Thanks for doing this - revisited the 2014 one and have a number to carry over!
    1. To lose weight and yo-yo less - have lost and gained the same half stone the past 2 years! have not lost more but stayed pretty constant but do fit in things better, been doing 5:2 pretty well this year
    2. To have a decent work-life balance - ridiculous hours this past year nope! still mad hours and lots of travel to boot - hubby did ask if I was going to get an apartment in Gothenburg as I was there so much!
    3. To be more active - health issues may rule out gym but will make effort to at least walk more Didnt happen - did re-star5t pilates and gym but hip has deteriorated and having hip replacement on 15 Feb
    4. To de-clutter at home and work Sort of...but decoroating so not quite the same
    5. We will get the bathroom refurbished, the loft floorboarded and decorate living room and our bedroom Bathroom loft and one bedroom done...ours is having new furniture fitted and being decorated in January
    6. To do more home cooking on and off - not as much as I'd like
    7. To sort my photos out - if my PC crashed I would lose far too much work in progress! but do now have photos on an external drive
    8. To make more time for friends and family - ties in with 2, work got in the way of too much last year more quality time with those that matters and found out a few friends aren't what I thought!
    9. To support DH who gives up his day job soon to focus purely on being a DJ - big change for us, could cause tensions if not careful! yes, hasnt been easy but 8 months in we're hanging in there
    10. To find something positive in every day - too easy to moan about things and lose sight of good stuff hope so, was told today that people wouldn't realise I was in pain as I'm always so cheerful so must be doing something right at work at least

    Hi belfastgirl23

New Year is nearly upon us. Is there a 2016 thread? :)

Edit, sorry I've just noticed this thread was started on New Years Day. Please ignore me, I'm getting ahead of myself!

This has been a difficult Christmas as my husband told me a few weeks ago that he plans to move out in the New Year. It was a complete bolt from the blue, but we have been trying to have a 'normal' Christmas for the sake of DS who has been struggling and stressed out by first term at Uni.

So, my hope for next December is that, however things pan out over the next year, that I am still here in my beloved home, in a happier place emotionally, and that DS is also happy and successful.

If I could lose some weight and get a bit healthier (too much comfort eating lately) that would be a bonus.

Well, husband left in January. We are in the process of divorcing (although soon-to-be-ex-husband has discovered that the grass isn't as green on the other side as he thought it would be and isn't happy)
We have made an agreement over finances, just need a judge to approve. Hopefully this will happen in spring 2016 and, if judge is satisfied, will mean I can keep my home.

DS has been devastated by husband's actions and has continued to struggle at uni but seems determined to stick it out (short term pain for long term gain) He refused to see his Dad for several months, although they have met up a few times in the last few months.

Failed totally on losing weight, if anything I've gained ( still comfort eating) but am determined to get this in hand next year.

Fab, I am up for this :)
    I would like to:

*Qualify as a mental health nurse in August with hopefully a starred 1st class...I DID IT :) Starred first class and the highest grades in my cohort :)
*Get a job in my favoured area...Yep, got my job too
*Save SOME money...Have just started saving in a help to buy isa. Nice to have money to be able to do this.

*Spend more time together as a family, having fun....We had lots of lovely outings together, but this year was definately a challenge in terms of juggling uni, then starting my new job once qualified.
*Buy a new car, as ours are old....Yes, I got a new car too! and funnily enough, bought another one today to pull our caravan :)
*Continue to have a happy marriage...tick!

*Lose a stone in weight,as it appears to have crept on over the past year....FAIL!

    I think thats it!

Jinkies!!! Well, it looks as though I have managed to achieve my goals, barring the weight loss, which is fine by me. There is always next year :)

1 - Sort out my relationship, either be happy with my lot or find the courage to end it. Ended it in June, still struggling with his reactions and still need to sort out problems with childcare arrangements, but i'm definitely happier now.
2 - Sort out my career, either apply for other jobs or commit to childminding full time. Have just got a new job after applying for posts all year, I start on the 14th January!
3 - Do something with my music to get my confidence up - join a choir. Joined a choir at the beginning of the year and did 2 terms which I loved. Unfortunately had to leave because of childcare issues.
4 - Once confidence is up - go busking. Didn't do this, maybe in 2016 but right now it's not as high on my list as it was.
5 - Be more active with friendships, by making new ones and sustaining old ones. Have kept up good contact with my 3 closest friends, 1 of them I don't know what I would do without now. This resolution makes me laugh because I got way more active with one of my male friends than I ever thought I would have! Unfortunately it also makes me sad because we can't be together and I have now had to end a good friendship :(

Overall a good year full of changes! I've broke someone's heart and had my heart broken but I wouldn't change a thing! This time last year I had a list of things I was unhappy with and knew I needed to change. I'm going into 2016 with a new start and not a lot of things that I feel need changing! (Or nothing that I have control over anyway!)

