That means mortgages and BTL`s in Aberdeen and various parts of the UK relying on North Sea oil money have just had their oxygen supply pulled. Maybe you just don`t like engaging with the realities of what a rent and house price crash looks like for fear of denting your own rose tinted view?

Pretty silly post IMO, don`t you know how important London has been to the UK economy, or that people from all over the UK are employed (or were employed) by the City? That means mortgages and BTL`s in London and various parts of the UK relying on the City's money have just had their oxygen supply increased. But you agree that bankers are losing their jobs and that the money that was once there to pump London and float other markets near London isn`t there any more right?0 -

Whatever.
Oil is not an unimportant part of the economy, but nor are we solely reliant on oil. It accounts for less than 10% of our total tax take, per PWC. More so Scotland, but luckily they didn't vote for independence.
As for Aberdeen, it is a city of 200,000 in a country of 64 million. It just isn't that important to the vast majority of Brits, who are going about their normal lives rather than worrying about house prices the other end of the country. As much as you'd like it to be otherwise. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? With respect to HAMISH and any other posters with strong ties to Aberdeen, I suspect that if the town slipped into the sea then within a few years it would simply be an oddity unnoticed for most.0 -

It skews the house price averages up for Scotland as a whole, as does London for the UK, when these cities pop people will notice.0
