I'm loving all my spaces. Now I have done clothes, books and potions my bedroom looks so much better and one chest of drawers is completely empty. I just keep thinking to myself "there's nothing in there" and somehow that tickles me!
Although I still have a long way to go, I have reached the point where it is actually making a big difference to how organised I am in my day-to-day life. I find myself getting my clothes out the night before because it is quick and easy to find them and there is space to hang them on the back of the door now. And my laundry doesnt hang around on airers for days because I am avoiding trying to squash it all into my wardrobe and drawers.
If anything, I seem to be getting more excited and motivated with this system as I go along, totally the opposite to what normally happens. I didnt even think I had that much clutter before but I am loving this journey to my new improved home!0 -
Personally, I wouldn't invite visitors that wet the bed - so ill-mannered! :rotfl:
Art shops or Ken Bromley online, often stock pencil extenders  so you can use them to the last half cm! :T
he hee, will be plagued by wet beds for a few years yet I'm afraid. Not getting new sofas either until we have cast iron guarantees from all 3 of them0 -
Revisited the airing cupboard which OH and I did a major sort on a few months ago, before I had heard of this Kondo lark, happy with it as is, we had bagged and labelled spare bedding (for visitors or illness) and rolled all the bath sheets and towels, have 2 sets of bedding in use (one on and one ready to use), everything matching tucked into a pillowcase. Although we have masses of towels will not be throwing them out (we are on pensions and they don't cost anything to feed as my mum says), but we have sorted out a few more worn ones and these will be the only ones used until they are done for. It feels good that this does not need to be re-done:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

I tackled the bathroom today (can you tell my mother in law is visiting on Wednesday afternoon???) - took everything off the under-sink shelves and everything out of the cupboard, threw an entire black binliner of stuff away (mostly expired lotions and potions), found the tubigrip I'd been looking for a couple of weeks ago, oiled the wooden basin pedestal and put everything back in the cupboard in the two wicker baskets that weren't needed in the bedroom any more. There's now so much room in there that the Miele and the iron can fit in there as well, instead of having to live behind the bathroom door0

I spent all afternoon with paperwork. This consisted of things that I had written about holidays - usually I write a journal but I often find I've put things on scraps of paper. I've typed up what I want to keep but not quite finished.
I can imagine a time in the future when I will go through all my word documents on the computer and probably discard some of these ones and others, and it will probably be easier now they are typed up. Not sure why I want to keep all of these memories, but not ready to let them go yet.
They didn't take up much space in my cupboard, but they looked so messy and every time I looked at them, I couldn't deal with them. It's easier this way, for me at least.

Tomorrow's tasks will begin with looking at the decluttered items still waiting to be dispatched. It was raining today so I didn't venture out to the charity shop.
I've a book to read for Thursday's book club so I need to make a start on that too tomorrow or I'll be doing that on the day itself. I hardly ever get round to reading books of my choice, even though I got 6 from the library the other day.
Also I need to get my main room back into shape as it has suffered this weekend. Most things have a place, but they are not getting put back there at the moment.
It seems to get worse before it gets better. I have still so much more to do.
I've problems with my heating system and the guy who came round before to sort out a leak is not free for another 2 weeks at least. I've two more leaks to be dealt with and it's wearing me down.

Have been feeling a bit beneath the weather tonight so have done sitting-down Kondoing - going through the 9 box files of stuff from a course I did years ago, and finding that it's not nearly as hard as I thought, so I'm keeping the fabric samples and letting the notes go because I can look in books and online for them. I Might get the 9 boxes down to 2!
And some of the samples are so nice I'll try to turn them into something instead of leaving them in a file
Enjoying hearing everyone else's stories, there's so much good humour and positivity on this thread, thankyou all

We've made a start on eldest DS's room this evening. We have filled five black bags. I could not believe the amount of stuff he had. He has kept some random items, but they are in a couple of shoe boxes. His clothes and college notes are all sorted. We still have some sorting to do but as we are out tomorrow we will continue on Wednesday.
Thank you for the information with regards to dates on toiletries, I never knew that, so will have a second kondoing of the bathroom and my stuff ASAP.

Well I unintentionally kondoed my 'wedding box'. We had our partnership 8 years ago and I had kept every single item related to the big day. I realised that I don't need marquee receipts to remember the lovely occasion so kept some of the cards we received and one of the save the day magnets and now have two empty boxes. It took me all of ten minutes to do. I was originally looking for the balloon pump...never did find itPay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490

I had a Kondo fail yesterday
Was in desperate need of an ethernet cable, could I find my box of all cables and extenson leads? The problem being that I put it in my study, which is the final frontier of Kondo'ing for me. I must crack it by the end of the month
