What a truly fabulous first (half) day off yesterday. We had a lovely time taking the dog out, riding the ponies and getting on top of a few things.

Today's tasks are yard now 8-12:30 ish, treat kids to McD's for lunch (this is a one off) then home, cupboard hat and scarf boxes sorted so items go in owner's box, finish pantry, clean fridge, inventory freezer, pantry, fridge and steam kitchen tiles. If time I will start the utility too but we're out tonight and so I need to shower, wash hair and go back to feed the horses before we leave. It's a family thing, not a night out (thank g0d).

    Have a lovely day all.

Morning diary land!! It's Thursday and I have had the loveliest time off so far. We've been places, done things, bathed ponies, had laughs and tears, watched films, created and decorated and cleaned! We're still only half way through the cleaning but it's given me food for thought and these lovely light nights are doing wonders for my motivation so all is well in my world.

I've just had a quick update to catch up but I shall be back to normal next week if not before. For now, I'm going to wake the kids and head off to the yard. I'm mucking out and riding this morning then back for DD's lesson this afternoon.

Well hello!!! Long time, no see!

What a simply fabulous time off I've had. I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and feel very refreshed to be coming back to work. I'm also trying to remain positive about work, it pays the bills and I mostly enjoy it. What is there to be unhappy about?! It doesn't stop me counting down to the next holiday though at the end of May :D.

OK so what's been happening. Well the loan pony sadly is poorly, he has ulcers which I'm pleased to say Caz's thoughts helped me think of that and I suggested it to the owner who got the vet and confirmed that. He also has back issues sadly, he'd only 10 so it's very hard for the owner, my friend, right now. She's asked me to stop paying to him for 5 weeks until she's sorted. That's fine, I totally know where she's coming from, she wants to get him fixed without worrying someone else is paying for him or she should be offering anything for the payment. So that's £12 a week I don't have to find making life a bit easier as job 2 used to pay for that.

Unfortunately the big girl's cough has got a lot worse so we had the vet check her too and it's a respiratory issue that requires stable management and turnout. Given that we still don't have full time turn out, that is being discussed with the yard owner at the moment. She will be fine though, that's the good news.

Also the dog ( I know, animals cost a lot! ) has been poorly with his ear and after a vet trip and harsh words from me to the vet who i felt messed me around, we have a more comfortable dog with a healing ear.

The good news is the big gas and electric bill has now been paid for, there is a new direct debit in place for that which is lower than anticipated based on our use last year, all expenses have been paid in and back out (we have work credit cards so I hate that) so all big bills out however we've not been charged for yesterday's vet visit yet. I'm guessing that won't be astronimical though. The blooming dog cost more than the horses normally do.

In other money, well there's none left :D I have £25 for the groceries to last me until a week on friday - that's not as scary as it sounds as I can make that work as I've all of the meat in to last me this month and next it seems!

I'm off to check my accounts and see where we're at. A few small ebay sales which I need to send out today too. I find ebay so frustrating!

Oh an dI've lost 5.5lb, not sure how as been eating unhealthily far too much whilst off.
Also the student loan company seem to have added money to what I owe, I am presuming it is the year end interest given that we're now in April, so I will call them at lunch time to see what's what. Either way, it'll still be paid this year.

OK all accounts are updated. I know what I have left for grocery and fuel until the end of the month. Additionally the forecast for the next few months. The overall debt amount now reflects the updated figures from the student loan company however no goals are changing.

  • Poor loan pony, but really glad it's been diagnosed rather than just written off as naughtiness. Are the back issues muscular or is it kissing spine? If it's muscular, she may well find that he's been carrying himself tensed up because of the pain from the ulcers and once his stomach is sorted, a good physio will be able to put him right fairly fast. At least he's a small pony, so the omeprazole bill isn't going to be as massive as it would be for 17.2! If she's not insured, ping me, there are ways of reducing the costs that not all vets are aware of, there are a couple of new products on the market that are the same thing but will work out cheaper if she gets a prescription from the vet.

    You're so close to sub-£30k!!
