I've been resting up all day but every so often when I have a burst of energy I've been sorting through stuff. There's something about my mood today that's making it easy to discard things that I've had for years with little emotion. The most emotional I got was bidding a fond farewell to some fit flops that are ridiculously worn out - they served me well. :A

oh yes & I found some more drawer dividers in the loft

    Hi all,

In our en suite we have an oak unit that the basins sit on, I,m thinking of getting some kind of sliding unit to put in it with our shower stuff in - anyone know what they would be called - googling sliding drawer brings up tonnes of kitchen units.......

    Good afternoon

DH has dropped off a few bags to various destinations. I've got a few bits and bobs sorted for the charity shop. Ds has now finished sorting his clothes and shoes so he too has a couple of bags to go tomorrow. Eldest DS I think is feeling a bit overwhelmed with his stuff. He has a very small room and loads of stuff. I've offered to help him sort it, just need to motivate him into doing it. Tomorrow's job (hopefully)

I've put some daffodils in a small vase that I haven't used for ages. It's looks really pretty, definitely bringing me joy.

I do think that some areas may need a second kondoing. Whilst I'm letting go of lots of stuff, I am dithering on others. I have given myself until the summer holidays to complete the task, and I think I may need it. Does anyone else feel this way?

Yes I do. I am giving myself until summer hols too and it will take every weekend and school holiday between now and then to achieve it.! And I now have a sense of urgency about it as it seems we are going ahead with some major house improvements, about 10 years sooner than I thought:eek: and it will mean kitchen bathroom and bedroom upheaval ,minimum and I really don't want to be battling with clutter as well as dust and workmen!

I find myself not agreeing entirely with some folks on here with the idea that 'stuff' doesn't hold memories. Memories being kept in our hearts and minds......I have a small wooden bell my mother bought in Japan (oddly enough! ) which she had fastened to her bag (she was always a hippy :)) She died very young, younger than I am now, and when I open the drawer it rolls around in, the tinkle takes me right back to holding her hand.........it will never be kondoed!

Button pictures: seriously??! £275???? Where is that button box....?

Kiwisaver mine is a superking size duvet on a double bed and it doesn't have the loops in the corner but was very easy to roll up.

I watched the video several times but couldn't work out what she meant about pulling the entire thing out! I'll have to try doing it myself, then perhaps it will "click" for me.

I do have the duvet cover inside out and pull it down onto the duvet, shaking it as necessary, but the method you linked to may be faster :) and might work better with OH's synthetic duvet filling (mine is goose down and behaves much better than his when I'm changing the covers;)).

The elderly radiator in our box room sprang a leak in the night, and when we got up we found water trickling down the wall by the coat rack near the front door, and OH's shoes were all wet! luckily he had an old pair he could make do with for today.

The silver lining (for me at any rate) was that a horrible beige fleece of his which I've always disliked got spoilt and I persuaded him to put in in the bin :j

I've been feeling a bit knackered today, but did manage to get my wardrobe and drawers cleaned out. I've got rid of 4 bin bags from my drawers and wardrobe alone! I keep looking in them now, amazed at all the space! :D I also cleared out the ironing basket(s) and managed to get rid of one bin bag of stuff from there too.

DS filled another bin bag from his room. It took about 4 hours of mumping and moaning, and it's still an absolute pigsty, but at least that's one less bag of junk in the house.

OH has spent most of the day fixing the lock on our back door. We lost both keys and haven't been able to open it for such a long time. Rather than walk round the building through the neighbours garden to get to ours, I resorted to just chucking everything in the tumble drier. Not ideal at all, but today, we put up a new washing line and managed to get 2 loads almost dried, so I'm really happy with that.

I haven't started doing the proper kon mari stuff yet, as this weekend was mainly about getting rid of some junk and clearing up a bit of space. I've ordered the book though, and it should be here by Tuesday, so I'll make a proper start then. I actually can't wait. :D

Islandmaid Actually I didn't, but it took him a while to find it anyway :rotfl:

DS had borrowed it and put it back in the wrong place.

ETA MemoryGirl I too have been putting stuff away. It's not like me at all!
