I just looked round the house and couldn't find anything to get rid of!

:rotfl: It shows I'm doing well with the decluttering.

    48. I will use up the end of an orange scented candle tonight.:D

Feeling happy today about an item that left the house.

A student had asked on Freegle for a radio to be used in a student kitchen. I had a radio/tape recorder, where only the radio was still working so I sent him an email.

He arrived today, was very happy with it - said he would re-gift it after they leave the property in September. He was glad it was small enough to put in his back pack and then he cycled off home.

    I've just received this email

Just wanted to say a thank you one more time!

Yesterday evening we cooked dinner and played cards while listening to it.

    Take care,

I'm so pleased that it has gone to such a nice person.

    I'm just having a minute....

    27. three veg boxes (empty) returned to veg man

    28. towels folded and put away

    29. six coat hangers returned to bedroom from hall (hanging on the banister)

    30. Recycling day today - everything put out and returned to garden storage box after collection

    31. Two bin bags put into bin (full from various small scale bits of tidying over the last few days, not noted in previous posts as it was sort of 'tidy as you go' most of the time). Bins have been put out awaiting emptying this afternoon.

    32. TV table cleared, cleaned and folded away. Items on it included various papers (recycling), book (shelf), book (daughter's, so into a bag for her house), three Christmas decorations (put into carrier bag that I have for Xmas oddments that I keep finding - it will be put into loft once I am fairly confident that there is no more seasonal stuff hanging around!), birthday card into card box, toy plane into toys, and pens into pen drawer!

    33. Washing bagged (washing machine on the blink, so daughter and mum sharing my washing!)

    34. crafty stuff into craft bag (which is currently living under the dining table)

    35. Bra (found in the dining room!) into bag for daughter's house

    36. small crate cleared - paper recycled, book to go upstairs, another book for daughter's house, puzzle book (only three puzzles completed) to daughter's house, china doll to charity shop bag, window screen wash tabs into hall (into small box on top of bookcase)

    37. Cleared behind the settee. I can't tell you how bad it was! I've regained six (!) beakers, four pens, and a variety of odd socks to be reunited with their partners!

    38. A large bin bag is waiting by the door to be put into the bin when they are emptied. I might manage to get to the tip with it, but I'm not sure yet.

    39. Large vase with dried flowers is by the front door to go to the charity shop.

I've also filled the dishwasher, swept the floor in the lounge, put away the bits of shopping that I bought yesterday afternoon, and tried to mop the bathroom floor. I wasn't very successful with that, though, as I managed to break my mop! I'm going to buy a new one on my way to pick my son up from school.

If I do get to the tip (and I really ought to make the effort!), then I also have an old office chair in the dining room that needs to go. The seat is ripped, so I can't really Freecycle it. I'll list them once done.

I'm going to have some home made soup now (veggies flung into the slow cooker a couple of days ago, along with passata and herbs).

ETA: Just as I posted, the binmen came, so I ran outside with my binbag of stuff and asked them to take that as well. Time to start another one! Bins are in too.

    Quick update before work:

    161. Manky chewed pencils into the coal scuttle for firelighting. I live in a house of pencil & pen chewers. It drives me BONKERS

    162. Old phone splitter thingybobdoodah - bin

    163. Loads of old scrap paper and card that has been hiding for years in a groaning stationary drawer. Got enough to last us until the next millenium. Recycled.

    164. Old unused receipt book that still has '19_ _' printed in the date section

165 & 166 two boxes of pool balls to the jumble. WHY DO I HAVE THESE ?????? TWO SETS ??? I have played pool precisely twice in my entire life. We do not have and have never had a pool table.

    167. Cardboard box broken down & recycled.

I can see a bit more floor now! To be fair a lot of that is down to me tidying as I de-clutter rather than sheer amount of items leaving the house but it's a rather nice side-effect. ;) I'm going to hoover now whilst I've got the chance!

  • Glad I've found this! I'm on a mission to declutter at the moment as I've moved in with my parents while I save up for my own house and their garage is now filled with all the things I had at my old flat! Think a fair few car boot sales are in order in 2015
