I made a Pro-MK vigilante attack on my OHs underwear drawers today.
There's three drawers rammed full to the top with socks, pants and belts all mixed up together. I know he only opens the top drawer and takes the nearest - I see only the same few pairs of pants go through the washing, so every now and again I am prone to scoop it all up and turn the pile so that he sees that there are actually other things in there.
Today, I have turned out all three drawers, colour coded and balled up all the socks, one drawer with black and grey and heavy winter walking socks, another with all the whites and belts and the other just pants. I wasn't about to go full kondo and fold 'that many' pairs of pants, so I have filtered out the few favourite ones of his and literally rammed the rest back into one drawer, to see if he notices and actually does anything about it. All the horrible old, baggy ones that he doesn't wear are now on the top and all the regular ones just out of the wash are 'hidden' away in the bottom drawer.
Plan being I will gradually filter out any of said old baggy, thin, bobbly, rubbishy ones when I see them come through the washing. :rotfl:Mortgage

My advice to everyone starting this
Is to get it done as soon as possible
If you just do a drawer here and there you will get fed up
Then give up. I know cos I've been there bought the tee shirts
Read the book- got rid of most of them and now folded the rest!
Sure we all lead busy busy lives but getting rid of the c***
ASAP frees up your time big style
I've only being Kondoing for a week and it's changed my life
That's a big claim but true. I've tried every method and bought every book on organising this is the only thing that has worked
I'm eating and sleeping so much better
So my mood has lightened up tremendously
I said in earlier post I didn't want anyone to
have to sort out my things someday like we had to with Mams
The weather isn't nice out there anyway so let's get cracking in here
Spring is on it's way we don't want to still be dealing with stuff then”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I'm going to have to do that with mine. At the moment I've got one of those large plastic chests (I think it's a 45 litre one) full of plastic bags. I'm sure I can condense them all down to fit into a much smaller box, then get rid of the big one. It's a bit late to start tonight, so I'll do it tomorrow.
I used to keep huge amounts of placky bags
But you don't need as many as you think
I restrict myself to around 20 now
Will take a look at the 'samosa' style of folding them
Thanks”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

It's a sales pitch for the authors book
but it' shows the rectangle shape we are looking for
There are lots of other people folding stuff on the side videos
As well or just type in how to fold in the search lots come up”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Thanks jinny you have posted loads of useful information.
I'm busy working my way round the house - I can't do it all in one go as I've got 2 young children (4&6) and I'm at work when they are at school. In fact I would like to Kondo their toy boxes but I think they will have other ideas ....0 -
Well, I started reading the book while waiting at the train station for DH last night.
This woman is single is she?
How can we make decisions about our homes alone when we share them with other people? There is stuff in my house that doesn't bring me joy but that belongs to one of the others I live with, and who am I to decide that this no longer suits me ?
I know that this stuff gets me down, its no great revelation! But its life, its sharing, its cooperation, and its not having everything my own way.0 -
[QUOTE=jinny;67406588 There's not many waterfalls in the North east of England.
Not in these temperatures anyway.

High Force would be refreshing I think.
Once saw it frozen years ago and it was amazing:):)

How to 'samosa' your carrier bags:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cidF66-LXngThank you for that, I've just spent a happy few mins Kondo-ing some plastic bags, so much better than just rolling them up, this way the 'samosa' shapes stay together. I think I'm a Konvert........:rotfl:
ETA; I hear what you say, LiR, but one in four people do live alone, and even when you share your life and your home, there are areas where you are in exclusive command of the physical space. I don't know any couples who share clothing drawers, f'rinstance.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
