Bought the book at last....started reading it on the bus on the way home and will be reading some more later. Can't wait to get started decluttering properly now.

My book shelves are now looking very tidy. MK says not to keep more than about 30 books, but I find that a wallful of neatly shelved books looks nice and makes my home more of a pleasure to come to and live in. Besides, books are friends to me. :)

Tomorrow I have all day free so I'll be doing all my toiletries (lots of stuff!), household cleaners, ie. anything to do with cleanliness, whether personal or environmental. I like working strictly by category, as I can see immediately everything I have and then store it or dispose of it all in one go.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I samosad my first carrier bag yesterday. Wow that is so addictive, I now have a plastic pot of samosad carrier bags, a small bag of samosad bags for life and bigger bags and an ikea bag of folded other bags. I can't believe how much less room they all take up.

I was telling ds2 how I would fold his clothes when we swap his wardrobe for a chest of drawers. He couldn't get the concept of folding t shirts and it being easy to see and sort. All will be revealed at the week end:rotfl:

    Good evening all,

i have not managed much kondoeing today but i am keeping up with folding the clean laundry and putting it away all nice and tidy.

My pre MK folding was quick easy and a bit slapdash to be honest, it takes me a while longer to fold now but i am determined to stick with it as i love the look of the clothes etc in the drawers.

I am not having much luck ranger rolling anything larger than tea towels (really sore on my hands) so i have samosaed them all and they look lovely.

    regards
    :j
  • I am seriously considering samosa-ing my rolling away towels, but I noticed my mum has just started rolling things to put in the cupboard! I don't want to disrupt this flow....

I have ranger rolled my towels in the bathroom and whilst they are tidy I don't like the look of them so I think I will samosa or fold them later...

I remembered I had some of those pop up white things that can be used as shelves in cupboards so I have transferred them into the airing cupboard and it looks much better. I think I am getting obsessed lol.

I just read out the posts regarding unfolding samoza'd placky bags to OH who immediately asked how you would do this. After I explained the way I thought it would be done he had to have a go and then another go. He's fascinated not only by the actual samozaring but also now the flicking open of the bags. He wants to carry one in each of his pockets from now on :rotfl:

Ha ha like Billy the Kid, the fastest samosa-slinger in the west. :rotfl:

Our plans for today were scuppered by atrocious wind and rain, so I ended up at home most of the day with spare time on my hands to get down and dirty with the komono.

Ordinarily I have kept every single piece of paper and filed it in a ring binder in date order for each year but it only gets done under duress on and an ad hoc basis.

It's always a long drawn out slow process whereby I put all papers to one side on the kitchen bench, filter out the paid / not paid etc., move the pile from one place to another, let it sit for a while longer, stuff it in a drawer or move it somewhere else if someone comes, forget about it and then realise there are some missing when I come to do the filing. It is all kind of haphazard and a drain on mental headspace knowing it’s there and has to be dealt with. So today was that day!

The pile I was faced with today consisted of things as far back as February 14, so with my new found MK head on I sifted that great pile of bills, statement and stuff within an inch of its life and ended up keeping only a small handful of important things like insurance and pension papers - the rest of it either went in the shredder or for recycling . Woohoo!!

I also tackled a couple of drawers full of random clutter, souvenirs, key rings, phone chargers, old phones, ear plugs and stationery. OMG the stationery!! The pens, the pencils OMG!! How many bloomin’ pens do we need? I have more than the stationery room at work. Ooh, hang on a minute, I think most of it came from the stationery room at work. One by one those pesky pens and pencils have jumped into my handbag, found their way into my car and infiltrated my home. It seems every space possible has revealed a resting home for a spare pen or three. I will count them all before I decide on their fate: perhaps I could declare an amnesty and repatriate them all back to their last known place of origin.