    Hi all

Following on from Hurricane’s great threads the last couple of years, I thought it would be good to start thinking about what we want to achieve by December 2015. I did quite a specific list last year (and it was long too!) and succeeded on about half of it, my lesson for this year is to be clear what things are definite and non negotiable ‘must do’ and what are ‘would like to do ‘. Last year my major objective was to be more mindful – to take control of my life rather than just letting it happen.

I need to do a bit more thinking about my specific goals, I know for sure that there’s one around flexibility and posture that’s a key one. And definitely one around losing weight – this was not a success last year! I’ll update this by mid January.
    .
I’m figuring on re-activating this in December 2015 but happy to have updates in the meantime.

    Anyone else in?

    My goals are:
    Fitness and wellbeing:
To go to yoga twice a week and take up pilates Yes to yoga, pilates for a while
To improve my posture and flexibility nope
To walk 12k steps daily yes up til last couple of months
To spend more time with family and developing friendships have made more efforts but more to do on this
To lose a stone by Easter and maintain this loss no idea re Easter but the overall trend is not good :(

    Work:
To work towards a fair division of labour in my team yes
To take opportunities and build links across teams yes

    Personal
Support DH who is going through major (and hopefully positive) changes at the minute yes
Be mindful, write and reflect most days yes for the first half of the year, went downhill from there
Allocate my time mindfuly As above
Be kind to myself and accept my limitations have tried on this

Reviewing this isn't as bad as I expected. I feel I've really lost my mojo over the last while - key issues have been my work life balance being totally lost since the summertime - there are good reasons for this but it's had a major impact on my health and wellbeing as well as on my overall mood. It has also impacted my ability to live up to the other goals I'd set for myself. However I've not done as badly as I thought, a lot of my goals I did live up to at least for the first half of hte year. I think my list for 2016 is going to look quite similar though!!

Thanks everyone for reactivating this thread, I'd forgotten about it :) well done on the successes and remember it's always better to have a goal and fail than to not have a goal at all!
  • Thank you for doing this, I would love to do this this year...

    * do what I can to help others... But accept that for some, their happiness is their own to take too! Started to say no more!!! Helped people where I could though too :)
    * be healthier...exercise properly at least 3x a week and up veg intake (am v fussy eater)Always an area for improvement but been better!
    * save at least £3000, pay off family loan at least £3000. This has gone very well! Paid off family loan entirely (£6000 paid this year!) and saved £4500! Yay!
    * would love to conceive and maybe even have a baby this year but only limited control over that one!!! This one has been the tricky one this year - just found out this is going to be even trickier than we thought - there is hope! Maybe maybe next year!

Ok that's me for now!!! Happy new year!!!

Wow, well done everyone for your year!!!!
    Here's to the next!!!

    Fab thread. Ok:

    1) This is the last time I am going to change username on here, I've been on and off for years and always forget/give myself huge anxiety issue over going back to the old username.

    2) write in my online journal every other day from when I get home even just a word or two but it becomes part of my third year degree project so I need to do it.

    3) couch to 5k and run non stop a 5k colour run in September for my birthday.

    4) be kinder and look after myself a little more. Keep in mind that failing at a task doesn't mean I am a failure.

    5) read, write, watch, study more! Focus on the classics literary and film.

    6) finances... Oh those darned things... Get them together look at my credit report, organise paperwork and actually work out what is going in and out not just hoping card works at the register. Start using YNAB.

    7) eat healthier, fed the kids healthier. Get to grips with the slow cooker and less processed foods.

    8) lose weight - my goal is 40lbs overall but it doesn't have to be within the year.

    9) get a better more settled routine for us three including the days they spend with their dad.

    10) make £5 a week in amazon/PayPal to go towards Christmas 2015

I'm sure there is more but that will do for now :-)

Well, apart from keep the username - just a PM with my 1 year badge :rotfl: - I achieved none of these.

But you know what, it's ok. What I did achieve this year was brilliant and I did the 5k colour run, mostly walking... but I did it with a new bunch of friends and had a blast, I had a reduced price Christmas with the money I saved up in amazon from Topcashback and Quidco

I ticked off lots of things on my bucket list although there has been some bitter lows, overall 2015 really was the best year :)
