You people have been very busy.
Recycled 3 magazines to a neighbour. They were given to me and I now neighbour will pass them on to someone else.
Pile of notelets/envelopes to another neighbour,as I must admit I don't write to people very often.
2 roasting tins. Hardly used and too big for me to use.Went to another neighbour!!
Noticed that a few people are giving Christmas decs to CS. I don't want to seem nasty, but please remember that some of these shops have very limited storage space and these things will be kept for 10 months. Please ask before you take them.

  • Christmas decs sorted and stored in the loft, broken ones binned. Old bath toys sorted, cleaned or binned as necessary. Will donate to local special school. Sorted through a box in the spare room and found a long lost pair of cycling gloves. Very happy!

Can I join in please? There's just me in a three bed house and I seem to have spread in every direction. I can't get into the loft so got a friend to empty it for me recently, everything that was in there has joined the already huge pile of unsorted junk in the third bedroom. There's so much in there the bed isn't accessible and there's a very narrow channel from the door to the window.

I'd planned a car boot last year but a loss in the family put paid to that, and I have boxes of 'stuff' from my late DM's flat to get rid of too.

There seems to be something in every corner of the kitchen and one of the double wall cupboards is chock-a-block with candles and candle leftovers which I've been meaning to melt and reform for ages.

The bathroom has no less than 17 tablets of soap in the cabinet which people have given me - I don't use soap! Have thought about making gloop but that's as far as it's got. Believe it or not the tidiest room in the house is my bedroom, I can't sleep in clutter! And the airing cupboard is always neat, I like to be able to my hands on things in there straight away. But the rest of the house, well....

Hoping I'm not a lost cause, I have a completely free day tomorrow so have started to make a list of what needs to be done and will work through methodically until I can see the light.

May have hit a snag(ette) with DH, he reckons if I declutter any more the house will look empty ...... although even he couldn't see how the utility room looked empty, just clean and tidy!!

That's the state I'm in now but the drawers and cupboards are still full and as fast as i get rid of stuff, more stuff is bought in the house to take its place.

I've used up some party ware today. 2 foil trays and baking dishes, some paper plates and napkins.
Also lots of food disappeared ;)

I'd like to join too please.

The clutter should be enough motivation for me to do it, but somehow it isn't. It just de-motivates me instead!

Did some sorting / recycling centre trips / car boots last year, so hoping to keep those up this year.

Too much stuff & too little storage, but, considering there is no more room for new storage, I intend to shrink my stuff to comfortably fit the storage available.

Problem is the in-between stage - separating things into bin/keep/sell needs space & temporary storage in itself before I accrue a bunch of stuff worth the relevant trip. I use those coloured garden trug bin things for sorting and as rummage bins to entice customers at car boots. ...and they stack well between uses!
  • A bit of late night cluttering going on :) I'm back at work tomorrow so need to stay focused.

    35. Pair of karrimors, really worn out and I have 2 other pairs - binned

    36. Old tablet stylus that stopped working - binned

Am debating whether I should throw out a pair of black leather boots that are quite worn out on the soles but very comfy. I have a brand new pair of the exact same boots (I bought 2 pairs in a sale a year or two ago). Is the fact that I'm debating it mean that I should chuck em? Any advice appreciated!!!

Yup, I really am :) It's "only" 5 to 6 items per day, I must have done 30 items today alone.

I reckon it may get tougher as the year goes on ... but we moved so many boxes last time, which like you haven't really ever been unpacked fully, that I don't want to do it again!

OK - I'm up for the challenge!

    63. Broken baubles - bin
    64. Tinsel - CS
    65. Tinsel garland - CS
    66. 2 wooden stars - CS
    67. Wooden goose - CS
    68. Relight holder - CS
    69. 3 gold decorations - CS
    70. Paper chain strips - CS
    71. 2 Yankee Candle votive holders - CS
    72. Packet of balloons - CS

Back to work tomorrow, so the de-cluttering will slow down. I'm in it for the long haul...
