2015 - No Clutter To Be Seen

  • Been thinking lots about this thread. I think I need a goal in mind, so I'm going to aim for an average of 100 items per month.

So far I have decluttered one thing - a bath. We're gutting the bathroom and there is a charity in town that takes old cabinets, baths, sinks etc, so the bath went there.

I've begun sorting donations out for the charity shop too, but I don't have a list of them yet so I'll update that once I know.

I've tossed quite a few things out this month too, but didn't keep a list, so I'm not going to count them.

Done a few more bits today and YES I am still on our bedroom. Can not believe how much stuff we [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] had in there, still things are looking better and (dare I say it) nearly finished our room.

197 - Old mobile phone packaging - recycled
198 - Large bag old towels - local garage for rags
    199 - Writing pad - daughter
    200 - Snuggle blanket - daughter
    202 - 201 - 2 lots of business cards - bin
203 - Few old grubby dusters - bin
204 - Bag full of bits & bobs - bin
205 - Childs car seat - c/s (Grandchild's bum is too big now) :rotfl:
    206 - Unused toiletries - daughter
207 - Couple of pillow cases - rag bag
    208 - Broken lamp shade - bin
    209 - More cardboard packaging - recycled
    210 - 2 Children's plastic plates - c/s
211 - Several wrist bands from various charities - bin
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • My decluttering over the past few months has been very small. I have the usual paper, tins/cans, cardboard, plastics going into the recycling bin that gets emptied by the council every 2nd week.
Partly filled a PDSA charity bag, which got picked up on Tuesday. Which consisted of 1 jacket, 1 handbag, 5 dvds & 4 books.
Having so many bottles of lotions for hands & body, I don't think I have to buy any for the next year at least. And decided to go through the bathroom cupboard which I keep shampoo/conditioners/deodorants/body sprays. And use them up first before I actually need to buy anymore for the next couple of months or so. :o
Also, I'm still going through what frozen/tinned/jars of food I've got as well.So the freezer/cupboards are very slowly getting de-cluttered.

My eldest daughter arrived tonight and took most of the things I put aside for her as well as several notes books too - will make a list of the extras tomorrow.

She gave me back a couple of things for safe keeping, which was ok. We had a lovely evening, she came with family and I cooked for them and then we played a lovely board game. I came last every time though. I think they play every night so have the edge over me (my excuse anyway).

My youngest daughter is visiting tomorrow afternoon and I will see what she wants after what I put aside for her.

I've just washed up and feeling shattered now.

    76. Last sachet of green tea used up and I put the box into recycling.

    77. Two pairs of knickers to recyling. I prefer the satiny type so will just wear them from now on.

    78. Pair of PJ bottoms to recycling as they are a bit too small. I need to stop keeping clothes that I might fit into one day!

    79. Threw away a tape measure. I have two already, what am I needing to measure that I would need three of them?:rotfl:

    80. I went through my kindle and deleted a few of the free ebooks after reading the start of them.

Cracking back on with my days off. Will need to take it easy as I have laryngitis and I'm feeling a bit rough. Work has started on my bathroom and I am delighted to say that the motivation from this thread meant that I was able to fit all my new bathroom into my spare room. Previously I couldn't even get the door fully open :o

So today I tackled my chest of drawers.

    211. Pair of socks past their best
    212-273. Pants, socks & vests recycled/binned/donated
    274. Reorganised underwear drawer using kon Marie thingy. What a difference.

Last of January: DH's annual underwear cull

    - 7 pairs of shabby socks to be worn and binned
    - 8 pairs of pants with dodgy elastic " " " "
(all replaced from my stores as the local outlet village M&S clearance rails had packs of pants and socks for £2.50 one glorious day :T)
    - a sad looking summer weight dressing gown, three odd socks and a pair of boot socks into recycling

And, yes, I kondo'd the survivors and replacements :rotfl:
