I listened to my audio book while decluttering so it was a wonderful relaxing thing to do, and I can work through my audible library too:A

Hi, I'm in, I need all the help and motivation I can get.

I think I will set a target of 10 items per day (5 before work 5 in the evening) this sounds a lot but they can be big or small items. I will start to do this in my bedroom easy start as all the stuff in there is mine, will be harder to persuade ds that he also has too much stuff that needs to be de-cluttered. At the same time as doing these small steps in the bedroom I will also be working on the downstairs. Will update as I go along.

Can I join this year please - have made a start last year but still have lots to go. Made a 'De-clutter' sheet on excel yesterday listing each drawer/cupboard/shelf and setting a target date (tried to be realsistic). Would like to get the house done so that I can concentrate on the garden in the spring.

Also have to do the loft but will save that till the house is done. Just need to get the family on board now!!
  • Lovely new thread for 2015 :D

I'm going to carry on decluttering - I did lose some weight last year, which resulted in a massive declutter of clothes, but I am a little bit  that despite regularly decluttering, I still managed to get rid of 316 items in 2014! Need to work on only buying things I need ....

I've already started this year (been reading minimalist blogs which inspired me!) but it doesn't count until it's out :) and the bag is in the boot of my car ...

2015 should be the year my divorce is finalised, and I will be moving, so shedding approximately half a household full of stuff, too ....
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

    Decluttering - January 2024 - 89 physical objects, over 700 emails/digital decluttering 🎊 🏅🏅
  • Count me in. I did a massive amount of de-cluttering in 2013 then stalled a bit last year(How odd that 2014 is last year!!!)
I would like to tackle the tool mountain my husband has. He never uses most of it. In fact I bet he doesn't even know what he owns.
    My target is:
Reduce the Christmas decorations. Loads of good ones that I haven't used for years
    Clear out the cook books.
Cull the kitchen clutter- Odd cups, plastic tubs.........
    Thin out the linen cupboard.

I think that's enough for now.
    xx
Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering

    Hi all,
have been madly decluttering and sorting stuff for last couple of weeks.
I have been reading up on Marie Kondo-have a look on youtube, she's fab.
She shows you how to store things by folding and standing end up, we have ended up with two empty drawers using this method
look on you tube for folding carrier bags too, now take up a little box instead of a whole plastic drawer .
    good luck all :)

I have decluttered my first item of the year.

    1. A cast iron skillet - someone on Freegle wanted one for her elderly aunt to make Welsh cakes on. It took ages for us to arrange a mutually convenient time, but she came today for it.

I am looking to do one item a day as a minimum.
