I was out until late afternoon but desperate to kondo a few bits when I got home so was looking for quick categories. I did hair and shaving electricals (after all, how many epilators does a girl need, it's traumatic enough using one of them, I'm never going to try doing both legs at once!). Can little electricals like that go to the recycling bit at the tip? Then I did my medicines/first aid stuff and was shocked to find that practically all of it was out of date
Btw - take 3 bottles into the shower? yup, that's me! I'm loving my kondo-ed bathroom. I cant quite go bottle-less like MK suggests but I now have just three bottles on the side of the bath (shampoo/conditioner/shower gel) and 3 things by the sink (face wash, hand wash and beaker with toothbrush and paste). I am lucky enough to have a giant cupboard under my really wide sink (and to live alone so no one elses stuff to put up with) so a lot of stuff is put away (and I dont need to buy any for aaaaaages) but it just all looks so nice and fresh in there now, I keep going in to have a look!0 -
Just been catching up on the thread. Lots of progress being made.
I've been out and about a bit this weekend but did manage to do a box of komono/papers i'd moved from the wardrobe shelf to the second bedroom. I hadn't felt able to deal with it the other week, yet yesterday I emptied it in minutes. I've also whittled down the photo's.0 -
Loving everybody's achievements today. I managed to get paperwork sorted/stored but do need to get a box file for all the "house" stuff as there is to much and it won't store in a ring binder like the rest. Spent a while listing stuff on FleaBay and now had enough.
Back to work tomorrow hopefully, as feeling quite a bit better as long as I don't exert myself too much and my job is not really too physical and I have a couple of extra hours tomorrow so really need to go. So not sure how much more I will get done this week, but just want to get it all done now. Can't wait for the bedroom and kitchen to be done completely and be constantly tidy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good morning fellow Konverts
Hope to get the cubby finished today.
I can't believe how I got all of that stuff into there.
It has filled my dining room!
Boxes stacked every where.
I'm not in anyway making fun of those poor people
On the programme 'Hoarder next Door'
However I can understand how stuff just gets piled up.
Theres literally just a pathway through the dining room
It might be hidden away in drawers and cubhoards
But it's still clogging up our homes.
I can understand when people say their homes are 'breathing' now.
My dining room feels oppressive and stuffy.

That's wonderful that this funny little book has encouraged
Someone else to get rid of clutter.
It really does what it says on the cover
Life changing magic!
Have a great day every one
Whatever your doing.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Last night I kondo'd the deep freeze - and I don't mean the contents, I mean the just over two years old machine
It is a frost free model that, on looking online, doesn't hold its temperature consistently so it heats up and then freezes again - which explains why the bread was soft and the food was mushy.
If I can't trust it, it does not 'spark joy' so I'm shopping for a new one that is not "frost free". (and I am feeling surprised that I am not upset about the wasted food).I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I can't believe I have read through the whole thing! Took me a few weeks though reading a few pages most days. It's great reading everyone's experiences.
As many others have said, it makes sense to be surrounded by things that bring us joy. Who would want to live otherwise?
Reading the book it becomes blindingly obvious to me that these things we keep are only the remains of the past and we need to discard those to move on!
I have always been in spring clean mode at this time of year but now have a new method - hopefully one that will last.
My vision is a place where I can come into and relax, without thinking that something needs doing. Place my hand on anything needed without searching for it.
I have made an excellent start at work too! I figure anything not used in the time I have been there( 6 years)! Can safely be binned or given a new home.
So far progress here is; clothes done, books done, paperwork done. Still to tackle is my kitchen although I have made a start.
I also wonder if CS's across the land (and indeed the world) are wondering what is going on at the moment! For those still waiting or not sure about buying the book I'm sure it will not be long before one is set free from its owner to bring joy to another!
Keep spreading the word fellow Konverts!Back on the trains again!0 -
Ive just bought the book for my mum, am decluttering myself just now but not by this method but will read the book at some point.0
