Loads more shredding to be done as found more carp up stairs

Oh well looks like I am back to square one as the living room is looking rather messy again LOL!!!

Hope everyone is well. Keep it up

    Yours

Seem to be having a week where more is coming in to the house than leaving. This is mostly due to holiday later in the month which the kids have needed a few bits and pieces for. These have all been ordered online due to time constraints but I have been good and put the packaging straight in to recycling or eb@y stash

    12. Huge amount of foil from the garage - recycled
    13. Bag of batteries - recycled
    14. New pair of shoes returned to shop - didn't fit
    15. Work item dropped to customer
    16. Printer cartridge given to friend for recycling
    17. Muddy carrier bags binned from car boot

Have also removed some toys from playroom that the kids just don't play with but that I constantly seem to be picking up off the floor. I won't include them just yet though as they will be headed out in a few weeks for a toy sale.

No actual de-cluttering done today but the bedroom curtains were taken down, washed, dried, ironed and put back. Frame was wiped, window cleaned and polished. Didn't get round to changing the bed as time ran out so this is next on the agenda then can put the sweeper on. Next area to de-clutter is the upstairs landing which has another blanket chest to sort out however not half as bad as last one.

I've been a bit slack lately, went away for a few days and been doing long hours since but here's what I've managed since my last post.

Sold on the e of Bay :

    295-299 five handbags
300 pair of slippers (Christmas pressie, didn't fit)
301 expensive pink designer top that made me look like an ageing Barbie doll
    302 paperback book
    303 necklace

Not a massive amount of money made but it's very welcome none the less.

    304. Book given to friend
305 shower gel used up & recycled
306 rubbish M&S body scrub that wasn't in the slightest bit scrubby used up tube recycled
307-314 carrier bag of books donated to library 'books for sale' shelf.

Need to get my mojo back and fast or I'll never make my target!

With all the progress being made I am wondering if anyone else will still be doing this challenge by the summer? I will as have the garage and sheds to do, not to mention the loft!

Skintmama - I don't know if I'll still be doing this in the summer, but I'm at no risk of running out of stuff to declutter any time soon! And that's despite, today, hitting 100 items decluttered :j

saver-upper my heart fell when I read your post about the CS being closed for a refit. I was ridiculously happy for you, after all your hard work, that they still took all your stuff :j:j:j
  • My six for the sixth are 6 more baby coat hangers.

The first couple of nights I was tackled this task a bit randomly but the last couple of nights I have focused on my son's room. Will move on to the next room once I have decluttered his thoroughly.

As I said in my earlier post I've reached the dizzy heights of a total of 100 items decluttered :j:j:j
    Today has seen
10 craft magazines I no longer want being put into recycling.
3 pairs of socks with holes in - binned
7 books for am@zon trade in earning me another £25 :T
    5 books to the CS
    Lots of shredding
3 magazines dating back as far as 2007 :o recycled.

So tomorrow the 3 parcels will be sent to am@zon trade in, plus 2 large bags dropped off at the CS.

Eta superrhinos well done. you're doing so well.

Only three drawers left to do in kitchen now - then will start on cupboards.
I am keeping a record of de-clutter on my signature now to save keep numbering stuff. General recycling is not counted such as used packets, bottles and newspapers as they go out anyway :D

Finished the three drawers and then I went through all the bottom cupboards in the kitchen and threw out a few plastic pots, lids and bottles that were a bit grotty/not needed and a few old pot scrubbers (I keep used ones for the odd dirty job like washing flower-pots or oily hands but had too many).

Now just three top cupboards and my spice/herb/sauces cupboard to go through.

Hope you all have a sort-it-out Saturday

My house has been driving me crazy this week:the mess and chaos of decorating, the mess and chaos of using the front room as a bedroom (mattress and bedding on the floor all day, etc),kitchen a mess, not keeping up with stacking the dishwasher,hall-way filled just with 2 clothes-horses (ontop of the spare bedframe and disassembled wardrobe standing up in it),3rd bedroom overflowing with stuff to sort for charity....................

So,today I didn't go to work :o.Arranged to go tomorrow instead.I just couldn't have stood the house for another day-gggrrrrr.I figured I would get more done at home today with the kids at school.

Tonight the house looks much better. There is still too much stuff lying around, but at least some surfaces are clear.I spent TWO HOURS deep-cleaning my small kitchen:stacking dishwasher,hand-washing stuff that won't dishwash, tiles, windows, floor, putting away stuff from draining board, putting out recycling, returning toys/games/paperwork to rightful place.

I also cleared clutter from the entrance hall (folding and putting away washing, mostly :o),on the stairs,at the top of the stairs. Then I did an hour sorting stuff that has this week been chucked into the third bedroom (alot for charity).

Also put away a few things so that more than one seat of our 7-seater was useable :o.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had chickened out of donating bags of clothes because I decided I wanted to sort though them, maybe find a few bits to sell.Well, they are still sitting there in the "spare room" ( I call it "spare",but it is the 3rd bedroom we are supposed to be decorating for son so he can have his own room instead of sleeping on a mattress on his little sisters' floor). My plan is to take them all to Cash4Clothes tomorrow(the clothes, not the children :rotfl:).I know realistically I will never find the time to sort/photograph/list them on various sites, and this way at least I will get a bit of money for them.

Again,I still have nearly 4 bags of teddies waiting to do something with.I had intended to donate to Alexio's Teddy hospital.I have no idea how much it would cost to courier all those teddies to them, and today I found out that Cash4Clothes also pay for teddies,so it may be just as easy to take those there when I take the clothes. But then feel abit bad because I have told my little girls that their teddies would get passed on to children who don't have any.And I don't actually know what happens to the ones sent to C4C.

After all that work, tonight I asked a friend if she would mind,at some stage, wall-papering a wall for me in eldest daughter's room.I invited her to come over and see our work in progress.I thought I had done quite well over the last few weeks, but seeing the house as I was showing my friend around,it was like looking through a different pair of eyes:there is still farrrrrrr tooooooo much ssssssttttttttuuuuuuffffffffff;boxes of stuff,DD's "new room" still looks messy with 1/2 unpacked boxes, chests of drawers which will be going but for now there is nowhere to put them.

    Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Anyway, donated to the school's nursery today:
194 colourful piece of material, found in dressing-up box the other day
195 assorted shapes and pieces of "stick",from a toy "basket-making set" my kids were given a few months ago.As a basket-making kit it was missing a few pieces, but for different shaped templates and colourful "sticks" that can be used for counting, sorting etc,it is excellent.

  • Morning. I only get chance to post weekends, so am quiet during the week! I think a list of things de-cluttered would be a good idea. Well done everyone. I have just decorated my kitchen, and I am in no doubt that I shall be throwing away/charity shop some of the stuff that was in there!! Back on it today, after going to see a friend this morning.
Thank you for words of encouragement. It does seem like a never ending story, but as someone said, I cannot remember who, look how long it took to gather it all!!!
    Have a lovely weekend everyone
