Haha, definitely! I would quite happily KonMarie Helen too, and possibly the new Pip, so many of them need a bit of a slap at the moment!!

Ok, checking in to say that I have seriously culled the potions and lotions and am just now sitting back to think about where they should go. There's a bit too much for the drawer I had in mind so I think I might just put one of each thing in there then have the rest in a box in the bathroom cupboard to replenish my supplies. I really want to have the top of my dressing table empty except for maybe a few pretty bottles or candles. I might need to join that 'no buying anymore toiletries' thread though as i have plenty of the things I love but was sad that I had to throw really lovely things out because they had gone stale.0

Just signing into Saturday Kondo Klub.
I'm also going to tackle lotions and potions.

Afternoon kondoers,
can't believe I am still enthusiastic about this kondo lark after 2 weeks, but I am and am loving it!
anyhoo, have a large "storage box" under the stairs with about 50 vinyl albums in it, thought I was emotionally attached to these bits of plastic....turns out I'm not:j, thought I would look on flebay to see if any were worth anything (nope, nada, nothing) and so took one out of its sleeve to see the condition......and........out fell a letter from a friend, from 1987:eek: well that fair freaked me out (and yes I did then check all the other albums, but nothing in them) but at least I can not say with certainty that I have not played those records in 27 years!!
well have a nice and tidy valentines evening

I have been a bit lazy recently re the kondoing
. Today a friend asked if I could look after her son. No problems kids don' t notice
Stuff.
When she dropped him off she said. "we will be back in a couple of hours. You can show me your lovely drawers."
So I have just spent the last 2 hours kondoing stuff that was on the list but hadn't yet been done. Bedroom looks great. Piles for CS and bin moved.
Great strategy for if you need a bit of motivation.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

I was explaining to OH yesterday about the idea of kondo-ing your clothes by keeping only the ones that "spark joy".
He has mobility problems and his main criterion when choosing something to wear is that it needs to be comfortable.
He said that he doesn't actually love any of his clothes at all (he lives in jeans and long-sleeved polo shirts/teeshirts, with short-sleeved teeshirts and seersucker shirts in summer), and that if he got rid of all the ones that don't give him joy he'd get arrested if he left the house :rotfl:
I laughed, but it did get me thinking; most of his tops come from C0tton Tr@ders or H@wkshead and are usually bought when they have offers on, such as "Buy two,get one half price" or whatever , so that he tends to buy two or three to take advantage of the offer, even if there's only one colour he actually really likes.
He has far more than he needs, partly because when he had to stop work he panicked in case he could never afford to buy any clothes again, so bought quite a few to "put away", though he has recently plucked up courage to get some out and start wearing them :T.
I think I shall suggest he contemplates keeping only the ones which he picked as his first choice of colour, and getting rid of the colours that do nothing for him. He has ended up with quite a lot of beige and oatmeal which really don't suit his skintone, as well as brighter colours which do.0 -
Well we tackled Hubby's side of the wardrobe and he has just gone off to the CS with 3 more bags of stuff....so that's 4 in total so far. It was a strange experience, the conversation went a bit like this.....
Me...Does this top give you joy?
H....I love that top
Me..Why don't you ever wear it then?
H...Don't know, I do like it though
Me...So are you saying you don't want to discard it?
H...Definitely want to keep it
Me...So if you keep it, will you start wearing it?
H....Not sure
Me....So if you haven't worn it in the next year ( as you haven't actually worn it for the last 2 years), can we then assume it doesn't give you as much joy as you thought and you might be ready to get rid of it?
H...No, I like it...
And so it went on...how can he like something that much and then not wear it. Also how can you like something that has gone faded and nobbly!
Anyway, he started to try stuff on and as he has lost a lot of weight since he was ill last summer, he had several pairs of trousers that were now way too big for him, so at least he got rid of quite a few of them. Problem now is that he actually doesn't have that many pairs of trousers, lucky he has a uniform for work. So think he actually could do with at least 1 more pair of decent trousers and 1 pair of jeans. I must admit I was surprised at the amount if stuff he did finally part with.
The paperwork from yesterday is still sitting in a big heap waiting to be put into storage, so that is the job for tomorrow. Just got to decide where/how to store it. Don't have any box files....unless we have some hiding in the attic, so may have to use polypockets and ring binders, which we do have loads ofThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Wow! I need this book in my life.
I've just been having a read of this thread (nowhere near finished yet, but I will finish it) and it's something I really need to do.
I live in a small 2 bedroom house with my OH, DS and our puppy and everywhere is just so cluttered. Myself and DS are hoarders, so that doesn't help at all. We have so much stuff and nowhere to put it. The place is such a mess that it's really starting to get to me, so we've spent a few hours today making a start on decluttering. I suffer from a chronic illness, so get tired easily, but have managed to clear out 5 kitchen cupboards and 4 drawers so far, with about 5 black bags going to the dump! :j DS has also managed to get 3 black bags filled with rubbish from his bedroom, while OH took an old tumble drier and all the bags to the dump, so we've made a start, and hope to do the same tomorrow.
If we can do a big 'starter' clear out this weekend, then I'd like to start following the Kon Mari method over the next few weeks to get rid of more stuff. I'm a full-time student and also work part-time, but there's no excuse not to spend around 30mins a day working on getting our house into some kind of order. I think it'd make such a difference to our lives.0 -
Have found a pair of badly-holed and busted-zipped jeans which the kid bruv has allowed to go for ragging. Plus have brought forward two more of the long-sleeved shirts, warmer casual ones suitable for the season. One of his faves has just been condemned and ragged and another isn't far behind it.
Also had a wee discussion about the 2.5 ft tall stack of thin dress shirts. He doesn't have a job requiring these, passes them over for tee shirts in summer and long-sleeved casual ones in winter. So, apart from a few plain white ones for formal occasions, can't really see these getting used.
He's thinking about it. I shall leave the stack in plain view on the back bedroom bed and hope that he'll either wear them or see fit to release them into the wild. There really isn't space to keep unused stuff in a home the size of this one.
I've gifted a big jar of my HM beetroot preserve to the folks' although the Le P@rfait jar has to come back when it's emptied, and they're enjoying that.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Welcome to the thread Jacqu79! Sounds as if you've made a wonderful start :T but don't overdo things or you'll just end up worn out. Kudos to you for managing to study and work while coping with a chronic illness! I certainly couldn't do it.
ploppy57 and Elasticmoney It's comforting to know there are others also doing their best to get their OHs to realise that they have more clothes than they need. Good luck to you both
GQ I was so pleased for you that your mum had let you kondo her chest of drawers, and your brother's as well :j They'll be so chuffed when they realise how much easier it is to find things!
p.s. I still keep looking at my kondo-ed cutlery drawer0
