Hi everyone
Not been on this thread for a while but thought I would come back as I need some support.
This will probably be a bit of a long post but just need to get it all out there:
AF never showed up last month so I went to the docs last week (AF 3 weeks late) and she said even though I haven't been TTC for long (since Oct) because I had problematic periods when I was younger (the reason for me going on the pill) she thinks I could have a problem. She seems to think I have PCOS, she did some bloods I phoned the next day and they said it was ok and then yesterday I had a letter saying the doc wants to speak to me so I phoned them up and apparently my progesterone level isn't normal.
The letter said I have an appointment for TWO WEEKS time!! So not wanting to stress my self out I asked her to call me which she did. She said that she still thinks I have PCOS and will talk to me further in two weeks time and we can "sort my priorities out then" I don't know what she meant by that.
She's told me I need to loose weight (which I know and trying to do) but this news has left me and my hubby devastated. I know that there are things that can be done but still we are both so upset about it. I was just wondering if anyone has some advice or tips for us on how we can improve our chances of conceiving?
Thank you all for listening and baby dust to you all

Oh chocolatelover that's rubbish
But on the bright side, you may have some sort of diagnosis which means at least you can try to move on. With my thyroid, my OH has actually said it feels like a fresh start having some sort of diagnosis, which has really helped me.
Although I don't have it myself, from what I gather PCOS is very much beatable in terms of conceiving, there are plenty of success stories. It may just be that you need to focus on managing the PCOS rather than conceiving initially.
Very frustrating for you, especially that you have to wait two weeks, but try to stay positive. I'm sure someone else will have some proper tips as well!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Hi choc, I can't offer much advice on PCOS but I didn't want to read and run - I know lots of women have conceived with it though. At least you are getting some answers and can go from there. I know the wait is torture but stay close to your OH, you are in this together and you will get there. Hi.
Chocolate lover, i was in a very similar situation. I had very irregular cycles when I was younger so went on the pill.
I had been ttc for a year with irregular cycles (shortest was about 42 days, longest was about 170) when I went to the gp. I was sent for a blood test and a scan and the scan revealed cysts so with the irregular cycles I was told I had pcos. As we had been trying for a year I was referred to the fertility clinic, but got a bfp just before my appointment. That sadly ended in a mmc, but we tried again for another year and again just as I was getting referred I got my bfp which was now three weeks ago. Everyone is different and some people with pcos fall pregnant naturally and quickly, for others it takes time and sometimes it takes a bit of help medically, but it doesn't mean it is impossible.x0 -

Hi Choc sorry you're having a rotten time, & not getting an the info/reassurance you need. I'm afraid I don't have any experience with pcos, but agree totally with all the others have said. Fx you get some answers soon. Take care x0

Yes it is underactive I have. Been on the meds two weeks so far but hoping it's making a difference, can't say I've noticed anything but then I didn't think I had symptoms to start with!!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Just unlurking to say that it can take up to 4 weeks for your levels to stabilise after a change in thyroxine dose, that's why they normally leave it that long between a change and blood tests to check T4/TSH balance. Hope you're feeling better soon, and they've got your dose right to start off with. When I was diagnosed it took about 3 months of adjusting, waiting and retesting to get to a stable dose.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Yeah my blood test isn't until I've been on them 6 weeks, but when I googles some people claimed improvements right away!
Same with TTC though I guess, easy to find the success stories!!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Thank you Angel
Cats - my mum has the same (she got it after she had me). I know when her dose changes it takes a couple of weeks for her to notice the difference, although I can always see a big improvement when it does kick in
