  • After clearing out the bathroom drawers earlier, I was on a roll so I cleared out the kitchen junk drawer too :)
Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.
  • No big declutter project for me today, but a few bits collected and in the current CS bag ready to leave. A pen and pencil set I'll never use, couple of unwanted gift sets, couple of go-go hamsters (the ones you couldn't get for love nor money a few Christmases ago) and their little beds, a puzzle game still in packet (we have enough of those already), plus some stuff in recycling bin like kids' old calendars and packaging from new ones.
I'm at work all day tomorrow so won't be doing much to report here, but hope to progress with paper cull at weekend.
I'm watching Match of the Day, no idea why. The interludes with Gary make it reasonable viewing...

I've subscribed as we have lots of areas to tackle! The garage is a disaster zone at present.

We did do a big drop to a CS on 23rd Dec and today I've managed to sell a tumble dryer which we bought a replacement for in the sales (ours was vented and in a garage and would fill with water running back down the tube, so we've bought a new condensing one). I was reluctant to buy a new one as the old one worked but hopefully the new owner will get something that runs for a while at a cheap cost as hers had just died. I've also sold an old printer.

I've got masses of outgrown children's clothes to ebay and will try to work to a rule of re-listing only once and then sending to a CS.

My aim will be to carry out some kind of de-cluttering activity every week. Thanks for starting this thread Guineapigsqueaks....great name!

Two cupboards cleared and tidied yesterday as planned. Also, a pocket thing that had hung on the back of the kitchen door for years and was stuffed full of paperwork now emptied, sorted and the pocket thing is to be relegated to the greenhouse to hold twine, trowels etc.

Morning all and thank you for the new thread guineapigsqueaks.
Would like to get rid of at least an item a day, I've told Dh im sue this is doable and we won't even miss most of them also need to be more selective with what comes in!
Made a reasonable finish to the year by giving away quite a lot of duplicate DVDs and when my mum and sister visited mum when home with 4 paperback books I'd finished reading.

Yesterday last years calendar was decluttered but having replaced it with anew one not sure that really counts. First bin day of the year so loads of recycling has gone out and Dh paid a visit to the bottle bank via the newsagent this morning so a few outs but they were all going away so don't count just make it look tidier.
Will make a start on a cd bag today and ee what I can find to put in it.

First rubbish collection of the year plus plastic recycling and food waste (we have bins for peelings etc) today. Paper/glass/tins next week - I have 3 sacks of paper recycling currently so I'll be glad to get that away.

Small storage box, a set of scales, a book of jokes and 13 small booklets of tea cards into the CS heap.

Binned a pair of baggy pants :D.

    17 today.

KDF - how do you do your kids clothes on eBay? bundles? or single good items? is it worth doing in jan? or is it better to wait until after next payday?

I have got stacks and stacks to get rid of, and while I'm tempted to just cs the lot, I think I should have a go at selling first

    I need to join in.

We moved 9 years ago from a very large house down to a smaller one. We sold the furniture with the old house but all its contents had to be boxed and stored. I now have one entire room 15' x 20' with boxes floor to ceiling. Some of the boxes have never been opened since moving so I do need to join in and declutter, sell what I can and throw the rest away - going to be a busy year and hopefully a profitable one.

I shall make sure my eBay account is Ok, set up the camera and get started - one box at a time. My aim is to spend one hour a day on this. I know I should have done it earlier but it was only in 2014 that i was able to walk again after three years. Before, I found it almost impossible to get about and certainly very difficult to get to the PO on two crutches. Hopefully 2015 will be easier.

Will report back when under way.
  • Hi, I would like to join in please :-) three of us in a four bedroom house with 3 rooms of doom.... And that's without the bedrooms! So much to do but I have to start somewhere... I aim to tackle one small area/pile/box per day.
