  • Yesterday I got a load of packaging out of the house which my youngest took to school for a project they are doing. Big massive bag of the stuff so that's cleared a space.

1 pair of wellies to my nephew as youngest grown out of them.
Bag of belated Xmas presents to nephew and other family.

I do need to do more 'proper' decluttering though but glad a few bits now out of the house. :)

Been busy tidying paperwork and am currently working through a rather large pile of shredding, the shredder is currently on strike while it cools down

I took a pile of work papers and my full notebook into work today for the confidential waste bin. Been sat on my desk a couple of weeks, but I finally remembered to bag it last night and leave it by the door ;) :T

Have taken DS birthday cards down (it's been a week) and already the LR looks brighter.

At home with youngest on thu/fri and I'd like to tidy my garage office and the conservatory too. Said birthday boy still has some unopened toys too. They need sorting so packaging can go.

    MummyEmand redeaston1 welcome abroad :hello:

Today has been a book day,

6 cookbooks are being traded in at amazon for £17 which I'm pleasantly surprised about and really happy with.

3 novels with no trade in value are being given to CS

2 books not suitable for CS have been out in recycling.
  • I thought this February Challenge post on mortgage free in three is interesting http://mortgagefreeinthree.com/2015/02/the-february-fling-challenge/.

Basically you get rid of 1 item on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd, 3 on the 3rd etc
It may be a good way to keep focused and it wouldn't be too difficult to catch up.

So have decided to have a go at this as a way to keep to me focused. Having missed the 1st and 2nd today today I have started with six items:-

    1. Pair of socks borrowed from a friend
    2. Pair of baby socks
    3. Pair of trousers my son has grown out of
    4. Duplicate copy of Winter in Madrid
    5. Van lock (not sure why I have this when I don't have and never had a van)
    6. Paperwork from a recent training course
    GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50 :)
    Mar (16th Feb - 15th Mar) £61.96 / £70

Good luck with the challenge superrhinos. I clicked on the link to find out more. I think its a great idea, but to be honest not for me as I don't want the pressure of having to do 20+ items a day at the end of the month. I shall have declutter envy at the end of the month though as your home undergoes such a rapid transformation :). Good luck.

I have had a really busy day today,sorting-wise.Every week I tell myself that on this-day or that-day I will actually get to the charity shop and offload some of the stuff I have set aside to go.What actually happens on the day (like today),is I want to have a long stint at sorting through out stuff, and I know that if I take the hour out needed to get to the charity shop,I will break my stride, and wont get as much done.

Today I transferred most of the 8- and 6-y old's toys across to their new room.My goodness gracious me-the amount of stuff they own .It took me most of the school day to sort :eek:.This is their current toy storage:
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9143748.htm

which has worked well for years, and will stay in that room for our son.It was absolutely FULL,all 5 shelves, layer upon layer upon layer.I took every single toy/game/scrap of paper/ornament/random book that didn't make it back to the bookshelves (definitely NOT NOT NOT looking forward to sorting out those!),and either transferring it to their new room, putting it in a big box to try to sell,or a huge box to donate. The time I spent counting individual pieces of games, making sure all pieces were present and correct, either to sell on or donate.....(mostly they were because I have always nagged my kids to make sure all the pieces are together when they pack up a game. And it drives me crazy when they are not.I hate games missing pieces.)I even sorted out all the cards/money in a monopoly set and made sure everything was in the correct slots :o.

Towards the end of the school day I made a start on the dressing up box.Was able to put some dressing up outfits on coat-hangers and hang them in their new room's wardrobe,so they might find it easier to use those a bit more.

Hopefully over the next couple of days I will get to the charity shop I donate to,then I will update my list on here.

Tonight I spent an hour just sorting out the bits of tat leftover after a day of sorting :o.

I feel like I should sort some papers or something just so I can add some numbers to my list today. But too tired.

saver-upper brilliant progress. Well done you :j

    vicky a welcome :hello:

Well, some late night sorting has proved v productive. I've added 3 more books to my am@zon trade-in order bringing the final total to over £21.

3 more books - with no trade in value - have also been added to the CS bag.

    I am soooo chuffed :j
