Problem with Ebay sale - buyer broke 2 items!

Message the buyer and ask them for further information as to how they became broken.0

Initially buyer said they broke after a few times, now she says son broke one pair under adult supervision, and she broke one pair adjusting it on son.
As I have sold over 80 of these headphones with no complaints I find it very strange that 2 should just break in the same hands - I do have another buyer who has said that the sound has gone in one ear and I have offered to replace that one, but that's different.0 -
If I drive my new car into a tree, I can't make a claim under the warranty.
Ask for them to be returned, and send them to your supplier so they can check if it's a design fault or misuse from the buyer.
I suggested she return one pair as you said, but she has opened a "return request" as 'something is wrong with the item' - so I also have to pay return postage.
Any advice?0 -

You will be charged return postage costs. It will be added to your fees. All you can really do is refund on return, block the buyer and report them to Ebay. If other people have reported them then action may be taken but to be honest its very unlikely.
I have had items returned to me as "faulty" that are in perfect working condition. Buyer can return an item for free this way. I have to pay return postage and I get a defect.0 -
If this is how it works, how can anyone make any money selling on ebay?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Thankfully not every buyer on Ebay is bad. Unfortunately you normally do not find the bad ones till it is too late.
Until someone invents a way to sell online to a huge customer base with no problems, you just have to put up with it.0 -

The odd thing is I have just had one of those- the wording (which is hugely cut so as not to identify the item) says
Hello XXX
XXXX let us know that something is wrong with xxx. As a result, they requested to return the item for a refund.
Next steps:
See the request details and be sure to reply to the buyer by 19 Jan, 2015. Starting on that day, the buyer can ask us to step in and help by opening a case - this can affect your seller level.
So clicked on further actions and I was given the option of buyer returning the item at their own cost, or I could just refund, or I could offer a partial- there was also a 4th option to correspond with buyer. So I agreed the return and buyer has been sent my address for return, no monies have bene taken for me nor have I been charged for a label.
The buyer though has done this as a return, not a SNAD claim and has stated she has decided the item wasn't exactly as she expected and has decided to return it.
It looks like the wording ebay are using for a straight return is wrong (gosh, there's a surprise, ebay getting their cases and requests confused) as this is definitely a return, despite eBay telling me that buyer says there is something wrong
I did do a SNAD claim about a month ago (my first for ages) and in that case I either had to send the buyer the money for the return, or allow ebay to charge me £2.80 for a label.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Selling what people want and having a website with good SEO works for me.
That said I've done very well with Gumtree of late, after doing well with Facebook, so it goes to show ebay is not the only option."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Is Gumtree working for you OK? I used to do OK ish, nothing much but I could shift a few things- but then it seemed to drop off a cliff and all I got were the scam emails 'I want your item and will pay £100 extra for it if you ship it to my brother who is a missionary in Africa, just send me tracking details and paypal will release the money'.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Gumtree is wonderful for me at the moment, getting top money for stuff, selling pretty quickly too.
Put something on there for twice what I'd normally sell it for on a Sunday, and sold and paid for by Monday lunchtime."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
