I think I'm being misunderstood
I know whats it's like with kids I brought mine up on my own
I just meant do as much as you can as soon as you can
You will be much better to cope when you get decluttered it ain't easy I know
Toys I've said earlier I would love mine to be little again with toys all over the floor don't rush that part of their lives it's over in a heartbeat
Thank you I do need to be reminded to make the most of it while they are young sometimes. When you're in the middle of rushing around, tidying, cooking, tidying again etc its hard to take time to enjoy them. I hope that by de cluttering and folding everything using this method I'll have a bit more time to spend with my girls.0 -

Youre doing fine, best wishes to you and your Princess's x
PS im nothing like my avatar not wicked, a nice Queen I hope
picked it because its funny and have had to be a strong woman.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

The great thing about this method is, that it is incremental and gradually changes our thinking and mindset as we go through the process. :T
The process may need tweaking eg the the order of categories, depending on the individual. I am stuck with clothes, because I literally can't afford to buy any.
Clothes, for many, are normally easiest to deal with, because they are personal to the Konvert. As we work through the categories, we become less and less tolerant of clutter, mess, and stuff which is simply excessive to our lives.
By the time we get part-way into the process, even just our undies drawers, we can see positive results, and that increases our motivation. We reach the point when our lives are so changed by the tidiness, space and free time that we have recouped, that we are really determined not to slip back.:j
To the OP who did not know the vertical storage techniques: The point is to utilise the height of storage space, which we often overlook. Eg towels/t-shirts stacked in flat piles, inevitably end up in a mess, or only the top few get used, so filing things on their edges, or rolling towels and standing them as cylinders, uses less horizontal space and items can be seen and retrieved instantly. The same applies to freezer food and most other things.
Contrary to that general principle, yesterday I realised that storing tinned stuff on their sides enables them to be seen at a glance, instead of hiding for eternity behind their mates! :eek:Wire baskets appear to be a possible answer to this.

Don't give up! From five children (30 to 46), I became a Grand mum in 2013, at 69! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

IQeen - just having a break from sorting out the kitchen. Thanks for the tip re tins, I get so frustrated with those. I've got a spare wire basket that I can borrow from the freezer for the time being so will give it a try. Then I can buy some. The other one is baking trays etc They drive me nuts because they are stored in the oven, so every time I want to cook they clutter up the work surface. I'm racking my brains where to put them. I think I'm right in saying Lakeland have some answers to this so I might have a look on their website later.
Also cupboard under the sink, I need something for that. I won't manage the kitchen in one go but I can see a difference already. I've just just sorted through the tea towels and cleaning cloths and shall now samosa the placcy bags....:rotfl:
As you can tell the kitchen needs a complete rethink so it might take a bit of experimenting till I get it right.
Off to hang out some washing and then crack on.0 -

Brilliant! From kondoing posts on other threads, this has often been the incentive for partners to enthusiastically join The Cult! Actually, experiencing the advantages has given partners the motivation to become involved, by tackling their personal things, games CDs, and joint possessions. Togetherness reinforced!
Either that, or noticing the tidier more peaceful home, and starting on their own contribution.
Last weekend a husband was discovered secretly kondoing the shed and garage, all day! :TNeeds, NOT wants!
