Well yesterday I got the news I have been dreading. My husbands job looks almost definite to come to an end. This means that we now have the difficult decision to make as to whether we move to Scotland and have to uproot the kids (the eldest of which has just settled into high school and now loves it - after a few teething problems) or my hubby works away and only comes back when he is off shift (which will mean him being away from the kids for at least half the year). :(

Whatever decision we come too it will definitely affect my crafting life - if we move we will only be able to afford a much smaller house and therefore I will have hardly any room for crafting supplies or if we stay and he works away money will be a lot tighter as we will have to pay his accommodation and travel costs as well as our mortgage here so not much stash buying for me :(

On the plus side these thoughts are helping my de-stashing as while I'm organising I am only keeping things that I really love and know I could use :)

I'm hoping to finish my craft room organisation today so hopefully may be able to get a few bits made in the next couple of days :)

    Happy stash busting everyone :)

So sorry to hear the bad news Craftingmad; hope something gets sorted.

Would it be possible to join you in your stashbusting all?

Oh craftingmad, I'm sorry to hear your news.

We Scots are quite friendly, really.

You might not have as difficult a time with finding a suitable house. I believe prices here are (generally) a bit less than in much of England. But remember, what ever happens, home is where the heart is. xxx

  • Craftingmad, I am sorry that you got the dreadful news of your husbands redundancy. Are there no jobs locally that your husband can apply for?

Hi, another 25 cards made using up more random card blanks.

Going to do some scrapbook pages this week so I don't sicken myself using up the stash to make cards.

Hope everyone is well and stash busting.
  • Hi

Well done Craftyc, you are well past the half way mark and its only the middle of January.

I can declare I have made another wreath still in the Christmas theme. I have almost completed making leaves for the next wreath, which has more of a spring theme to it.

Hope everyone is keeping well and diminishing their stash :)

This weeks stash bust: 1. a leather bird keyring from a kit I had for christmas, 2. sewed on replacement crochet flowers onto a jacket.
Doesn't seem like much, but I've started to knit a little, and am working on a rag rugged leather cushion, which is really quite tiring with cutting all the pieces out and pulling them through the hessian! Fabric is much easier!

  • Sorry to hear about your husband's job, Craftingmad. I know from experience how difficult it is, but it does get better.

I have been able to do some stash-busting:

    7 silk necklaces
    1 silk bracelet
    1 Pilates mat bag

so first 9 added to my total for 2015!:)

I'll download my photos later and share them with you once I've figured out what I need to do!
