I've taken a bag of stuff to the charity shop. Some of the stuff had already made its way into the bag before I started this declutter challenge, therefore I'm not counting it. There WERE some extra bits though:

This morning I took a WHOLE HOUR to load up the car with bags of clothes and soft toys for Cash4Clothes.To be fair, when my 8yo asked if she could help,I did ask her to count every piece of clothing and soft toy, purely so I could record it here
.Then I thought I'd better fold everything nicely incase it helped get a little more money for the clothes, instead of them being rejected outright
.
So,we ended up donating 216 pieces of clothing (including 27 men's ties,so very light).Of these donations,20 pieces were rejected (frayed at bottom of legs in OH's trousers,a couple of stains on clothes,a pair of tracksut pants with small holes in).
There was also 76 teddy bears :eek::eek::eek::eek:
So,my tally so far:
196-391:clothes
392-468:teddies
For all that I was paid £22 (50p/kg,used to be 60p,but apparently gone down).I am quite pleased with that, since the clothes were all supermarket brands ,and very cheap clothes the inlaws buy for them when they go on holidays in Thailand. And nobody buys second hand teddies (none of these were rejected).
What was rejected today I have either put in the wash basket to see if they come up better for donation,or in a big bag labelled "Rags".I have never donated a bag of rags before,so will have to ask the shop I normally donate to if they take them, otherwise will have to take to another store.
I must go to work for a couple of hours soon, but at some time today will repack the 3rd bedroom now that I moved out about 9 bags of stuff. It is a tiny box room,so will see the difference.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Craft stuff....:o:o:o
Mainly collecting like with like at this stage, but various wrappings, two plastic cases and a bundle of knotted threads binned. All the patterns are now in one box, all the stitching kits are together and I have found the eyelet set that had 'disappeared' - not sure why it was in the bedroom blanket box though!
5 small candles, a bracelet and a decorative bag into CS box.
A jumper and a set of chair backs recycled.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

I hope you get a more sensible response than the one I received when I asked whether a CS would take rags (woollen items washed at too high a temperature!).
They said if I could take them in and they would end them to an incinerator for disposal - as a service to me rather than that they would receive a penny. I said I would use them for dusting/cleaning instead (at least that would save me a little expense and avoid the trouble of taking the items into the shop and their transporting them to the incineration point).0 -
Afternoon All
Since I posted last weekend, have filled the bin bag I was adding to. Bottom of my wardrobe clear out enabled me to do so, so 2 pairs of shoes and their boxes out, plus a few additional bits and pieces from hanging stuff and shelves to side.
My bedroom decluttering is almost complete now, just one shelf in top of wardrobe with photos, old tapes/records and saved cards/kids' artwork to do. I suspect that will take at least an afternoon uninterrupted and the contents will be harder to be ruthless with, so saving that bit for now, there are easier targets still at the moment.
Filled charity bag needs to go asap, might try to do that this afternoon.

In my experience several Charity Shops have welcomed my bags of rags:j. So long as the bags are labelled clearly as such and they don't have to waste time going through them they say they just add them to their masses of unweareable donations that the recyclers pay them for.
If one CS refuses them, just try another one Saver-upper. Good Luck:beer:.0
