Well I decided that new lampshade in the living room was not sparking £30 's worth of joy so that will be going back tomorrow & has been replaced by the lampshade that was previously in the box room until I find a full-on joy-sparking one.
My replacement dressing gown arrived in the post today and that is a real joy-sparker - full length animal print fleece with hood ! cosy :-) - so pleased I ditched my old "past it's sell-by-date" one.Shifting my energy for 20200 -
Coming back after several days absence. Daughter and Granddaughter were ill and I had to stay at their house and help out.
In the meantime we had the decorator in to paint the, now empty, kondoed master bedroom. Doing all this decluttering has really spurred us to get the house in shape. The bedroom looks lovely. Even the guy who did it loved it and took pictures for his website. We shall be moving into the room in the next couple of months when it is all done and we have bought a bed
The downstairs bedroom is now being turned into a dining room and we have been sort of looking for a teak table and chairs (think 60's/70's retro!) but they seem to be really expensive. On sunday night I found a lovely set on fleabay, local collection and only 15 miles away. We won it but were really apprehensive about the condition because the pics were a bit fuzzy. We got it yesterday and are over the moon as it's in beautiful condition. I will just give it a little rub over with some conditioning oil and it should look like new.
Folding clothes properly has given me a bit more respect for them. Has anyone else found this? I'm actually taking a bit more care of them and appreciate them more. OH shoved a tea towel into the nicely arranged carp drawer in the kitchen...she found it really funny when I freaked out and carefully ranger rolled it.

Just been to Morrisons for some basics. Brought my own carrier bags but one needed strengthening so got a new one from the checkout, secretly delighted that I'd have an extra samosa to do when I got home. Someone help me please.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Started to sort my photo,s today, they had all been slung into one of thise plastic boxes that go under the bed.
I got rid of all the 'envelopes' thatbthey were in, put all the negatives together, then flicked through all of the actual pics.
Some were easy, who needs pics of someones left ankle and a random tree, other,s made me laugh, some cry, but mainly just happy to see them again - its been ages.....
They are now in an old shoebox, waiting a second sift, when I will sort them into piles for each of my 3 kids, and general family memories.
I also went back into my drawers and refolded some of my stuff as it wasn't 'right'.........Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I'm flitting around a bit with my categories this week.
I managed an envelope of old photo's when I came home for lunch today. Some are no brainers - out of focus, heads chopped off. But letting go of images of family is hard, it feels like you're discarding the person. I haven't seen the family members in over 30 years - my mum's cousins and their children.
I kept a few of them and looked objectively at the others and tried to put myself in the shoes of the people in the photo's. I think I'd be amused to see them after all this time but none of them were overly flattering to the people in them. I also realised that my son has never met any of these distant cousins so the photos will mean nothing to him in years to come.
One envelope done, only a large carrier bag full to go.........0 -
Lol, wmf, I spent about 5 seconds debating between parvenu and arriviste, the choice of the former must have been my linkage to the borg-brain to supply your crosswording needs. I have serious respect for crossworders, about 40% of a Guardian quick crossword is achievable if I peck away at it all day, but my brain doesn't really lend itself to such exercises.
Can I share an expression of wide-eyed wonder with you all - I have an empty shelf on my wall unit! OK, it's one of the three that are only 15.5 inches wide, but empty space in this gaff is so extraordinary that I can't take my eyes off it.:rotfl:
After work, a visit from a pal and supper, I had all my books out of the wall unit and piled on the floor. I went through and sorted the to-be-reads onto one 15.5 inch shelf, turfed out two to sell and two to donate. I filletted out some papery stuff like pamphlets which had crept in there on little papery feet, and spotted a hardcover spiralbound notebook, one of two bought in a pack. I didn't realise that one was lined and this one was graph-type gridded paper.
I kept it thinking I'd use it, but have decided it's not likely, as I have hardback lined notebooks to use first, so will donate that.
I have also set myself a target of having read all the books on the lower shelf within 6 months. I'm a voracious reader of fiction but slower at non-fiction, and this is most of this category. But they're all thinks which I picked up because they're interesting, and I will get them read and then get them sold or donated.
I am also working my way through food supplies, fancy teabags, and all sorts of things which were taking up cupboard space. I can see countertops and most of the floors, whatever can be happening to me?!
Loving reading about your revealations and the secret thrill of samosa-ing. I bought a bottle of wine on the way home from w*rk (party at the weekend) and came home, put it in the fridge, and samosa'd the bag which I'd taken from my pocket in the shop, and got it back into a samosa and back into my coat pocket - before I even took the coat off.Which I then hung up nicely on a padded hanger on the clothes rail.
My family say will whoever has stolen the real GQ kindly bring her back, they're not sure they recognise this one.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Love this woman's idea of using ring binders for current year papers
Much easier to find than scrambling through box files.
Not sure how you would store birth certificates ect though
As they aren't current year
Just quoting this I can do the paper work thing at the weekend
thanks JinnyNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Spent most of this afternoon in York with DD looking fir nice fabric to reupholster six dining chairs for middle DD who has just had a dining table and chairs delivered (pre loved or fleabay - not sure which.)
After a lot of searching found some fabric that "would do" but did not buy it as I wanted to check with DD. Got home and searched for fabric shops online and found some having a sale. DD popped home tonight and I showed her some of the fabrics and there were two she really liked.
Have now ordered enough fabric for six chair seats that should have been £32 a metre but was on sale for £9 and it looks beautiful and "shabby chic" will go well once she has painted chairs white or cream.
Decided it was a bit silly to ask myself if something "gave me Joy" when it was already here and in a cupboard etc. and then settle for "It will do" when looking for something special for DD's new home."This site is addictive!"
