  • Had a successful weekend as cleared slot of carp from the bedside draws and Kondoed lots of old cutlery that really wasn't bringing me any joy and also managed to kondo DS to grandmas for a week.

Started with a bit of a sniffle on Sunday which has now turned into a full blown cold. Came home from work early yesterday & went straight to bed. Staying there today too.

Will be reading the thread as the day goes on & if I feel up to may find another drawer to kondo.

    Have a good day everyone

Kondo folded hubbys tshirts that were strewn over his COD (filled with everything but clothes!) and he was surprised they took up less room and he could see the design without having to sift through. Genius!

Wrapped some birthday presents for DD for next week from me and DH and some her sisters sent home for me to wrap. Instead of getting cross when I could not find special wrapping paper then popping out to shops to buy some- I went straight to the hessian bag stored in the bedroom ottoman which has gift paper, labels and sticky tape neatly stored in it. Presents are now wrapped and labelled and no stress. :j

A pack of 100 tealights have been on the kitchen table for days as I use aromatherapy oils downstairs now as well as upstairs and look really tatty. Put about a third of them with the ones already in a plastic make up bag in our bedroom and the others have been stored in a see through plastic food container with a lid and put in the drawers in the kitchen for candles, matches etc.

Will pin up the fabric around foam slabs for DD's window seats later and then there is less stuff hanging around.

DD took a carrier bag of stuff to charity shop this morning so that is a bit more done.

Seems like the Kondoing is making people finish some jobs off so that the items can find their home.

I have a dining table which is hardly used except to put stuff on. The reason it doesn't get used for family meals is that 2 of the chairs broke so nowhere to sit.

The choice was either get rid of table and remaining chairs totally or get 2 new chairs. Yesterday I picked up 2 really sturdy chairs from the CS. I have painted one grey already and it looks lovely. Just need to get the fabric for the seat tomorrow.

We can all sit down and eat together now and I can pass on some Kondo wisdom. :)

Ha ha I can imagine you tapping your spoon on your glass.
Then everyone at the table hushes to listen to your after dinner speeches on Kondoing!!!!

seriously though its lovely to sit together for meals. Kondoing is having a great effect on family life in general.

  • So much to read and catch up on later! In the meantime a very quick one from me to say I have caved and ordered the book from Wart-erstones. Library reserve system queue is not keeping up with my impatience. Book should be dispatched today and I Kondo'd some W'stones loyalty card points which have been sitting doing nothing for some time. They took £4.29 off the book which more than covered postage so that was helpful.

Looking forward to cracking on properly. :D

  • Afternoon All! Today I decided to Kondo my tumble drier... I had made a resolution to not use it in 2015 (unless for absolute emergencies) and have stuck to it! This has freed up a huge space on the work surfaces where it has lived for the last 10 years and I am sensibly waiting for "the house to tell me" what, if anything, should live there instead! I asked my friends and family if anybody wanted the TD as it works well but nobody wanted it, so it is outside my house right now. I am sure the local "wombles" will claim it before it gets dark... most things disappear within a couple of hours, even things that I have paid the local council to collect the next morning, so I hope whoever ends up with it makes good use of it!

    Fr**cycle it!

I have fr**cycled a carrier bag of beyond dated food stuff - tins, packets, and stuff we are not going to eat. Sorry for the squeamish amongst you but I would happily eat out of date food - I use my nose and eyes rather than supermarket stock control/buy more system;) But we are are slowly running down our food cupboards and these are bits and pieces that we are unlikely to touch in next couple of months. Other Kondo activities a bit slow today - electric keeps dropping out which is infuriating as I rely on radio for concentration and timings!!

Home now after a few lovely relaxing grown up days away - much needed - and floundering a bit as to what to attack next. Need to make an impact by weekend as next few weeks very busy:(

    (

Unfortunately my experiences of the local "collecting" freecyclers are not good ones... people turning up late or not turning up at all! At least this way it is already out of the house and whoever does take it does so in THEIR time, not mine!

The people who "offer" items are lovely, it is just the time wasters who have out me off advertising things myself!
