well done to your mil, Bossy:T:T would love to see how that letters worded if it ever gets sent out.
just used up a tube of hand cream so thats recycled and another in its place. i find if i leave one on the shelf by the door others will use it as well as they go in and out.
DS1 just rushed in he'd forgotten to take something to work he needed. bagged all scout & paper stuff going to bag the piles of stuff ready to be sent to their different ways now then tackle the hall tree.

wendy my shredder is like that if i do more than a couple of minutes it needs 25 mins rest to cool down so i try to do a few sheets then let it have a couple of mins while i sort another lot so it will let me carry on. can you bag it up in CS bags or something and refill your bin after its been emptied? were lucky in that we get rolls of brown and green bags we can put unlimited amounts of out. we are limited to 3 black bags of rubbish a week but with recycling its as much as we can do. Brown are for paper and card, (and clothing if you use seperate bags) green are for tins plastics tetra pacs and foil. the only thing we have a box for is glass they are offering us garden bins in the spring if wed perfer them to the bags we have at the mo.

Nicki, keep your door shut as much as you can while the flat over from you is being cleared. hugs and coping vibes to you as well must be rather stressful worrying about it.

Its actually a 1930s terrace house same as mine, and they've just ordered another skip, or two! I'm keeping the doors closed and will warn DD when she texts to say she's on the way home after drama club. I'm dreading the spiders & other bugs that live in there trying to find new homes. _pale_ But I'm hoping its a sign that the sycamore tree in his back yard which is taller than the house will be going as well. I can hear them now with the shovels still trying to make a pathway into the house. The entrance way is only big enough to open the door so its not like its a proper hallway!:eek:

Time to update finances, do my newsletter for work but putting the books etc can wait until tomorrow. I'm not going out today unless I really really have to and putting the books out requires multiple trips, plus its raining. I have plenty I can be getting on with and lots of recorded programmes on the TV if I want to watch it. But to be honest I'm too nosey about whats going on with the house next door to have anything on :o :rotfl::o Having lived in the road just over 14 years, and next door for 10.5 of those I'm glad to see its finally being cleared. :o:o

Right, finances then a dishes at 10.30

sorry nicki i misread, when i saw across the alleyway i read it as passageway and assumed you meant flat. i was wondering how on earth they were going to get everything out down lifts or stairwell.
it sounds like one of those properties you see on the hoarder programmes.
i do hope it doesnt cause you any visitors, hopefully something can be done about them before they disperse into the neighbourhood

    Morning all

    Walk done, in the drizzle
Outside lights taken down (apart from the ones which require a step ladder)

Going to put the WM and then get the boxes down from the loft and start undercoating the house.

    Morning all

My new nightly routine meant that I forgot to update yesterday evening!

Narco - As a single person, I'm guilty at food wastage, especially fresh fruit and veg. I can't seem to eat it quick enough, no matter how hard I try. I discovered at the weekend frozen sliced mushrooms in Sainsbugs, mushrooms are a staple of my bulk cooking but they don't all get used before they shrivel. They need to be cooked a bit longer to burn off the excess water, but I couldn't tell the difference between them and fresh.
Dusty - I'm glad the kittens are bonding with one of the older cats. What did you decide to call them?

    Last night's flying:

    Microwave cleaned
    Fridge cleaned and re-organised
    Counter tops and table wiped
    Kitchen floor swept

Will try to remember to report back after the paid stuff

Monday ~ Kitchen and Dining area
    15 minutes...
Sweep and mop the floors - DONE
Clear and wipe the worksurfaces - DONE
    39 minutes to spare...
Wash the units and appliances - had a kitchen cleaning blitz of the hob and sink on Friday but couldn't hurt to go over again
Give the pan cupboard a good scrub out.. fling the plastic tubs with no lids/botttoms/broken - no pan cupboard (they live on the hob due to tiny kitchen) but will clean the plastic tub cupboard instead
Wipe over window sills and shine the taps
    Got an hour...
Sort paperwork, warranties, insurance docs, phone contracts etc into a file so they are easily accessible and make notes of when things need renewing! - already got one of these but have a few bits I need to file eg for things I bought over Christmas, payslips etc
Clean table and add a clean cloth if needed
    Dust and deweb

    Extras

    • Binbag dance
    • Thoroughly clean a small appliance (descale kettle/decrumb toaster for example)
    • Make sure diaries/calendars are up to date with appointments!!!

Updates in quotes as above. I didn't do as much as I'd like because I ended up having to do some work last night which took longer than I thought, but will try and catch up tonight/at the weekend. What tips do you have to fit it all in - especially those of you who work full time and have long commutes?

Oh well, onwards and upwards with today's challenge...

Tuesday ~ Living/family room, hallway and stairs
    15 minutes...
Declutter EVERYTHING that does not belong in these areas - decorations/cards need to come down today so this will be a big part of it
    Dust and deweb
    30 minutes to spare...
Vacuum/mop.. inc. under furniture you can move without hurting yourself!
Clear tops of cupboards/coffee tables/magazine racks etc
Wipe and water plants - no plants in our house!
    Got an hour...
Tidy coats and bags and shoes and make certain everything is ready for back to school! - this is mostly done as part of my big tidying blitz on Friday but will have another scan and neaten up shoes etc
Wipe banister rails/stair spindles/paintwork - no stairs as we live in a flat but presume this includes skirting boards/doors etc?
    Tidy away christmas decs

    Extras

    • Filing.. all the papers you just gathered up (will file papers from yesterday as well)
    • Wash any soft furnishings that have not been done in a while or need doing
    • Wipe door handles and tops of door frames
    • Vacuum sofas.. don't forget under cushions!
    • Catch up on important phone calls... if you do it now you have time to chase the follow up calls later in the week!

Minerva - the lists are a guide, not a must do. I live on my own and work full time, so do what bits are relevant to me. Sometimes I work off list as things need doing - for example, today's list is LR, hallway & stairs, but my bedroom might need attention and the LR, hallway & stairs are ok.

Doing a little each day, really does help and I no-longer spend the majority of my weekend cleaning. Do what you can, even if that means you only spend 5 minutes cleaning the kitchen sink. There is no failure on flyday.

Morning all, final day off work, and DD back to school. However, still feeling cold ridden and generally lethargic, so going to try and do some low grade flying, in 15 min chunks today.

    Extra Extras

Trace pattern for DD's World Book Day costume (don't panic, it's not until March, but I know it's going to take some effort!)

Get dinner out of freezer (HM lasagne or HM chicken casserole, haven't decided)

Investigate "wide mouthed flasks", DD has said that guitar lessons at school are a struggle as they are at dinner time, so I said she could have a packup on that day ... if I can find something to contain something warm like pasta salad or cous cous.

    6 items to declutter

    Done:

    TD x 1
    DW x 1
Dirty clothes gathered together for washing
    Coffee decluttered
