table fully engrossed in the book :j

Just to test the waters I decided to tidy my tea towel drawer. A full 5 minutes later only half of the drawer is being used. Result :T

I have already cleared out one black bag of clothes over the last couple of weeks but am hoping to clear a lot more over the weekend.

This has really motivated me and dare I say OH too.

I've emptied all my tops from my drawers and have started taking them out of the wardrobe. It's really hard when they're on hangers. It's so easy to cast a glance and think that's a keeper and leave it there but that's not 'the way´. I need to be strong.

I have to say I'm horrified at how much is on the bed already. If someone asked I'd have said I don't really have that many clothes!

Had to smile as I was just demonstrating that same technique to my son today when I asked him to fold my washing for me. He's 21 and I felt long since should have learnt the art of 'folding straight off the line/airer to avoid creases.:D

I know it's daft but I've been and looked at the drawers I tidied earlier this afternoon and I'm really chuffed with the way they look. So much easier to see what I have got.
So glad I bothered to start reading this thread.
