I have a dog. She's sitting on the other sofa watching me type this like some sort of stalker. It's a bit like having a child, I think, except when a child misbehaves, you can't put them in a crate for ten minutes. That sort of thing is apparently frowned upon

More signs of AF looming tonight, which I mentioned to DH. He was disappointed and said "I failed?". Now I feel bad for him too, just in case my own self-loathing wasn't enough.

Good luck Pinkshoes - hope you get a sticky one this month :)

  • Oh Cuilean :( It's not a failure by either of you, just things not lining up this month. There's only so much we can do to help Mother Nature on her way - there's only a one in three chance of pregnancy even if everything lines up perfectly, so it's very much a lottery. And hopefully you'll get your winning ticket soon :D

If you find out how to not stress, babyb, please let me know! The tww I can just about handle - it's the 3/4/more week, will I/won't I wait for ovulation that kills me. Still no idea what's happening this month - a couple of hormone surges, no temp change, and no idea if I have released/will release an egg or when AF is likely to show. If it doesn't get clearer soon, the men in white suits are going to have to come for me :o

Ok, am sat down having a proper catch up on here…
    @LittleMoog - Huge Congratulations!
@JoBatch – been thinking of you xxx
@Pinkshoes – fingers x this is a good month ahead for you, you deserve some good news!
@Cuilean – I am a teacher too and was watching the SRE DVD with the children where they are running around tickling each other with a fish bone, then BAM there is a baby… errrr, bit unrealistic?! Please please don’t either of you feel like a failure – it’s so hard though I know!
@Aileth – glad you have had a shorter cycle this month!
@Rambosmum – I am going to punch the next person who says “your turn next!!!!” or “So when is there going to be a little ellesbelles?” I actually LIED the other day again (I never lie) to a good friend as I can’t keep being all positive “Well we will see what will happen” – I actually just said no we weren’t trying!!!
@Blackribboner – Sorry you are stressed too L I have everything crossed that things are going to look up for you asap!
@Lulu92 – you sound like I feel! Hang in there lady xxx

AFM… I think I have stressed myself into not having a period L I always have a cycle of 24-29 days whereas I am currently on CD34 and apart from a teeny bit of spotting – nothing.
(I have tested several times and BFN every time more’s the pity!)
    Sigh!!!!

Anywho - welcome to all the newbies and hugs to everyone - here is hoping for lots of 2016 babies!!!!!!!!!!!XXX

Lots of teachers on this thread! (Me too!)

Was just reading about increased miscarriage odds if the father is over 40. DH is 43!!

I have two manic spaniels and a 4 year old, so would love another child to add to my wonderfully hectic lifestyle! It has been 14 months since we started trying, and just two MMCs at 12 then 9 weeks so far.

The hospital said that if I get a BFP again, they will scan me at 8 weeks to see if it is viable.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Hi all

Pinkshoes, I could have almost written your post.

I also read about the 40+ fathers. OH is 43, TTC (my) first for over 18 months :eek::eek: and had two MMC at 9 weeks. I just need to swap the spaniels for two cats.

The consultant who saw me for the second ERPC said to get in touch if I get pregnant again and he would try his hardest to give me some extra TLC which was very nice of him.

My BIL was 45 when his first child was born and 46 when the second was born so he was 44 and 45 at the time of conception.

I also have a friend who fathered his last 2 children in his 50s and another who was 50 when he and my friend conceived.

Just thought I'd tell you about these men so it's one less thing to worry about :)

Rampant Recycler I've been Money Tipped!
I was reading What to Expect Before You're Expecting last night and it does mention factors such as age, but it also says that doesn't mean it's a definite and there are exceptions to the rule. Hopefully for you ladies it'll all work out soon :)

I asked OH to buy me a tortoise :rotfl: he didn't actually say no...

  • Lulu, I'd take that as a yes and get him into the pet shop pronto :D

On the age thing - although risks may increase with the years, it's far from universal and generally the increase isn't huge. And being younger doesn't guarantee you'll have no or fewer problems. Ultimately I think it's just the luck of the draw, and some of us need a few more goes on the tombola than others - but the odds are pretty good we'll all get a prize, one way or the other (I'm all about the gambling metaphors today!)

    Lulu,

A friend of mine had a tortoise and it was such a character. If allowed to, it would bite the dogs! It was really small but the dogs were terrified of this slow moving, small tortoise. Was hilarious to watch too!
