  • Half day at work - come home to get some non -work jobs done - just a quick update here first.

    97. 6 pairs of old socks (threadbare, elastic gone etc)
    98. 4 pairs of undies
    99. 10 pairs of pop socks with ladders/holes
    100-106. 7 bags of rubbish.

I stopped using fabric conditioner a while ago (replaced with white vinegar) but I held onto the massive bottle of conditioner (no idea why). It's a big 5 litre bottle, bought at Costco, and it's been taking up space in the under-sink cupboard. I'm going to leave it in the flats entrance with a note saying help yourself.

278 bottle of body lotion used up & recycled

Got myself together and went up (well...was pretty much blown up) the road to the school and dropped off the art supplies

279-285 five big tubes of paint
    286 some stencils
287-288 two HUGE boxes of wax crayons
    289 box of drawing pins
    290 load of erasers
    291 hole punch
    292 load of stickers
293-294 two plastic llamas. Yes, that's right. Plastic llamas.

Knowing they were going to good use made it SO much easier to sort those drawers out.

    Wow! Everyone is doing amazing.

I've spent the past 2 days tackling the bathroom. It's not that large, I'm just slow ;) But it's been worth it and I've binned and recycled the containers about 20 ood or no longer used toiletries :D The shelves have never been so neat and tidy :D:D:D

I've read through the whole of the thread now and I'm amazed at the effect that everyone's enthusiasm has had one me. For once de cluttering feels like a game, and one I definitely want to keep playing. Thank you.
  • Another trip to the post office for me today

    20. Packet of baby scratch mitts (eBay £3)
    21. 3 unused child's mugs (eBay £2)
    22. New muslin squares (eBay £3.20)
    23. Baby hat set (eBay £2.04)
    24. Baby socks (eBay £2.19)

If anyone wonders why I have so much unused baby stuff it was because I used to make nappy cakes

  • Thank you so much for all your commiserations on the mouse issue, and apologies for hi-jacking a decluttering thread with it:o.

There was also lots of great advice and suggestions, I'm very grateful to all who took the trouble to post:A

Have already caught one mouse but will leave the traps baited in case it had companions. The sonic deterrents sound brill, will certainly check them out. Thanks for the suggestion, I'd never heard of then before:T. Even though we live in a very rural area we've never had a mouse problem in the 30 years or so we've lived in this house. Will be going round on my hands and knees with a torch tomorrow to see if I can spot any tiny holes they may be getting in through. Never realised they could squeeze through such tiny holes. I know we haven't any big gaps anywhere but I need to look again for even tiny ones:eek:. I still suspect my cat, though. I know his history of bringing live prey into the house!

Had a farmer friend who contracted Weils Disease (probably from rats in his case). He was so ill with it he nearly died and has never really been the same since. Will make sure all foodstuffs in the cupboard that weren't in jars/tins gets disposed of. My food budget is going to take a hammering but better be safe than sorry.

    Thanks again. You're stars:beer:

I don't think today was as productive a day as I had yesterday.I am a little dissapointed in myself, but things ARE getting done.At least this afternoon, when kids came home from school, they were able to spend time putting things into their "new" rooms,so at least stuff it being released from boxes, and put into position. It is still only a drop in the ocean.

Myself,I spent this morning sorting through my son's stuff to donate. He had left lots of stuff to donate,so I was bundling it all up,making sure puzzle books hadn't been completed, sticker books were still useable, bundling up pencil sets, counting sets of trading cards, etc.

When it came time to load up the car,I looked at the mountain of clothes my kids had sorted through over the weekend, and decided that maybe I could sort through them more, maybe into bundles, and sell some to bring in a little bit of money.(I have got a loft-full of clothes that for years I have intended to sell, but never got around to).I am a bit cross at myself. On the weekend I was so thrilled the girls had been willing to get rid of clothes. Now I am like "Oh,I could bundle it up into age-groups and sell, even for a few pounds...."So tiny box room is still crammed with nearly 4 bags of teddy bears to go,and a Mount Clothesmore!!

Being positive, what I did get rid of:

    64. I was looking for a spare notebook as I thought I had a couple and I found a ruler to throw away. It has bitten edges so it must have been from my schooldays!:D

    65. I found a copy of a will that was out of date so that was torn up and binned. I thought I had thrown that ages ago.

    66. Recycling into the bin outside.

I want to get to 70 today so I had a quick sweep around the house.:p

    67. I have one of those individual face packs to use up later tonight in the bath.

    68. Red top that has some type of dye on it going into recycling bag.

    69. Black jogging trousers going into recycling bag. I tried them on last night and they are too tight and too short, not the best look.:rotfl:

    70. Old disposable razor thrown out and replaced with new one.
