How many times a day do you need to make love to conceive a little one?0
-
Hi all. Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of weeks. I got a bfp and was very happy, I took another three tests over the next couple of days including a digital as I loved seeing the positive result. Unfortunately eight days later I started bleeding heavily and got bfn when I tested. So now I'm back on the ttc rollercoaster and it feels so disheartening to start temping and using opks again.
Freddiefrugal I hope you and your OH are having a good weekend. Cramps with no AF was my only early symptom when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have my fingers crossed for you.
Chcolatelover I know many people with pcos and children so don't be too disheartened. I hope you get the help you need.
Rachylou unfortunately AF and pregnancy often have the same symptoms which can lead to false hope which makes the tww harder sometimes. Fortunately your fertile window is unlikely to be around your AF so unpleasant symptoms shouldn't stop you BDing at the right time. Generally we only have a 4-5 day window each cycle and you only know for sure when that was after its finished (if you are temping) although opks and cm can give you some warning. The thing is not everyone has a 28 day cycle and ovulation on day 14 so it's good to learn what your body is doing.
Catoutofthebag there's differing opinions but I've read that once every other day is best for creating optimal sperm although once a day when you think you're about to ovulate probably couldn't hurt. Last month I followed the Sperm Meets Egg Plan and I think I'm going to give that a go again this month. It's every other day from cd8, then once you get a positive opk you dtd that day, the two days after, have one night off and then dtd again the night after that just in case your opk was wrong or a bit early. Unfortunately even if you dtd at the right time you still have more chance not conceiving than conceiving so you can't control everything, but this method does mean you're unlikely to miss your fertile window even if ov surprises you by coming early one month.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Once a day...normally. Sperm can survive for 3-5 days, possibly up to a week.
it also takes time for a man's sperm to be replenished, so it's not a good idea to do it constantly as it will be with a depleted sperm count
Nor should it be left too long as the sperm does age and end up with reduced motility.
Standard recommendation seems to be every 2-3 days, as that in theory gives the best balance.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Yeah catoutthebag to add to what everyone else has said it's much more about the timing in the month than the number of times, you can do it as much as you like but if it's not around your ovulation time you're unlikely to conceive.
9DPO for me, we should know either way by the weekend...!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Hi all,
Didn't think that I'd be posting on a forum like this... Genuinely never thought I'd want children.
DH and I have decided that we'd try again soon - we did try last year but unfortunately due to circumstances and previous demons I became quite unwell mentally so to save my sanity and our marriage we put it on hold.
What I was wondering was if anyone had any information on how they came off the pill - mine's to control hormones from my PCOS (GP told me to come off cold turkey last time. Silly idea) and if any one has had any experience trying to conceive whilst on Citalopram.
We're going to see the doctor together in half term, different GP I think this time though lol :rotfl:Back in the red :mad:

Still testing negative and no AF arrived
My breasts have calmed down from a soreness point of view. Felt nauseous yesterday and had a few cramp like pains yesterday and this morning. Lost appetite completely also. I just wish one or the other would happen. This is so frustrating and it's only my first month TTC. But the sore breasts symptom and loss of appetite are new to me completely which is why I am so confused.
The pill I was on was Femodene if anyone has any info about what happened when they stopped it.0 -
Welcome Vix hope your stay here is short
Kynthia - So sorry to hear that
catoutthebag - I've read different things in different places, some say once a day, some say every other day. My doctor told me that twice a week should do the trick. We didn't want to turn it into a chore we still want to have fun. Plus stress isn't good when TTC so I recommend not putting something on like every other day but just do it when you feel like doing itand good luck
Cats, Freddie and Rachy FX for both of you
Happilymarried - Welcome and hope your stay here is shortnot too sure about the coming off the pill with PCOS advice, probably best to ask the doc what is the right thing for you to do.
CD 63 herejust wish AF would hurry up and show!! Keep getting cramps but not sure if it is just my body playing tricks on me

Rachy I was on femodene but unfortunately I don't think my experience is helpful as i just had a very boring month where I was waiting for my first "proper" AF as it were.
I wouldn't worry - remember the pill has been suppressing your hormones a bit, so maybe yours are just going a bit crazy whilst you level back out?
Chocolate - i remember that from last month!! CD75 in the end!! Our bodies are ridiculous aren't they>!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

I like how it's got busy again on here! Although obviously I hope you all move on to the next thread as soon as possible!!
AF die today. Been crampy for a week.
No cramping today, no AF either.
Wait and see if it shows up tomorrow. If not maybe we'll test Wednesday morning? I say maybe as its not up to me and she doesn't like the idea of testing early and being disappointed.
So it could be a few days yet...or AF might appear and then no test required.
Pointless thinking about it...impossible not to though!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
