Unfortunately I'm still ill - I will do what I can when I get little bursts of energy.Shifting my energy for 20200 -
Good morning everyone:D
I am another one that is plodding through this process as and when the energy levels allow, it would be nice to have a blitz and get it all done quickly, but I am not very well ATM so need to be realistic, and am still getting a great deal of satisfaction when even a small amount is achieved. The main thing for me is that once a drawer or cupboard has been KM'd I am loving keeping it this way, such an improvement on previous decluttering excercises.
I am not working entirely to the plan either, still have wardrobe to do, but as I am wearing items I am looking hard to see how well they fit (have lost weight through illness and was quite happy at previous weight) and whether they would look good and give me joy if (hopefully) I get better and put a little weight back on. Yesterday I washed a couple of sweater dresses/tunics and as soon as they are dry and aired they are off to the CS. Some jeans (my favourite GAP) have gone as I could pull them down to go to the loo without unfastening them at all:rotfl:
I also had a little deviate into the paperwork cuboard of doom, tomorrow is green bin day and we are permitted to put "a small amount" whatever that means, of shredded paper out in it each 2 weeks, I normally put shredded paper into my compost bins, but they are fairly full and too cold for much action in them yet.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I thought I would join in as I have followed the thread from the very beginning and bought the book for my Kindle.
So far I have Kondo'd my clothes, CD's, paperwork, bathroom and books. I still have kept too many books and CD's but like many other posters I will go through them again in a few weeks time.
The best thing about this method is that everything stays tidy. Usually I will have a sort out, dispose of bags of stuff, and then within a couple of weeks more stuff has taken it's place.
I have got rid of things that I never thought I could let go, although I have yet to start on my sentimental things. I think this will be the hardest0 -
Afternoon, Komrades!
You are all doing SO well! :T
I've been tied up with an ongoing matter for the past two weeks, so little kondoing has got done, but your successes have maintained my motivation.I've been kondoing small nests of komono, as a distraction, as and when.
I'm becoming increasingly intolerant of clutter and can't wait to get properly stuck in.
I de-cluttered my moneybox yesterday. I should have enough saved, by the time I've kondoed the house, to buy my reward - the wool-combs that I have coveted for years. They will bring me enormous joy! Then, finally, I'll be able to kondo my stash of 4 beautiful fleeces, to spin (Hi, Kittie!) and knit into cosy sweaters for next winter... in my tidy, spacious home! :jNeeds, NOT wants!

I tackled my linen/airing cupboard on Sunday with mixed success. I am having a hard time reconciling myself with getting rid of some extra towels. For the minute they are staying put whilst I think about it, there's plenty of space for them.
I have got rid of a fitted sheet that has gone bobbly - this most certainly does not being me joy! Plus a couple of holey towels including a turban and a wrap around towel with velcro - both bought by my ex's mother for me with my name embroidered on it. The hook part of the velcro faces the skin so if it's not pefectly aligned it scratches. And I don't need a reminder of my ex every time it gets used (plus it's a right so-and-so to fold neatly).
I need to find a suitable outfit for a family funeral in 2 weeks - I have a black wrap dress that might do the job -needs inspecting as it's a few years old and I think might be getting close to retirement. I do love the cut of it and am tempted to see if it's possible to take a pattern from it and see if my mum can help me sew a new one."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Hi folks
I've been away this weekend and missed my kondoing :rotfl: how mad is that!
Also got back late last night, so tired I went almost straight to bed (feed cats, catch up with DD, make brew). So tonight after work I'll crack on, unpack my rucksack, sling everything in the wash, clean my muddy boots, make dinner, try to make some soup for lunches, and then get back to deciding how best to display the pictures and photos that I'm keeping, and hopefully sort out where things are going to live in the big cupboard in the front room
Wish me luck :rotfl:

I've been following this thread with great interest because I decided last year that I wanted to de clutter my life. I threw out loads of stuff and thought I was doing ok until I followed this kondo method.
This week I had a further chuck out and folded everything vertically in my wardrobe/draws then showed my husband how good it looks.
He then asked me to sort out his stuff & now it's done he keeps opening his wardrobe to look at it :rotfl:
It's amazing how addictive this is. I feel a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. The house looks so much calmer. And yet there is still so much more to do.
I'm also reading a book called the chimp paradox to de stress my mind and the two methods together are a winner 👍

wahhh my secret konmari day has been scuppered.... heard the patter of little feet around 10:30pm last night... he was sick all over the stairs/hallway/daddy.... so my konmari day is now a cuddles on the sofa with a poorly toddler day.
oh well, they're good cuddles! I will have to try again another day.
At the weekend I refolded all OH's clothes (no discards of course, it's not mine), but his overflowing chest of drawers now is tidy AND has spare space in it. And guess what, yesterday he wore a top he hasn't worn in yonks because he couldn't find it before and now he can...0 -

OMG
This is spooky I was just about to post about this book the chimp parody
A friend has given me this book. It didn't help her she thought it was a bit childish
However I'm loving it
I had to go to the chemist this morning to get a perscription
A lady saw me open the door and stood in my way.
I normally would have let my chimp brain verbally attack this person
But no I let my human brain just smile and stand my ground she moved to one side but if she hadn't it wouldn't have bothered me either.
I can't get to sleep at night with 'tapes' of negativity going through my head. Reading this book has helped tremendously
The theory is you have a chimp brain that deals with potential danger
Everything goes through the chimp brain first
If there is no danger he lets the human brain deal with the situation
Highly recommended for mind management
And Kondoing unwanted negative thoughts”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Does anyone have a good tip for storing pens/pencils?
I have quite a few, (haven't kondoed them yet). The pencils, pens, ti*pex pen, a sharpie, and a black marker are in a humorous pottery mug, where I need them most often. The mug was a gift from a good friend, but I drink out of china!
In my desk, I use the clear trays from supermarket bacon! :rotfl:
My art pens and pencils, etc are strored with my art gear.
I have my fountain pen, a pencil and a ballpoint in the 1 handbag that I use.
Erm... I also have a big shoe box, full of writing implements, left in my classroom, by my students, before I retired. :shocked:Needs, NOT wants!
