  • Hi chocolatelover

Delurking because I was in a very similar position to you - we started TTC in Oct/Nov 2014 and in January, concerned about irregular periods (also present since adolescence), I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with PCOS. Ironically, the day I was diagnosed I conceived, but it ended about five weeks later in early miscarriage.

There are different severities of PCOS, and your doctor should be able to advise on your personal circumstances. We did a lot of reading up on the various studies, and the most helpful non-prescription supplement, according to all the research, is myo-inositol, 4g a day over two doses. You can get it fairly easily online (try the Zita West clinic or Serious Supplements) and my understanding is that it helps to regulate insulin, which is one of the key issues of PCOS. It's difficult to know how much it helped, but I did fall pregnant again in July and am due in about eight weeks now. And for me, it helped at least to feel I was doing something, it gave me a little bit of control back (which isn't to say the process wasn't still difficult and frustrating!)

Please note that I have no medical training and can't recommend the supplement, but I wanted to share my experience. Your doctor may suggest Clomid, which is an ovulation stimulating fertility drug - I did try that and it gave me a 75 day cycle  But that was the cycle I got my sticky bean, so who knows whether or not it really worked! Best of luck with it all - I know it's a blow, but there are thousands of women in the same boat and it doesn't by any means spell the end of your baby dreams.

Wishing everyone all the best :) *relurks*

    Hope all works out Chocolate

We're alright here. AF due on Monday, however as I've posted previously we suspect it'll be earlier as OV seemed earlier than predicted.

She's been having cramps since Sunday... 5 days is an unusual length of time for her to be having AF like cramps without actually having AF, they usually start a couple days before at most.

Already symptom checking, she's been having very strong wee even though she's drinking plenty, which apparently can be a pregnancy symptom, although if you do a google search pretty much ANYTHING can be a pregnancy symptom!

But I bought a new pack of tests as we only have one left after confusion last month.
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

    Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,000

Sorry angel :-( how many dpo was that? Any chance it's still too early?

AFM I'm one week into the TWW so 7DPO. Trying to prepare myself for the worst as I don't have any symptoms or anything but then I need to remember you're not likely to!! But when you Google so many people say they did *must stop googling*!!

Went for a run this morning which cleared my head a bit though.

  • Hi everyone

Really sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I have read all the rules of all pregnancy related threads and feel this is most appropriate but please tell me if not. Hope I get the terminology right.

I came off Femodene pill on New Years Day. Bled two days later, which clearly was withdrawal, nothing since.

Since then we have been DTD regularly and I have experienced CM on a few occasions for the first time in my life

I've tested a few times as I have no way of knowing with no proper periods but all were BFN.

Since Tuesday this week, my breasts have become heavy, painful and unbearable to touch which is completely new to me as well. I've been on/off contraception for years and never have experienced this.

Since I had a BFN today, my friend seems to think this is just AF coming. I am convinced I am testing too early and want to do another test tomorrow. I'm going so far as to avoid alcohol tonight on a night out in case I am pregnant.

Is it possible to get a negative/positive within a day? Am I just over emotional/anxious? I guess I probably don't want it to be AF but I just strongly feel that it's a pregnancy. I don't want to be the crazy girl who ends up testing daily. I feel like I'm going mad :(
  • Sorry to hear that Angel :(

FX Cats I think sometimes Googling is the worst thing, like Freddie said it seems EVERYTHING is a preggo symptom!! Although a lot of women don't feel anything for the first few weeks. My mum said when she was preggo (she had 4) she didn't really get any symptoms in the first few weeks until she had morning sickness.

Rachy - sounds like it could be either, FX for you :)

As for me I'm on CD61!! Hoping AF shows up soon :/ been testing once or twice a week and getting BFN I know I'm not preggo but just can't help myself! Keep thinking AF is going to come but nothing :/ starting to think my body is playing tricks on me and giving me "placebo" AF symptoms :/

Cats I'm around 12-13dpo, so I think it should've shown on test, awh well, onto cycle 7 I guess.

Welcome Rachy you're def in the right place. It took a few months for my period to return after coming off the pill & I had practically every early pg sypmtom possible- obvs I wasn't pg, but I was convinced I was & it seriously messed with my head. I also now have very different symptoms in the lead up to AF than I did before (my boobs get massive & nipples really sore), which didn't help either. But others get pg as soon as they stop BC, so it is possible. I'd probably try to leave it a few days before testing again (hcg levels double every 48-72 hours in early pg), & use fmu & a test that is sensitive enough to detect even low levels of the hormone (there's a link to info about different tests on the first page). Good luck, keeping fx for you.
  • Thanks for the replies.

I'm sure googling doesn't help me either :o

I've spent today lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself, my boobs are just in agony. I can't concentrate on anything. Unsure if Paracetamol will shift it. I have a docs appointment next week so may bring it up as I can't go through this every month. It also will probably prevent me DTD and that would make 2 weeks a month it's off the table as my AF always lasts 7 days. Not good when trying to conceive!

I used First Response for the first time today, the others have been cheap ones from Poundland and the like as I don't want to spend lots of money when testing with no symptoms. But today I used First Response because of the symptoms. I may test again in a few days in case I'm doing it too early. Not sure I can last a week.

Rachy I agree it could be either. Fx for you but I also agree leave it a few days. Don't forget your fertile time is c.14 days after your AF if you have a 28 day cycle do into being up for DTD immediately pre/post isn't too big a problem.

Angel I still have hope - you're not out until AF arrives
