  • Kondoed the kitchen and then painted it pleased that stuff left and went to the charity shop, have a constant bag by the door at the moment!
Started to use my best crockery and got rid of cutlery that is never used and also using the best cutlery now too! Kitchen will look great I am sure tomorrow when the paint is completely dry and everything is back in place!

Well we tackled Hubby's side of the wardrobe and he has just gone off to the CS with 3 more bags of stuff....so that's 4 in total so far. It was a strange experience, the conversation went a bit like this.....

Me...Does this top give you joy?
    H....I love that top
Me..Why don't you ever wear it then?
H...Don't know, I do like it though
Me...So are you saying you don't want to discard it?
    H...Definitely want to keep it
Me...So if you keep it, will you start wearing it?
    H....Not sure
Me....So if you haven't worn it in the next year ( as you haven't actually worn it for the last 2 years), can we then assume it doesn't give you as much joy as you thought and you might be ready to get rid of it?
    H...No, I like it...

Ah, so that's where OH has been all afternoon :rotfl: did you have my lanky 15 year old DS there too? they said they'd gone the football.....
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Welcome to the thread Jacqu79! Sounds as if you've made a wonderful start :T but don't overdo things or you'll just end up worn out. Kudos to you for managing to study and work while coping with a chronic illness! I certainly couldn't do it.

ploppy57 and Elasticmoney It's comforting to know there are others also doing their best to get their OHs to realise that they have more clothes than they need. Good luck to you both :)

I was so pleased for you that your mum had let you kondo her chest of drawers, and your brother's as well :j They'll be so chuffed when they realise how much easier it is to find things!

p.s. I still keep looking at my kondo-ed cutlery drawer :D

Thank you ivyleaf. I think I may have overdone things a bit, as I'm really sore now. Bath and bed with a book soon for me I think! I have fibromyalgia and post mastectomy pain syndrome (I think this is something they say you have when they don't know what to do for you anymore lol). I'm in my penultimate year at uni and it's been a major struggle, with me dropping out twice and having to repeat a year. Luckily though, a tutor advised me to speak to the student disability service last year and the support I've had from them is amazing! They've really helped me cope with things a bit better. My work have also been fab, so I'm very lucky. :)

All going well, I plan to start on my wardrobe tomorrow. If I can get OH to empty everything onto the bed for me, it should't be too taxing. I've ordered the book and it should be here on Tuesday, so looking forward to that and getting started properly. To have a tidy and organised house will make life so much easier. :D

    Hello

    Well done konverts.

A very productive day in the boys room. Four black bags filled and waiting to go by the back door. We still have a wardrobe and two underbed drawers to do. One son didn't want his boxers and socks folding Konmari style, so I'm not insisting. Younger son - well I just did it, and he hasn't commented!
The drawers we have done look so much better. It's not all vertical folding, I've just made use of the available space.
I'm hoping to finish this room tomorrow, then give it a good clean. Happy with what I've got done on the first day of the holiday.

    Evening Konverts,

Jinny i hope that you manage to get out of the cupboard at some point.

I was visiting a friend today and i mentioned that we were decluttering, i kept quiet about the KM method for now. She asked what are you discarding? i said just about everything.
It was so funny because she said i know what you mean i am always binning stuff. i nodded in aggrement with her. We were sitting around the kitchen table at the time and i can only describe the kitchen as a highly cluttered dumping ground that would benefit from a wee wipe here and there.

I must ask her what she throws out? I do love her though and would never tell her what i thought, brought a wee smile to mine and DH's faces.

I haven,t kondoed anything today but we did buy paint for the kitchen, it's shocking pink (no i am not kidding) was like that when we moved in so hopefully it will be a sedate shade of white shortly.

I have no regrets regarding grannys sewing box. Memories are carried in our hearts not in stuff.

    Happy Kondoeing

    Regards
    :j

Put stuff back in the bathroom cupboard and there was plenty of space so I could move the toilet rolls out of the airing cupboard and into the bathroom one. I have no outside space or shed so I keep my diy stuff in the bottom of the bathroom cupboard but now I am thinking that I will move my tools into the airing cupboard and put the towels in the bathroom cupboard. The shelves in the airing cupboard are rubbish and if I pull a towel out they all generally fall on my head. Several of my storage decisions have been sparked by reading other peoples thoughts and rambles, so just thought I would add my own!

I had to sew a button on for OH tonight and as I don't use my sewing box very often,:D so decided to sit and kondo it. I now have a lot of buttons and cotton that definitely don't bring me joy, but I don't like to just throw them out. Is there any sort of charity that collects buttons and cotton? I don't think the normal CS's would want them.

Ooh, think I have found somewhere, apparently there is a charity that sends them out to Africa to help women there. I have messaged them to find out more. If it turns out to be good, I will post the details incase anybody else is in need of getting rid of some stuff.

We've got an arts group which works with children and teenagers - they're always happy to take any odds and ends that can be used in art and craft projects - ask around your area for something similar.
