  • Good luck Jinny with the cupboard of many things - I bet it will make a huge difference once it's kondoed.

My Kondo progress is very slow due to lack of spare time and an awful cold (thankfully now gone), but the areas already done are staying tidy :j. Also my hubby is on board - he got out the 2 huge boxes of CDs the other night to sort through and for the first time I can remember has put a huge pile to one side to go (he's very attached to his CDs). I'm a bit slower with CDs as I have got to listen to each one before I can decide if it is to stay or go so I've put them all in the boot of the car (in a box). I'll gradually work my way through them -I've added 2 to the pile to go already but haven't got as many CDs in the first place.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

I have kondo'd the dressing table draw of doom

    I have found

    16 pens
    4 packs of paracetamol
    2 odd plasters
3 random leads that were probably for technology long outdated
2 bottles of perfume I had forgotten about ( one of which reminds me of my mum but is nearly finished - I may do a final spritz or two and decide If I would like another for my birthday) plus the perfume I did know about, but struggled to find when I needed it (I wonder why :D)
1 empty and minging make up bag
10 hair bobbles past their best
1 pack of hair bobbles not fit for purpose
1 ridiculously over glamorous hair bobble
1 empty pack for emery boards
2 loose emery boards and a fresh pack
    A pack of hair grips
Half a dozen loose hair grips
4 batteries, don't know why they are there, don't know if they have any power in them
5 body lotions of differing sizes and states of emptiness
5 hair frizz free stuff, 2 mousses and a travel hair spray - I generally wear my hair pinned up and dont use them much at all
2 clear ziplock bags that you put toiletries in to go through airport security
2 of those bags they give you on long haul flights - and associated toothbrushes, toothpaste, ear plugs, eye shades out of them
    3 hand creams
3 European plug adapters, and a shaving plug
1 blue mascara and one new mascara - though bought more than 6 months ago
3 nail varnishes - I never wear nail varnish, it makes my nails go more brittle

I now have a draw with individual containers - perfume, body lotion, random makeup, hair stuff - though bizarrely, I have kept the nail varnish
I wanna be in the room where it happens

It's a huge walk in affair
I'm sure if it was empty it could be used
More efficiently like a huge stock cubhoard for instance
I know we aren't supposed to stockpile
But I live quite a distance from a decent supermarket

I had the same dilemma with my Apocalypse cupboard .... but ..... sitting in there I decided that my stores do bring me joy and they bring me security ..... and they bring me mortgage overpayments by saving me so much money.

I did kondo the blessed thing though - and now have a Menu plan that stretches into the Summer Holidays with only top up shops of milk and fresh stuff :D

So today ..... today is the wee ones toys ... and my plastic storage boxes :o

Love reading about everybody's progress and loving those BIG cupboards....I would love one like that!
Feeling slightly better today, but not 100%, so going to take things slowly. Need to nip out for a few food bits but getting hubby to come with me and don't really feel up to it. Then I am going to sort the storage for the newly kondo'd paperwork, I have discarded loads but now need to decide on new way of filing it all. Then I think I might try and finish shoes, bags and hubby's clothes, that shouldn't take too long and then onto books and maybe rest of drawers in bedroom....makeup/odds and ends etc.

  • VJsmum - that drawer sounds exactly like the box I cleared last week. Feels so much better once gone.

I've been excited all week about clearing my clothes to make a capsule wardrobe and now the time is here it's scary! I've laid out some stuff and have 10 jackets yet I wear the same one for months at a time.

Can anyone recommend places other than Ebay to sell clothes?

I'm going in, wish me luck!

Good morning, hubs ventured up in to the loft to see just how much work is to be done up there, hes a bit of a hoarder, however with no input from me he brought down, his old chess table for ebaying, a large bag of bath towels, they went home with my stepdaughter, shes very pleased with them, a huge box of lego that went home with my grandson, and my favourite find, a beautiful silver cake stand that belonged to my late mother in law.Im going to keep this, after a clean it can replace the ceramic one that i use. It seems the kondo effect is catching:D No sorting planned today as its dry out and the allotment is calling :)

I am really pleased with myself. I finished kondoing my photographs and instead of putting the 3 huge boxes back up to the loft - the photos are all in the albums. I didn't even need to buy them as had loads sitting empty. I put these in the spaces in the bookshelves that the books I gave away were in.So very need and tidy bookshelves.
I cleaned my bathroom again today and it is still tidy and still very quick and easy to clean:D

Heres a good run down of the book for those who haven't read the book

I was looking at the plastic containers that grapes come in
They are perfect for organizing and separating different items of clothing
