    Good morning
Yes I'm clear of the cubby thanks
Had just pulled all the junk boxes ect
Then loaded up the poor dining room again
    It's still there!!! Then....
I had a carer drama to deal with so
    Will start again tomorrow
At least it's empty now its a step in the right direction.

I think once all the place is done I can devote my time
Between caring duties and more me time
It's imperitive I get this done as soon as.

    Spring is coming.....

  • V J s mum - I did think I'd like to give it a try - but I don't actually have a button collection (just fond memories of my Nan's) & not sure that in the spirit of MK I should be starting a collection of something :rotfl: It did make me think though that there might be creative ways of using some little bits & bobs that I do have & that still spark joy ....

I started to photograph some stuff to sell on eBay then just thought to myself - I can't be bothered ! so other than a few things that are likely to raise a decent amount - it's all gone in the CS bag so will be off the premises tomorrow. I'm feeling quite low-energy today as I'm sure I'm coming down with something but I've got a feeling that I won't regret not selling. I love my local charity shop & have picked up some great bargains there so it's pay-back time :)

More than half the fabrics done and so far 2 stuffed bags for the cs, all nice fabrics but several are suitable for pinafores and trousers and more than enough to make for children. Soon, maybe today, I will dismantle the unsuitable garments that I made from those fabrics and have never worn. Tbh nice to be admitting it to myself at last :) Two very long lengths of 4 way stretch are going, nice prints but better for the slimmer figure. I did the stretch test as on the craftsy class and they didn`t bounce back well enough for me. I have kept several stretchy fabrics as they are thicker and bounced back well.

I now have skirt jacket and trouser fabrics in one place, I have lovely fabrics in there but out of sight was out of mind. What a waste. I took a shelf out of two cupboards below top units and a desk and that increased the space and visibility by a lot, the shelves just slid underneath the units onto the floor. I have lovely fabrics, tissue wrapped lace fabrics, pima cottons etc. So time to make blouses very soon and the thin plain stretch cottons will be turned into petticoats and camisoles, over time

4 good empty `really useful` plastic storage boxes are now empty on top of a book case in that room, did that today so a good result and the large storage ottoman type box in the hall is now not overflowing and the big space in the base of a unit is now half full. I haven`t touched the fabrics stored upstairs but they are all good ones, nice linens, boiled wool and some stretchy charmeuse silk, stored with moth sachets just in case. Trouble is I found a big sack of more home spun woollen yarn, entirely suitable for an aran top, maybe a sleeveless button fronted something or other, omg not yet though:doh:

Back on here and just weighed the new yarn. 1.9 kg oh heck, lovely too, bfl (blue faced leicester) and a touch of copper coloured manx (sheep) and all skeined up and washed, ready to use. Oh my goodness, spinning is so relaxing and satisfying, I get carried away. What a lot so got to face up to it and will do a tension square later and find a suitable pattern on ravelry

I suppose that actually using stuff is good feng shui anyway

Kittie, do you have CS that sell fabric where you live? I ask out of pure curiosity (nosiness), as here a couple of them have fabric occasionally, people that volunteer in some of them are aghast as virtually all the fabrics get put in the rag collections:eek: I now make all my donations, whatever that might consist of, to two small local charities, as well as having just a couple of shops they run a car boot sale and really make a great effort with all the donations received. Old bedding, duvets and towels are used in the kennels of the dog rescue one too.

You are doing so well, my yarn collection (not hand spun) will be the very last thing in this house to be tackled:o, and I really need to find where my knitting mojo is hiding:)

:) Chazzers around my way put fabric on hangers, with a card ticket saying the length and width, and display them with the curtains/ bedspreads/ sheets etc, on hangers on a rail. Seems to work pretty well. They also sell bits and bobs of haberdashey in baskets, ususally grouped in the same area as knitting patterns and other crafty pieces. Seems to be a lively market for them, as there should be, bearing in mind the new prices.

Have collected several more worn-out garments from the family home to go for ragging, so will take them back with me on the bus this afternoon; thank goodness for the wally-trolley, that's all I can say.

good point, thank you maddiem, I won`t let those bags go unless I am satisfied that they will actually sell them. If they don`t then that will put me off the hospice shop altogether and I will find another cs

Gone into procrastination mode for some reason now, just as well I brought a big bag of ufos in and also that huge bag of yarn, as I am bound to see to them now, rather than just ignore them. Sun is out and just had lunch so am feeling my usually post lunch doziness, might as well knit as reading will send me into the land of nod for a nap

    Good afternoon

DH has dropped off a few bags to various destinations. I've got a few bits and bobs sorted for the charity shop. Ds has now finished sorting his clothes and shoes so he too has a couple of bags to go tomorrow. Eldest DS I think is feeling a bit overwhelmed with his stuff. He has a very small room and loads of stuff. I've offered to help him sort it, just need to motivate him into doing it. Tomorrow's job (hopefully)

I've put some daffodils in a small vase that I haven't used for ages. It's looks really pretty, definitely bringing me joy.

I do think that some areas may need a second kondoing. Whilst I'm letting go of lots of stuff, I am dithering on others. I have given myself until the summer holidays to complete the task, and I think I may need it. Does anyone else feel this way?

Yes, I've also given myself till the summer holidays and I doubt I will be done any earlier. I would like to take a few weeks off work and get it all done in one go, but I want to have a summer holiday more! I have to fit it in here and there but so long as I keep going bit by bit I'm sure I'm going to get there in the end.

i have given myself / us the year to get the house, garden, garage sorted. Realistically it is going to take that long - it has taken us 17 years in this house to acquire it all.

The children are swapping bedrooms so that is a good excuse to sort out their cra er precious possessions (don't worry I have promised i wont get rid of anything without their permission.)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hi all,

Have been merrily samosa, ing bags and folding !kea bags this morning, and ranger rolling pants this afternoon :)

Not long before I can move the kitchen contents back into the new kitchen, I have ordered a load of 'lock and lock' boxes to store the baking stuff in one of the big drawers, used the last of my am@zon book money, plus an over payment I had made on a CC before Xmas. It will be nice not to have bags of flour all over the place :). Any excuse to use my label maker LOL

In our en suite we have an oak unit that the basins sit on, I,m thinking of getting some kind of sliding unit to put in it with our shower stuff in - anyone know what they would be called - googling sliding drawer brings up tonnes of kitchen units.......

Well put together the desk and bookcase. The bookcase is smaller than I imagined, which prompted me to go through the books again but ruthlessly this time. Everything looks a lot better.

Couldn't work out where to put the printer so have stuck it in the bedroom and given up for the day. I'm starting to feel like carp again, blooming flu!

DD asked me to go shopping at the local retail outlet tomorrow...er no I have flu!

I'm going off to lay my head down. Might just call it a day.
