This weekend I have managed get rid off some dust & cobwebs while hoovering. A bag with magazines has gone to MIL. Shredded some old receipts. Hopefully soon I will start to feel less tired.

Haven't been on here in a little while - update from me is that I'd got to 123 items.
I've been reading the Konmarie thread the book - amazing book. The result is that yesterday I liberated 183 items from my home. Clothes, books, knick-knacks, all sorts of 'stuff' has gone to the charity shop and recycling centre. I really recommend the book. It has opened my eyes to a whole new way of looking at my belongings.

So my current total is now 306 items gone. I have been listing individual items on here but I don't want to spend all that time writing it down. And I can't honestly remember half the things that were in there. I will continue keeping a tally of what leaves, but not individual items.

  • Haven't been around for a while - working full time now, so much less time to declutter. I did manage to get the bag of stuff in the boot of my car off the charity shop yesterday, so:-

    328. Christmas decoration
    329. Shoes - to a friend
    330. T-shirt
    331. Trousers (too big)
    332. Dress (too big)
    333. Jumper (too big) to my Mum
    334. Nail 'treatment' which wrecked my nails - BIN!!
    335. Belt (too big)
336-341. 5 books and one DVD sold
    342. Blouse (too see-through :o)
    343. Jumper (too big)

This losing weight malarkey has resulted in a lot of decluttering! My wardrobe is looking quite streamlined, and I'm being more careful about what I buy.

Will be back soon to read the rest of the thread!

    1. Scooby Doo mug wrapped and thrown away as I dropped it :(
    2. Uni textbooks sold and posted
3 - 4. Socks with holes in, to rag bag
    5. Cardboard boxes to recycling point
    6. Group photograph from 2003, photo ripped into teeny tiny pieces (no clue why I kept it so long, as have no happy memories of that time!) and thrown away and cardboard frame into recycling
    7. More old college and school work into recycling

Does anyone else find they have to keep going back over the same areas? For example I got rid of old school/college work last month, but kept some. So I went through the box again today and got rid of some more, but still kept some!? It's like I can't bear to part with it all at once, so just have to reduce it a bit at a time!

My Uni assignment is due in on Wednesday, so will be back to decluttering later on in the week. Have a charity bag and food that the dog doesn't like to go to the local dog rescue and items to list on Ebay.

    In

Nothing for me :) (apart from usual consumables)
Front leading harness for dog that is so far looking like a waste of money! Will have another go at readjusting it.

    OH MY LORD!!!
I HAVE TWO PERFECTLY DECLUTTERED BEDROOMS!! happy055.gifhappy036.gif

    I am absolutely thrilled!

After moving son's stuff into his room yesterday,I got very little sleep last night: I had been so looking forward to today, even with all the interruptions as a "mum's taxi".

I spent just over three hours sorting 6 and 8yo's room:unpacked a couple of boxes of stuff and put everything away carefully, got 8yo to crawl under bunk bed and retrieve all the odd socks, random toys, etc that had gathered in the last month, dusted all surfaces, threw out bits of tat, vacuumed and dusted. Then I had to take photos (cos who knows how long it will last :rotfl:).Also photographed son's room.

I spent about 20 minutes tidying/vacuuming 12yo's room.It is actually not too bad: I keep finding little bundles of stuff for her to put away/chuck,but the biggest hurdle in her room is MY stuff: bags of stuff I have cleared out of kid's rooms to sort through/sell/donate.Also my belongings that now have no home since we moved into the front room.

After all this I put empty boxes in the loft (they will be needed soon for OH)-empty boxes are a lovely representation of what has been achieved.

I would like to concentrate on finishing the third bedroom this week.I am only working in the morning tomorrow,so should have a few hours to do a bit after that. Then I also have Wednesday off,so can really get into it then. There is not billions of boxes/bags of stuff, but it does need to be sorted. Will be brilliant to have all three rooms finished:it has already taken since 27th Dec.I don't know whatever made me think it would all (painting/carpetting and decluttering) be done before going back to school and work on 6th Jan .

Been a bit slow in updating, but managed to declutter some bathroom fixtures last week. So I'm up to 50 items actually out the door so far. I've got another pile to go, just need to make a list of it first and then out it goes!

    Morning all
After nagging DH that we need to get rid of some clutter and him just digging his heels in for monthsYesterday evening after mentioned how interesting I was finding the konmari thread I'd found after it was mentioned on the book thread I follow he took the bait. I said we were supposed to pile ALL our own clothing onto the bed sort it into categories and then after 'seeing if you felt the love' for each item decide if it was to be kept or passed on, as soon as DD2 and her fella had left with the carful of stuff I'd donate to them he asked if I would come up and help him make a start on some of his stuff.
Result is after tackling his sports stuff, undies and t shirts we now have two free shelves and half an empty drawer as well as a pile of clothing he's happy to get rid of - he threw it onto the lie not me and he said can we do his hanging rails during the week as he's got loads he doesn't wear on those!!!!!!
This morning I'm going to sort through the pile an sort it into to CS or clothes bank. I can walk the clothes bank stuff down as its close but the Cs stuff will have to wait for the weekend as DH will need to take me in the car.

    Out
22 t shirts or vest tops
    1 jumper
7 cotton hankies - almost new
    4 pairs walking socks
    2 pairs boxer shorts
    4 pairs shorts
    1 balaclava
    1 boxers 'box'
Big pile old A-Z street maps all at least 10 years old
2 sets of my electrical hair curlers
Two old not working wrist watches - binned
Strange chunk of metal Ds2 brought home ages ago that looks like a bike gear - binned
All being sorted as to where it can go and will be bagged up this morning

Dropped a couple of bags into the clothes banks as I passed this morning, went to mils helped her go through a couple of files of really old paperwork, ended up coming back with a big bag of stuff to shred for her.
Spent this afternoon sorting my drawers and hanging rail, I've filled a bulging Cs bag with clothes i no longer feel the love for, a couple of bags can go down the clothes banks tomorrow morning and a bag of really tatty stuff has gone in the bin (laddered tights etc)
I now have 5 filled bags waiting to go to the CS at the weekend.
Tonight DH wants to go through his hanging rails so there may well be some more by Saturday.
